tl;dr - Marina disabled message walls and i'd rather not deal with a ton of crap surrounding this
so everyone seems to blame me for disabling message walls and it's spiraling out of control considering i have plenty of responsibilities already and it's my first day on the job
first of all, the poll was a mistake in several ways - i'm still in major support of holding polls and keeping democracy alive, but honestly a lot of the 'yes' votes were misinformed and most of the sysops were extremely biased in favor of them being added. upon addition, we found the 'no' votes were well-earned, because message walls look like total crap and the notifications on them are glitched seven ways to next week. here's where the lines got a bit blurred
the common story is that in a knee-jerk reaction, i disabled message walls - i currently believe the blame shoved on me was because i just became a sysop, combined with my involvement in making the poll happen. this is all kind of wrong.
i kind of panicked and attempted to find a solution to the issue so that we could keep the spirit of democracy rolling and have everyone be at least okay with the results. however, Marina chose to disable message walls during my planning, which is when i was given the blame. it seems that this has gotten me some bad rep, seeing as both Brock and Wario have badmouthed me since.
honestly, i'd like to brush this under the rug a bit - i acknowledge my involvement in the poll, and i'm okay with taking constructive criticism, but i've had enough with people claiming 'power has changed me' or that i'm a hypocrite. usually i'd have a higher tolerance for this, but for god's sake, people, i've been on the job for less than 12 hours! cut me a little slack and get your facts straight before you jump on me like some people did today.
and i just want to clarify before i end this little statement - i'm not trying to get you all mad at Marina. she made an honest mistake in reaction to what we thought was a major problem, seeing as it affected the whole userbase, and hopefully we can all calm down and get along rather than fighting again.
