- Please note this is reported way earlier on Nintendo.co.uk. I'm not sure why it's not reported on Fantendo yet
Not sure if this counts for the US too, but Mario Kart 8 will get a software update on August 27, and the Mercedes-Benz kart DLC will be released alongside as well.
First the changes after the upcoming update:
- You'll be able to show the course map on the TV instead on the GamePad, like most Mario Karts already do.
- You'll be able to check your statistics, including the total amount of coins you collected.
- You'll be able to change the MKTV Highlight Reels of other players.
- The order of the menu after each race switches the positions of Next Race and Watch Highlight Reel.
- The game will remember the most recent kart combination chosen, even after the game is restarted.
- The stability of online racing is improved for a better experience.
Next, the DLC pack:
There are actually THREE Mercedes-Benz karts to be downloaded, all based on the actual vehicles:
- The Mercedes-Benz GLA, that new one we already know is going to be in this game.
- The Mercedes-Benz W25 Silver Arrow, a legendary F1 racing car from the 30s.
- Finally, the Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Roadster from the 50s.
Between August 27 and September 23, Nintendo and Mercedes-Benz will also be holding a worldwide Mercedes Cup tournament, in which is required to ride either of the three Mercedes-Benz karts. It can be found under Online Tournaments.
