Fantendo - Game Ideas & More

2018 was a good year for games, but this list isn't specifically for games I played FROM 2018, but games of any time I PLAYED in 2018. With that out of the way, let's begin.

#10.[]

Sonic Colors is a game that's more platform-oriented for a Sonic game, but one that works. It's among my top 10 Sonic games. Sadly, the controls are a bit different and my muscle memory sometimes screws me up.

A Hat in Time logo

During the summer of this year, I was craving a 3D platformer akin to Super Mario 64. Since I didn't have an N64, I decided to play this. I was gonna wait for the Switch version to release, but my intrest peaked. Overall, it's very polished for an indie game, and also really funny.

GameStyle SuperMarioWorld

A very tight and entertaining Mario title with an amazing soundtrack. I don't know why, but this game feels infinitely better than SMB3 to me.

This was obvious. I love Kirby games and this is no exception. It likely barely misses my top 5, but it's still a gem. Playing through with friends is the best part of the game, as most of the adventure require intense teamwork. This is probably the easiest Kirby game, but that's understandable, at it's helping new players who just bought their Switch a warm welcome.

Behold, the first non-Pokemon RPG I actually finished! It incorporates a bunch of references to the show, which is probably why it's so damn funny. And I love me an RPG with postgame content!

MegaMan11 Logo

Wow, as soon as next year came, Mega Man 10 is no longer my favorite. This feels so nice to play. Because they don't resort to being too old-school, this game is the most balanced in its difficulty yet. The bosses are decently memorable and the level design is very good.

WHY DID IT TAKE SO LONG TO PLAY THIS

I'm willing to say that this game deserves it's near-perfect score on Metacritic. It, along with A Hat in Time quenched my thirst for fetch-quest adventures. I just like this one more.

Here it is! The super hard game that I FINISHED 100% IN 8 HOURS OF BUYING. Yeah, I'm pretty good at this stuff, but this game was NOT easy. My butt was smashed multiple times. On a funny note, after beating the Devil, I had died exactly 100 times. Neat, huh? The 30s aestetic gives this game most of its charm, and you can see the efforts wrung in by MDHR.

HOO BOY will this tick people.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate logo (White)

I was surprised too, it happens. However, this game is still amazing! Everyone is back (and about time too) and they're gonna kick the shit out of each other! The story mode is not as good as Brawl's but still a fun romp. Every character feels balanced but strong simotaneously. Sakurai knows what he does, and what he do is good.

So, what beats Ultimate?

HeaderAB

My literal favorite game of all time.

I got this game pretty late in the year, but that didn't stop me from enjoying this masterpiece. Years of perfecting the system the game uses have all been worth it. Each dungeon is fun to explore, you can experiment with item combinations and synergies, and you can shudder in fear of how horrifying the game is! Edmund has created fantastic titles in the past, and this game proves that he hasn't lost his spark.

Thank you all for reading.
