Tyrea is a minor antagonistic character in Xenoblade Chronicles and is an agent of the mythical Bionite Order, which works for the High Entia First Consort. She works as a foil to Melia Antiqua in the story, claiming she has no right to inherit the throne because of her Homs lineage. Ironically, as discovered later on, Tyrea is also half-Homs and is loosely related to Melia as Yumea, her father's First Consort, had Tyrea with a uninitiated Homs in secret.

History[]

Xenoblade Chronicles[]

She is first seen masked and kneeling before Yumea Antiqua, the First Consort of the High Entia, with the two plotting against Melia. Tyrea vows to kill Melia, whatever the cost, but Yumea scoffs at her instead and admits she's tired of Tyrea's stupidity. They are then interrupted by Lorithia. After Melia's investiture ceremony, Tyrea and Yumea are once again seen together, this time, Yumea order the deaths of the captive party by the Bionite Order. Kallian sees them both conspiring, but does not hear their plans.

Later Tyrea attacks Melia in the High Entia Tomb, saying that she has no right to call the First Consort "Mother" and that as a half-Homs, she has no right to the throne. Tyrea and a Solidum Telethia that Tyrea seems to have control over swoops down to join the attack. A swift rescue by Shulk and the rest of the party saves Melia.

As she and the Telethia are defeated, Tyrea's mask gets knocked off by the Telethia in its death throes. When Alvis destroys the Telethia, Tyrea disappears in the explosion.

However, this is not the end of Tyrea's story, as it continues in a sidequest in the original Xenoblade Chronicles entitled Melancholy Tyrea, which can be found much later in the game, after Mechonis Core. Tyrea is first found collapsed near the outer gates of Colony 6. Upon finding her Melia tells the party what she knows about Tyrea's heritage as the child of Yumea, the first Consort. Tyrea herself regains consciousness and confirms this before resting again while showing her disdain for Melia.

Once rested up, she leaves the colony only to find trace energies of a Telethia before it appears before her. The party witnesses the Telethia attack at the Reconstruction HQ at the colony and follows it to Makna forest. They believe the Telethia is a transformed Tyrea and defeat it, but it is revealed later that it was Yumea. She thanks them for granting Yumea and Tyrea peace. On a odd note, Dunban states that him and Tyrea have the same goals and their paths will meet again- except they never actually do in the original game.

Additionally, during Melancholy Tyrea, you can find dialouge from Yumea's Maid on Junks revealing that she is part Homs and her long wings are a recessive gene treat.

Xenoblade Chronicles: Future Connected[]

Tyrea has been spotted in Xenoblade Chronicles: Future Connected promotional material.

Description[]

Physical Appearance[]

Tyrea is a white haired High Entia with long wings and has deep blue eyes which is complimented with pink eyeliner. She has two extended out side bangs and a ponytail braided in the back. She wears a brown jacket with pink compliments that is typical of a High Entia member. She has exposed legs from her maroon body suit under the brown jacket that is complimented with thigh high brown and maroon socks and wears brown boots. She additionally wears a Bionite Order mask that is is split into a gold and white side with a gold rim enclosed on the top half of the mask, although this is only seen during battle and meeting with other Bionite Order members.

Personality[]

Tyrea is a vicious woman who is strong in her convictions at the start of the game, and is willing to do whatever is necessary to accomplish her goals. As the game progresses though, she gains a bit more character with the reveal that Yumea is her mother and that she is not entirely High Entia herself. She is protective of the power and status that the High Entia hold and doesn't want Melia to sully such a position, although this may have been out of an attempt to please her mother to some extent. While she is still vindictive against Melia when she recovers during her sidequest, she also seems to be much more at peace and more calm towards the end of the story.

Tyrea is a unlockable character in Super Smash Bros. Discord and has a much more comphesive and complete idea of how she works compared to the previous effort in Super Smash Bros. Assemble.

Tyrea attacks with powerful kicks and able to shift into various arts that double her damage and topple opponents, allow her to drain characters' energy, bind opponents to their current position on the stage, or increase her defense. She can be a dangerous fighter to deal with, but also hard to utilize for newer players. She has a unique jump mechanic that allows her to glide when using her second jump via her wings.

Trivia[]

  • Some sources misidentify Tyrea as being part of Melia's family when they are not directly connected for the most part. Both have different fathers and mothers. Being Yumea's child, she is also Kallian's half sibling. Melia is also Kallian's half sibling through their father Sorean, but Tyrea and Melia do not share parents and are not directly related to one another.
  • Melancholy Tyrea is the only quest in the original Xenoblade Chronicles to feature fully voiced cutscenes. It's also the only time Tyrea is seen without her mask on.
  • She is considered Level 38, alongside the Telethia she fights beside.
  • Interestingly, Tyrea is the only High Entia shown to actually fly with their wings.
