Xenoblade Chronicles 3, known in Japan as Xenoblade 3 (Japanese: ゼノブレイド3, Zenobureido Surī), is a role-playing video game published by Nintendo and developed by Monolith Soft for the Nintendo Switch.

Gameplay

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 uses a combination of the battle systems from both the original Xenoblade Chronicles & Xenoblade Chronicles 2. Characters have 4 possible arts to perform in battle (though only 3 may be equipped at a time) and 2 elements to swap between on the fly. Blade Combos from 2 return (now known as Elemental Combos), and function almost identically to how they did.

Chain Attacks function similarly to how they did in Xenoblade 2.

Trinity System

Kristo's sword the Nibiru has a unique ability called the Trinity System, which allows for him to grant he & his allies certain buffs during battle, as well as granting party members a special third element: Sol, Luna or Animus, which will do effective damage depending on an enemy's Sphere of origin.

Vision System

Similar to how Visions functioned in Xenoblade Chronicles, Nibiru can grant Kristo accurate simulations of the future, allowing he & his allies to act before tragedy strikes & prevent the attack.

Synopsis

In ages long past, the world now known as Trismegistus was once a single unified paradise. But all that was changed with the arrival of a mysterious giant known as the titan "Agartha". With one stroke of his mighty sword, he cleaved the world in three, leaving only the 3 Spheres of Soma, Ilios & Fengari, with the titan laying dormant in the center of the three. The Spheres have had tenuous relationships with each other ever since.

3000 years later, a Soman boy named Kristo discovers a mysterious red sword with markings on it depicting the Three Spheres, and very quickly becomes hounded by not only all of the Spheres, but a mysterious group who claim to be able to reunify Trismegistus.

The Spheres of Trismegistus

Soma

Soma, often referred to as the "Middle Sphere" is the largest of all the Spheres, covered in endless plains & grasslands. It's situated right between Ilios & Fengari, often resulting in it being caught in the crossfire between their war. The Somans are analogous to humans in almost every way.

Ilios

Ilios, or the "Upper Sphere" as it's sometimes called is the smallest Sphere in Trismegistus is a society built from the ground up with Ether. Making their home amongst the tallest peaks of the Sphere, the Ilions are pale golden-skinned humanoids who often wear flamboyant headdresses.

Fengari

Fengari, known as the "Lower Sphere" is a harsh & borderline uninhabitable Sphere, which forces its inhabitants to live underground. The native Fengari people are horned, pale blue-skinned humanoids, & are a highly technologically advanced society, despite what little they have to live on.

Noponia

Noponia, the supposed "Outer Sphere" is an artificial Sphere that brought the small & eccentric Nopon people from across the sea of stars. Very little is known about this Sphere, as the Nopons are very secretive about what goes on there. They are neutral in the conflict between the Spheres.

Agartha

Agartha, named "The Titan" in legends. A mythical figure that broke Trismegistus into the Three Spheres it is now. Its body lies dormant in the center of the world, and can be traversed. While no intelligent species lives in Agartha's body, rumors circulate that a group of strange individuals have been hanging around the head.
