At the seas, a Pianta is transporting Yoshi to Toad Town with the boat, the Pianta tells Yoshi that there are chunks of Toads full of anger and insulted, Yoshi gets shocked.

- Waluigi originally was not going to be playable, but absent, but Nintendo said there is a false rumor about him being in Super Mario 64 DS, just like Luigi in Super Mario 64, so they have decided to add Waluigi.
- At one point, all heroes were able to rescue Rosalina, but Nintendo wanted to make her a secret unlockable character, then Nintendo created a poll of which character is required to rescue Rosalina, after the poll was closed, Waluigi has won with the most votes.

Controversy[]
After the release of Super Mario 64 Deluxe, PETA developed a flash game to promote the anti-penguin abuse based on the episode "Luigi's Cold Penguin Surfing" of the course "Frosty-Frappe Galaxy". The game consists Luigi, who looks like a brute, the player plays as Luigi and has to chase a Cooligan, when completing it, Luigi grabs the Cooligan by the neck, after that, the player plays as Luigi, who surfs on a exhausted Cooligan with a blue eye, and Luigi has to avoid obstacles, like it does in the episode, after that, a ending cutscene is shown where a group of penguins are surrounding Luigi, about to beat Luigi up.
This was the fifth time PETA has made a flash game out of a Nintendo game, Nintendo tells them that these things wont work. PETA claimed that they only wanted to show Nintendo how it feels as a Penguin that is being surfed on by Luigi.
