One of the longest-standing rivalries in the world of technology is the one between Microsoft Corporation, founded by Bill Gates and the late Paul Allen, better known for owning Windows and Xbox, and Apple Inc., founded by the late Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak and Ronald Wayne, better known for owning Macintosh, iPod, iPhone and iPad. But if Apple wanted to take a bite of Microsoft's success with the Xbox and wanted its own slice in the video game market? Here's a potential scenario.

Changes[]

  • The project would be named Ambrosia, being conceived by Steve Jobs himself.
  • This would be Apple's second tentative to enter the video game market after the failure of the Apple Pippin, although this one would be more successful thanks to Jobs' determination and the company's aggressive marketing strategy.
  • The video game market would be nowadays shared between Apple's Ambrosia, Microsoft's Xbox, Sony's PlayStation and Nintendo's systems, with Sony ranking first on console sales, followed by Apple, Microsoft and Nintendo.
  • Despite Apple being infamously known for its overpriced products, the Ambrosia has a decent price.
  • Apple has several made video game developers to develop their games with Apple publishing original games themselves under the Apple Studios name.
    • These companies would include Apple Studios New York, Apple Studios Silicon Valley, Apple Studios Toronto, Apple Studios Milan, Blight Games, Total Anarchy Games and Meteorite Studios.
