So... it’s been quite a while since anything of importance has gone on with Mario & The Purple Wind, as I’ve been spending a ton of time working on the internal code. I really apologize for this, but this is just gonna take quite a bit of time as I push through the mess of code I wrote. The community poll thing I mentioned... holy shit, that was 2 months ago. Anyway, that poll won’t be happening until the code rewrite is done, which'll probably take a while. So, if this announcement isn’t about that project... then what’s it about?

A dark gray, abstract and chaotic pattern appears on screen. A deep voice seems to come from above, sounding somewhat alien and metallic.
Voice 1: So, you were cast out because of these... blemishes?
The screen cuts to a lighter blue pattern, more ordered but still unbalanced. Another voice from above, this time more feminine but still with that same metallic quality.
Voice 2: Yes. I wish I could forget the day it happened, but it’s still clear as Cristyl.
Silhouettes flash on screen- a strong figure holding a lanky, trembling figure. The same strong figure standing over the smaller figure, lying prone on the ground. The second figure snapped in half, with shards of… something shattered around it.
The camera zooms out, revealing Qwartz Qrusher and Saffyr Savior holding a conversation in a bustling hallway.
QQ: Perhaps we shouldn’t dwell on the past then. I’m here to give you your obj-
SS: Hold on, I still know nothing about you. Why are you in the Recon Corps? You don’t exactly fit the part.
QQ: We’ll have time to talk about this when we’re out on the mission.
SS: We’re working this mission together?
QQ: Yeah, and you’d know that if you let me read the damn briefing to you!
SS: Geez, go ahead then.
QQ: Sorry. Anyway, we’ve got intel that the Roobis are developing a powerful weapon, but we don’t know the details. You, me, and Electro Emeryld are on the main team, and it looks like we get a lot of wiggle room- all it says is to “infiltrate the Roobi base."
SS: Dammit, Electro Emeryld? Really?
QQ: Look, I don’t pick the teams. Do you wanna get kicked out of the RC, or do you wanna stop the Roobis from building this weapon?
SS: Fine- at least we get the freedom to do the mission in our own style. You know I hate Electro Emeryld, though.
QQ: I’ll do my best to keep you two apart, but I can’t make any promises. Now I’ve gotta go brief him, you should go pack for the trip- Roobi Clan is quite a long distance.
SS: Alright, thanks... I guess. What should I bring?
QQ: I’d say pack for a week of on-foot travel, and a couple days in hostile territory. Make sure not to bring any traditional weapons, they’ll be vaporized at the gate.
SS: Aw hell, you’re right. I guess that’s why they picked Electro Emeryld, we all specialize in combat without traditional weapons. It’s a shame we can’t melt down the Roobis with a good old-fashioned flamethrower, though.
QQ lets out a quick, metallic chuckle, then starts leaving. He briefly turns his head back to look at SS.
QQ: Alright, unless Electro Emeryld has any objections, we’ll set out in… 3 days?
SS: Sure thing! See you on the surface, sir.
SS salutes.
QQ: Hey- I may be the team leader, but we’re all on equal footing. Call me Qrusher.
SS: Thanks, Qrusher. I’m Savior.
QQ: Nice to meet you, Savior. See you on the surface.
QQ and SS walk away, and the space they leave is quickly filled in by other Cristyls making their way through the hallway. The screen fades to black.

I don’t have a name for this project yet, but expect to see a lot more of it soon. I hope that I don’t completely abandon Mario & The Purple Wind in favor of this, but I do think it’ll be put on the backburner for a while- I just don’t feel the same spark I did when I first started it, and I think I need to let my creativity recharge for a bit.
