The Simpsons Game 2: Virtual Nightmare is an action, platform and role-playing game based on the 1989 hit television show, The Simpsons and loosely on the cinematic counterpart The Simpsons Movie, to be released solely on the Pacifico platform. It was released in North America in October 2017, and November 2017 world wide, 10 years after the original game was created. It was developed, published and distributed solely by Illusion Works

Development[]

The Simpsons Game 2 has been in development for a long while, however it has always been uncertain whether the project was going to continue or eventually be cancelled. It was finally decided early 2016 that the game would actually go ahead with development, and has since been expanded upon regularly.

Gameplay[]

The Simpsons Game 2's gameplay works the same as the previous installment in the series. You are able to control the colourful cast of Springfield in an extravagant adventure. Every level there are at least two characters that you can play as and control at your own discretion. The game contains twenty four individual levels - regarded as episodes in the game, as well as sixteen classic episodes from the original game that have been carried over with graphical improvements and other revamps to make them more enjoyable, meaning a total of forty episodes overall.

There are also health meters in the game that upon reaching zero will end the level, forcing the player to restart the game from the beginning of the episode. The special meter from the previous game also returns, but instead will activate a "finishing" move to help defeat a lot of enemies on the specific episode.

Characters[]

You unlock characters similarly to that of "LEGO" video games, where you encounter them in a level and play as them through the level, ultimately unlocking them for further use in other levels in the game. So far there are five revealed characters in the game, but it is certain that there will be more unveiled considering the methods of unlocking them.

Plot[]

TBA.

Game Modes[]

Episodic Saga[]

The "Episodic Saga", or quite simply "Episodes", is the main mode of the video game. In Episodic Saga, you play through twenty four individual levels known as Episodes, which all serve as the pieces to an underlying story. You can play the level as any character you have unlocked at the time.
