Super Wario & Kirby Maker is a spin off of the Super Mario Maker Series and features Wario and Kirby as the prominent series' that players can create levels for. Although Wario and Kirby have their own styles and very different gameplay, the player can actually have either go through a Wario or Kirby styled stage. The game is somewhat of a spiritual successor to Super Mario Maker Phi and features many of the same features though level creation has been entirely redone for Wario and Kirby. It is seen as a budget title akin to Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer.
After Super Mario Maker Phi, a variety of "Maker" games were in consideration to be made as a budget title: Super Wario Maker or a Kirby Maker, among things like a Zelda Maker. Super Wario Maker and Kirby Maker were both separately considered, however Toroko couldn't see them committing fully to either one. The idea to combine them was however, something the company could commit to and began work on the game.
The game wasn't heard of again until about ten months later, where multiple details were divulged. The game would only have two styles: "Wario" and "Kirby", but each style would encompass the features and elements of three games in total. This was a contradiction of what had been said earlier, in that the game was going to have six styles. As revealed later, trying to do six different styles that encompassed the series of Wario and Kirby without breaking the seamless level creation mechanic turned out to be somewhat of a headache to do.
The game's notorious lengthy and silent development cycle was a subject of several opinion pieces in the gaming media, with many opinion pieces calling Toroko out for basically "smoke and mirrors" tactics, speculating that the game was originally announced to boost stocks after a rather disastrous quarter for the company. Reception has been more positive since the game was revealed to still be in development.

Colored
Intro Door
002
Appears at the player's spawn points in Wario-theme levels underground. Cannot be removed.
Colored
Checkpoint
003
Up to 3 checkpoints can be placed down in a level. They require 10 coins to use for each checkpoint. Wario-Theme only.
Colored
Warp Star
004
Up to 3 Warp Stars can be placed down in a single area. These have a set path that the player can take the user to, whether it be a sub area or still part of the level.
Blocks
Image + Name
Info
Ground Block
001
Can't be destroyed. The most basic level designing tool.
Brick Block
002
Block that can be broken by the characters.
Question Block
003
Always has something inside, whether it be a coin or power-up or even an enemy.
Large Question Block
004
Shake a Question Block to get a larger Question Block.
Star Block
005
Star Blocks are very fragile; simply bumping hard into them or landing onto one by jumping from up high will remove it, and they are vulnerable to almost all forms of attacks. They may contain enemies or act as the floor, so destroying them may not be within the player's best interest!
Bomb Block
006
Bomb Blocks can only be destroyed via a attack, causing a chain reaction, usually destroying the blocks around it or creating a path of blocks if shaken.
Purple Block
007
Purple Blocks appear in color regardless of the filter placed on the game. They cannot be broken unless Wario or Kirby have a damaging power-up (Bull Wario or Sword Kirby for example). These blocks can block off certain areas until the player has a specific power-up. Shake to make it cracked. Use a Garlic Pot to make it grow.
Cracked Purple Block
008
Cracked Purple Blocks have to be hit to break, but Wario and Kirby can both break these blocks even in their weakest forms. When destroyed by stronger forms, the impact doesn't knock back the player. Shake to make it uncracked. Use a Garlic Pot to make it grow.
Snowman Block
009
Snowman Blocks can only be destroyed through either Wario plowing through them as Snowman Wario or Kirby using the Ice ability. These blocks can be shaken to get a Dark Purple Snowman Block. Dark Purple Snowman Blocks can only be destroyed through Snowman Wario's maximum size or Ice Elemental Bombs.
Locked Chest
010
Locked Chests contain whatever the user wants to put in them, from coins to enemies to treasure items. The user can place up to 10 and can assign a key to each Locked Chest. By shaking the Locked Chest, the user can get different colors of Locked Chests, with their colored key.
Locked Skull
011
Locked Skulls are similar to Locked Chests, except only a single one can be put down and they have a single key that works for it. When a Skull Key is used on a Locked Skull, it opens up a treasure room that houses a treasure piece.
Power-Ups
Important notes about Power-Ups: While they can be used by anyone, they have different effects depending on the users. Wario and Waluigi share the transformations/hats that come from the power-ups, while Ashley upgrades her spells. Kirby obtains a copy ability where as King Dedede and Meta Knight only heal from these power-ups.

