Volcano Lotuses (called Volcano Plants in Super Princess Peach, referred to as Fire Plants in the Super Mario World cartoon) are Piranha Plant-like enemies that debuted in Super Mario World. They are stationed on the ground, and will spew fireballs in diagonal arcs, which will rain down when they reach the highest point. To defeat them, Cape Mario must spin his cape into them or Yoshi must swallow them. Jumping on them while using Yoshi or using a spin jump will not defeat them, but it will allow Mario to bounce off of them without taking damage.
They reappear in Super Princess Peach under the name Volcano Plants, and retain the same attack pattern. A new, yellow variant called Calm Volcano Plants appear, which will sleep until Peach draws near, awaking them.
Trivia[]
- The Volcano Lotus is very similar to the Lava Lotus, an enemy from Super Mario Bros. 3, that lives underwater.
