Super Smash Bros for Wii U and NX is the 5th instalment of the Super Smash Bros. series. The game was announced in 2016 and will be released in 2019 (Wii U version on March 8th and NX version on July 16th). The company Gaming Gru's also helped.


In 2016, Nintendo announced the introduction of the next game to be released in the Super Smash Bros. series. It was announced for the Nintendo Wii U and Nintendo NX and was slated for a 2019 release date. During this time period, trailers were released for each member of the character roster.

Fighter Trailers:

Puzzles a Dozen

This was the first trailer released for the game. The trailer focused on the first of many newcomer characters, Banjo and Kazooie.

The Half-Genie Hero

This was the second trailer released for the game. This trailer focused on Shantae, the main protagonist of the Shantae series.

Up a Notch

This was the third trailer released for the game. The trailer focused on fan favourite and one of the most requested characters, Steve, who originated from the Minecraft universe.

Taking the Throne

This was the fourth trailer released for the game. The trailer focused on villains King K. Rool and Bowser. This was the first trailer to reveal a veteran fighter.

The Men of Video Games

This was the fifth trailer released for the game. The trailer focused on third-party characters with the word fragment, "man" in them. Characters revealed were Mega Man, Rayman and Pac-Man.

Stage After Stage

This was the sixth trailer released for the game. The trailer focused on stages Mines, Risky's Ship and Nintendo Land. This was the first trailer to reveal stages.

1st SSBFWUANX Trailer

This was the seventh trailer released for the game. It was also the first official trailer. In the end, Crash Bandicoot appeared, signalling his appearance in the game.

Mr. Show-Off

This was the eighth trailer released for the game. The trailer focused on fan-game character, Fancy Pants, signalling Nintendo's intention to acknowledge fangame creators in the Smash Bros. series.

Fluffy Fear

This was the ninth trailer released for the game. The trailer revealed newcomer from the Kirby series, Prince Fluff joining the fray.

Goin' Retro

This was the tenth trailer released for the game. The trailer focused on Nintendo oldies from the 80's, such as Little Mac, Mr. Game & Watch and R.O.B..

His Body is Ready

This was the eleventh trailer released for the game. The trailer revealed that Nintendo of America's President and C.O.O.. Reggie Fils-Aime, would be joining the battle.

The Mage and the Witch

This was the twelfth trailer released for the game. The trailer showcased on two magic users, Black Mage from the Final Fantasy series and Bayonetta from the Bayonetta series.

2nd Smash Bros trailer: This video is a second tralier for SSB5. It shows the return of Master Hand.

Ligit: This was a april fools video that "shows" the heavy, Super meat boy, and HIM joining.

Street worrior: This video shows that Ryu (with a Ken alt.) will return.

A Fanon war: This video shows Mcboo joining the roster and a Fantendo wiki stage.

The red ranger: This video shows Proto man joining the roster.

The final roster: This is the last SSB5 video, showing all the other people.

A (kinda small) hero pack: This DLC shows 3 DLC characters: Chibi-robo, Olimar, and Ice climbers.

Nastalgia pack: This pack shows Sonic, Snake, and wolf coming to DLC. Also 4 stages: Peach's castle 64, Hyrule castle 64, Poke' flotes, and Kongo jungle 64.

Stage pack: this Pack has 4 more stages: Fire embellum arena, Dr. wily's castle, Goredo village, and Halbird.


SSBFWANX (or SSB5 as referd to by fans.) has mostly the same gameplay as the installments before. The only diffrence being that the controls are more Melee then Brawl. Also, there are a new type of Smash ball called the Power ball, which is a weaker final smash. There is also bond assists, were an spacific assist trophy while playing as a spacific character does 2x better then normal.


GROUP: Group contains Smash, Custom smash, Rules, 8-player smash, and Omega Smash (more about that later.)

SOLO: Solo contains Classic mode, All-star mode, Events, Training, and Multi-man melee.

EXTRA: Extra contains Amiibo support, Stage maker, Vault, Options, and Credits.

ONLINE: Online contains Online battle, Spectate, 1v1, and a new one, Streetpass Riot.

STORY: This contains the games story mode.


There are 66 characters, 30 starter, 30 unlockable, 6 DLC.


There are 38 stages, 20 starter, 10 unlockable, 8 DLC.


BATTLEFEILD: Like most of the SSB games, it's a normal, plain stage with 3 platforms.

FINAL DESTINATION: It's still a flat stage in the middle of space, but it looks more like a meteor.

CASTLE CORTYARD: This is the front yard of the castle. Not much happens, but a Toad can run across.

HYRULE FEILD: Here, in the daylight, nothing happens, but at night, Redeads will attack.

DREAMLAND: It acts exactly like it does in past SSB games. 

AIRWING STAGE: Its a star fox stage. Nuff said.

D.K'S TREE HOUSE: There are two platforms: DK's tree house on one end, and a tree on the other.

ONETT: mostly the same as the other SSB games.

SAMUS'S GUNSHIP: You basically fight on her gunship. Not much eals, but the backround moves.

POKEMON STAIDIUM: Mostly the same as the past SSB games.

GRUNTILDA'S FORTRESS: Its not too specal, just a flat stage.

KING KNIGHTS ARENA: Sometimes, confetti will rain down, hurting players.

MINECRAFT MINES: Creepers will come in and randomly explode, distroying a chunk of the level.

DR. CORTEX'S BLIMP: Its just a blimp stage.

WARIO WARE, INC: Exactly like past instalments.

DOODLE WORLD: Its a fancy paints stage. Nuff said.

RISKY BOOT SHIP: Sometimes, canons will randomly shoot canonballs.

FANTENDO WIKI: It's this games version of the MIIvers stage from SSB4.

NINTENDOGS+CATS: Exactly like from SSB4.

NINTENDO WII U: While fighting, classic games will show up on the screen.


LUIGI'S MANSION: Exactly like past SSB games.

KING DEDEDE'S ARENA/PUNCH OUT: Sometimes its DeDeDe, others its Punch out!!.


SNAKE MAN'S BATTLEROOM: Sometimes, Snake man comes in and poses. This does nothing.

PAC-MAN MAZE: When you "eat" a Power Pellet, you gain temperary invincabilaty.

TETRIS STAGE: Watch out for the falling blocks.


WII SPORTS: Watch out for Mii's.

TABBU'S BATTLEFEILD: Its pretty much a reskined Final destination.

NINTENDO LAND: Its nintendo land. Nuff said.

Assist Trophys:

New modes:

  • Omega Smash: Omega smash is a mode where all characters on the feild get a giant buff in there stats, like power, speed, defence, Etc.
  • Streetpass Riot: In Streetpass Riot, up to 30 players online go into one big arena. There, you can chose who you would like to fight. Winning fights will give you items.
  • Story mode: Story mode is like the Subspace Emesary, but with a diffrent plot. Click the picture below to see the plot and other stuff about it.