Info
Garlic Pot
001
Turns Small Wario into his Normal form. If his normal form uses a Garlic Pot, he becomes Bull Wario instead. Bull Wario can ground pound and stick to ceilings. When Kirby inhales this, he gets no special power but will heal his health. When Ashley uses it, her spells are standard fireball spells.
Bull Pot
002
When Wario uses the Bull Pot, he becomes Bull Wario. Bull Wario can ground pound and stick to ceilings. When Kirby inhales this, he gets the Hammer ability. When Ashley uses it, she becomes Bull Ashley and her spells become explosive charges.
Jet Pot
003
When Wario uses the Jet Pot, he becomes Jet Wario. Jet Wario can fly horizontally and walk faster. When Kirby inhales this, he gets the Tornado ability. When Ashley uses it, she becomes Jet Ashley and her spells become cloud platforms she can use.
Dragon Pot
004
When Wario uses the Dragon Pot, he becomes Dragon Wario. Dragon Wario can shoot fire out of his hat for a few seconds at the cost of his Barge ability. When Kirby inhales this, he gets the Fire ability. When Ashley uses it, she becomes Dragon Ashley and her spells become fire walls that melt everything in it's path.
Eagle Statue
005
When Wario uses the Eagle Statue, he becomes Eagle Wario. Wario can fly a short distance, as well as move faster when attacking. Wario is lighter in this form, and can get out of quicksand fairly easily. He flies farther and faster than the Jet Pot, but descends faster. When Kirby inhales this, he gets the Parasol ability. When Ashley uses it, she becomes Eagle Ashley and her spells become golden cloud platforms that stay around longer than the cloud platforms from the Jet Pot power-up.
Dragon Crystal
007
When Wario uses the Dragon Crystal, he becomes Sea Dragon Wario. Dragon Wario can shoot fire out of his hat for a few seconds at the cost of his Barge ability. He also becomes much faster underwater, similar to Mario's frog suit ability. When Kirby inhales this, he gets the Spark ability. When Ashley uses it, she becomes Sea Dragon Ashley and her spells become water jets that push and damage everything in it's path.
+ +
Dragon Crystal + Eagle Staute
006 + 007
When Wario uses collects both power-ups, he becomes King Dragon Wario. King Dragon Wario can fly and spit out fire but cannot Barge. It is the fastest power-up in the air and in the water, but one of the slowest on the ground. When Ashley uses both, she becomes Queen Dragon Ashley and her spells become golden fireballs that turn enemies into solid gold.
Vampire Jug
008
When Wario uses collects the Vampire Jug, he becomes Vampire Wario. Vampire Wario can fly by tapping the button and has a enhanced dash that destroys most enemies and purple blocks. When Ashley uses the Vampire Jug, she becomes Vampire Ashley and her spells become red swerving projectiles that drain health from enemies.

Coin
001
A single coin won't get you very far! When enemies are killed with a Barge attack, they drop a coin.
10 Coin
002
Obtained by shaking a regular coin. These fancy coins are worth 10 coins. Wario can produce these near checkpoint or exit doors. Some enemies produce these if they squish other enemies.
Copy Abilities
Enemies
Image + Name
Info
Wanderin' Goom
001
A tiny and meek enemy that wanders around and cannot harm Wario or Kirby. In fact, it falls onto it's back whenever it hits a object. Haha, what a wimp!
Pirate Goom
002
A darker colored Goom holding a spear that's actually able to hurt Wario and Kirby. They're easily disposed of, though, simply by charging behind them or jumping on them to turn them over. By shaking the Pirate Goom, the player can get the Wario Land 2 appearance of the Pirate Goom, which has no differences.
Helmut
003
A spiked mollusk that bobs up and down in the water, with a vulnerable underside that Wario and Kirby can attack to defeat it.
Pinwheel
004
Pinwheels are sea-horse looking goons that curl up into a spiked formation should Wario and Kirby get close and swipe from left to right before uncurling. Wario and Kirby can defeat them easily in their uncurled states.
Pouncer
005
Pouncers act similar to Thwomps, except they can be programmed to follow a path and crush enemies to create a 10 Coin. If Wario or Kirby gets crushed by them or touch their spikes, they instantly die. The only safe spot is on top of their heads.
In the course editor, you can use these tools to assist in level building. These tools replace the cursor while being used.

This tool allows you to paint blocks to be different colors such as the Question Block, Brick Block, and much more!
Horostar Wand
002
This tool has a different range of erasing functions. It can be used to erase blocks only, enemies only, items only, or erase everything.
Code Cube
003
This tool can be used to program new behaviors into objects, defined in a set of variables. Waddle Dees can be programmed to use certain attacks for example, and give different copy abilities. These range from very simple to very complex. Despite the name though, there's no actual coding here.
Game Modes
In addition to the Course Maker, Super Wario & Kirby Maker features seven game modes: 10 Lives Challenge, 100 Lives Challenge, Horostar Adventure, Course World, Course Races, Creation Community, and WarioWare: Kirby Gourmet Deluxe.

These cards act somewhat similarly to the Custom Cards from Super Mario Maker Phi, except they give the player a starting power-up to use during The 100 Lives challenge run. The player can hold up to three Power Cards, although each comes at the cost of a 1-Up collection slot. Use three cards, the player can no longer gain 1-Ups during 100 Lives Challenge runs.

Base Game
All Costume Pot costumes in Super Wario & Kirby Maker.
Super Wario & Kirby Maker was made because the Wario stuff was going to be added into Super Mario Maker Phi, but would have felt too out of place. Kirby's stuff was added to give flavor to what would have been just a Wario maker, which Toroko wasn't too interested in developing as a stand alone concept as well as their similarities.
The game comes out in 2017, the 25th anniversary of both Kirby and Wario.
