Sandbox Navigation

M123456789

This is my sandbox for my planned Gen 1 remakes Pokemon DynamicRed and SereneBlue, for the Wii U. It is part of the Generation A set of Pokemon games.

Plot

Blurb

Start an adventure in the Kanto region to achieve your dream of becoming a Pokemon Master! Collect and cherish Pokemon to use them in battle! Go around Kanto, collecting Gym Badges from powerful Gym Leaders to challenge the Elite Four! Go around the region and complete quests, catch Pokemon, and battle trainers to become the best trainer ever!

Changes from Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen

Gameplay

  • The game's graphics are updated to utilize the HD capabilities of the Wii U. Therefore, this game has more detailed and realistic battles than any Pokemon game before.
    • The battlefield's backgrounds now include details, such as a Spearow running in a terrain, or a car driving in a city battlefield.
  • Features that were introduced from Gens IV-A have been added, including the physical-special split, characterists, Fairy type, Mega Evolution, etc.
  • Pokemon movesets, stats, and abilities have been altered to include Gen IV-A moves and abilities, as well as be up to date with the Pokemon's recent information.
    • Some abilities and moves have been modified, either for balance or to be realistic.
  • The game now supports up to two game files to play in. Each file has its own separate game file for Normal and (if unlocked) Challenge mode. This allows a total of up to 4 game files for the player to play in.
  • A new device known as the PokePad is added to the game; it follows a similar purpose to Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire's PokeNav. It replaces a lot of the Start Menu's options; some include the Pokedex, Trainer Card, and Options menus, which are now incorporated into the PokePad. This device is accessible from the Wii U's GamePad touch screen.
  • The Start Menu is now on the Wii U's GamePad touch screen; it can be switched with the PokePad for predominance. It is now more cyber and modern-looking than before, it features three sections, all with neon lights on and around them; Pokemon in blue, Bag in yellow, and Save in pink.
  • The Kanto Pokedex has now been updated to become the New Kanto Pokedex; this Pokedex features all evolutions and pre-evolutions of Kanto Pokedex Pokemon introduced from Gen II to VI, giving it a new total number of 183 in the Dex. This is different from FRLG's dex as it was identical to Generation I's version.
  • The Day Care on Route 5 has been updated to match that of recent Pokemon Day Cares; it features up to two Pokemon being raised at a time, and supports breeding.
  • The Sevii Islands have been opted out entirely. However, they are mentioned by some NPCs.
  • Similarly to Pokemon Yellow and Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver, the player's Pokemon can follow the player around (although in Yellow it was restricted to the starter Pikachu). However, unlike the Johto remakes, certain Pokemon (particularly certain sea or river-dwelling Pokemon) can only follow the player in certain environments; for example, Wailord can follow the player in water, but nowhere else. If the lead Pokemon cannot follow the player in the current environment, then the player will not have any Pokemon follow them.
  • The auto-run option from Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver has returned.
  • There, once again, are move tutors found around Kanto. Some, like the ones found in FireRed and LeafGreen, are free but can only teach once; however, some are found throughout the game, and will teach the Player's Pokemon moves for Shards.
  • The Elite Four, Team Rocket Admins, and Giovanni now seem to have in-depth knowledge of Mega Evolution and have their signature Pokemon Mega Evolve.
    • Additionally, the player's main rival, Blue, also has some small knowledge due to becoming Champion; therefore, his starter now Mega Evolves into the Mega Evolution opposite of that version's mega (so Mega Venusaur Y/Charizard X/Blastoise Y in DynamicRed, and Venusaur X/Charizard Y/Blastoise X in SereneBlue).
  • The first three Elite Four members (Lorelei, Bruno, and Agatha) can be fought in any order; however, Lance will always be fought last.
  • The Underground from the Sinnoh games has returned; this is its first appearance since Generation IV. The Explorer Kit necessary for entering it is obtained in Fuschia City.
    • The player cannot enter the underground over islands and water, for obvious reasons.
  • Gym Leaders can be rematched once the player has obtained their phone numbers (with the exception of Giovanni, who does not give out his phone number). Their rematch Pokemon and levels are determined on the amount of Badges the player has, as well as whether they are in the main story or post-game. How to obtain each Gym Leader's number is listed below:
    • Brock's is obtained by initially meeting him in the Underground.
    • Misty's is obtained through Erika, who gives it to you upon defeating her.
    • Lt. Surge's is obtained through showing him a max friendship Electric-type Pokemon at the Power Plant.
    • Erika offers her directly after defeating her.
    • Koga's is obtained by finding his daughter, Janine, in the Safari Zone. She will then give the number to the player.
    • Sabrina's is obtained through talking to her after obtaining the Marsh Badge.
    • Blaine's is obtained through showing him a Moltres with your OT number.
  • There are two game modes; Normal and Challenge. Normal is default, whereas Challenge mode is unlocked through completing Normal Mode's Pokemon League for the first time.
  • The player character opposite of the player's gender is now the player's secondary rival.
  • Professor Oak can now be fought after completing the Hall of Fame. The level of his Pokemon increase with each fight.
  • Flutes from Hoenn and Gen III Kanto have been vastly upgraded, with them being different and more being added.

