Tyrantrum, known in Japan as ガチゴラス (Gachigoras) is a ruddy Rock/Dragon typed Pokémon. Tyrantrum has evolved from Tyrunt when reaching Level 39 during the day. It is the Kalos Fossil counterpart to Aurorus.

Biology[]

Tyrantrum is a dinosaurian Pokémon, closely resembling the carnivorous T. rex. It is brick-red in color with some scales colored orange. Its head features a large, orange, crown-like crest, with two holes where its eyes are located. Its upper jaw has orange, teeth-like adornations, and its lower jaw is covered in a white, feather-like fringe, resembling a beard. Like Tyrunt, its arms are tiny buts its feet are huge. Both of them also have pitch black claws. Its cheeks and belly is light gray.

Like Tyrunt, Tyrantrum lived about 100 million years ago. Due to its jaws being so powerful it could shred thick metal plates like paper, it was practically invincible in its time, so it behaved like a king with an iron fist.

Trivia[]

Origin[]

Tyrantrum is based on the Tyrannosaurus genus, especially the Tyrannosaurus rex. But it also shared some characteristics to the Carnosauria. The orange crest is similar to that of the Cryolophosaurus. The orange crest and white feathers gives Tyrantrum of a king, with the feathers on its jaw resembling a beard, the crest resembling a crown and the collar-like fringe resembling a cape.

Name Origin[]

Tyrantrum is a combination of Tyrannosaurus, tyrant and tantrum.

Gachigoras might be a combination of チゴラス Chigoras (which is Tyrunt's Japanese name), and ガチ gachi (serious)