Story (Main Game)

  • The player now obtains their Starter Pokemon out of needing to do an errand for Oak (which is retrieving his parcel). This is similar to the reasoning of the player obtaining their Starter Pokemon in the Johto games.
  • The player's Dad is now reported to be alive, but in an unknown location.
  • Viridian Forest has a small side-quest that involves protecting some Bug Catchers from some hostile Weedle, Kakuna, and Beedrill. The side-quest ends with the player fighting a L10 Beedrill.
  • The player no longer receives an Old Amber at the Pewter Museum, and instead receives a Hard Stone. The Old Amber is instead obtained from the Super Nerd in Mt. Moon; he now says that if the player wants it, they must fight him for it. However, he will always be fought regardless, implying that he just wants to fight rather than have the player prove their strength.
  • Team Rocket Admins are now fought, starting in Mt. Moon.
  • Misty is now found in the same area Bill's house is; however, to reach the area she's standing, they must have Bill activate a special code to open the gate blocking the path. Therefore, until Bill is saved, the player cannot fight Misty.
  • The S.S. Anne is no longer said to return once a year, likely covering up the fact that it never returns after it leaves.
  • The Pokemon Tower now features Double Battles with Elite Four member Agatha, who joins the player in their quest to save Mr. Fuji. Throughout the quest, Agatha speaks of her relations with other major characters, such as the other Elite Four members and Professor Oak.
  • Upon saving the president of Silph Co., Lance says that you are "a trainer with full potential", and teaches you the secrets of Mega Evolution. After teaching you, he gives you a Mega Stone depending on your starter and version.
  • The Fighting Dojo now offers Hitmontop alongside Hitmonlee and Hitmonchan. After beating the game, the player can re-challenge the Dojo to get the other two.
  • In Silph Co., Porygon can be given to the player from one of the Scientists. This is now the only way to obtain Porygon in Kanto; it is no longer given to the player from the Game Corner.
  • The Pokemon Mansion is no longer mandatory to enter Cinnabar Gym; it, however, plays a role in the post-game.
  • Lance now confronts the player in front of Victory Road, handing them an Aerodactylite.
  • The player's rival now speaks about their sadness and emptiness inside upon defeat.

Areas

  • Viridan Forest has now been expanded, adding a small area in the northeast part of the forest.]

New Mega Evolutions

  • Mega Venusaur X (Y is the original one) - Grass/Fighting
    • Becomes bipedal and the flower on its back splits into two smaller flowers that act as cannons of sorts. It is skilled at hand-to-hand combat.
  • Mega Blastoise X (Y is the original one) - Water/Steel
    • Gains an extemely large shell with spikes that can transform into its classic water cannons at any time necessary. It is now quadruped.
  • Mega Raichu - Electric/Dark
    • Has a green aura around it that symbolizes jealousy, likely referencing the fact that its pre-evolution Pikachu is cared about much more than it. It is slowly being consumed by jealous energy and shows hatred toward many Pokemon.
  • Mega Crobat - Poison/Flying
    • How has sharper wings, a more poisonous appearance, and sludge revolving around it.
  • Mega Vileplume - Grass/Poison
  • Mega Bellossom - Grass/Fire
  • Mega Machamp - Fighting
  • Mega Golem - Rock/Fire
    • Has a heated core inside of it that is known to burst at unnecessary times.
  • Mega Dodrio - Psychic/Flying
    • Is now in more control of its elements, being able to manipulate ice, electricity, and fire.
  • Mega Rhyperior - Ground/Steel
  • Mega Starmie - Water/Ghost
  • Mega Electivire - Electric/Fighting
  • Mega Magmortar - Fire/Fighting
  • Mega Lapras - Water/Psychic
  • Mega Dragonite - Dragon/Water
    • Now resembles its pre-evolution, Dragonair, much more.
