Yoshi is Mario’s trusted partner who has braved many adventures with him during their time together. Yoshi is actually a species of dinosaur like creatures that come in an array of colors but they are all rather cheerful creatures. They have the unique abilities of slurping up baddies and popping out (or out of) eggs.

Gameplay
One of Yoshi’s most startling differences amongst the cast is he lacks an Up Special Recovery move. However, to compensate, he has a higher jump and a floaty second jump.

Role in World of Light
Yoshi is encountered by Mario during the Mario Arc though he isn’t made available until the Peach Arc. Once rescued, he will depart from the group and later be involved in reviving Olimar and Pokemon Trainer as well as fighting Rathalos. Yoshi is present in the final chapters when fighting the final bosses.

Side Special Egg Roll Yoshi will encase himself in a large Yoshi Egg after a small hop then roll around the stage. Damage is proportional to momentum. Can jump once during the move. 10% -13.8% 200px
Up Special Egg Throw Throws to Yoshi Egg that travels on a controllable, parabolic arc. When used in midair, the first three throws grant Yoshi significant vertical distance based on his current vertical momentum, with the largest possible jump being as high as his double jump. 6% 200px
Down Special Yoshi Bomb A Ground Pound that produces damaging stars upon landing. 4% (hop), 15% (grounded Ground Pound), 12% (aerial Ground Pound), 4% (stars) 200px
Final Smash Mega Eggdozer Yoshi performs a dance which causes a massive egg to fall from the sky. It lands with a large impact and then rolls either to the right ot left which deals damage. It will eventually either explode or fall off the stage. 12% (fall), 20% (crash), 8% (per hit rolling), 10% (final fall), 22% (explosion) 200px
Final Smash Level 2 Super Dragon Grows a pair of angelic wings that allow him to freely fly around. While transformed, Yoshi can fire large Fireballs from his mouth when the attack or special attack buttons are pressed. 3% (idle / ram), 18% (near Fireball), 14% (mid Fireball), 12% (far Fireball), 6% (near Fire Breath), 4% (mid Fire Breath), 3% (far Fire Breath) 200px
Final Smash Level 3 Stampede! Yoshi rushes forward and attacks the opponent with a upwards headbutt. If the attack hits, it cuts to a cinematic cutscene that takes place in a rocky gorge. Suddenly, an stampede of multicolored Yoshis are seen rushing down the gorge, and they attack by trampling the opponent. 6% (hit one), 46% (hits from other Yoshis) 200px

Entrance Animations
Eggxactly Flutter Dino Good Morning!
Bursts out of a Yoshi Egg and strikes to pose. Uses his legs to slow his descent from the top. Appears to be sleeping and is woken up. He then jumps to his feet.
Taunts

1 Dances around in a circle and then says "Yoshi!" upon finishing Straightens up and looks behind his back at his tail. Jumps up and down while looking forward and waving his arms.
2 Sits down, curls up, and sleeps momentarily before getting back up. Chases his tail, then briefly pauses to stare at it. Stamps twice and hunches over while performing a cute “Jurassic Park Raptor” pose with my mouth open. He even does a small roar.
3 Walks in place while looking to the right and then to the left. Spins around on one leg before stopping, performing a pose, and saying “Yoshi!” Looks towards the screen, then jumps excitedly up and down while flailing his arms and saying "Yoshi! Yoshi!"
Idle Poses

Performs a short dance. Stands up straight and smiles. Closes his eyes as his falling asleep and then wakes up.
Walks in place slightly. Looks around. Swishes his tail to the right and left.
Victory Animations

Angrily performs two alternating punches, then turns his back to the screen while looking to the right. Takes out an egg and aims it closely before throwing it towards the camera. Several different colored Yoshi runs past as the player’s Yoshi stops and performs a one arm punch pose.
Yoshi appears within an Egg as it rolls forward. He then bursts out with his hands outstretched. Looks up at the sky with his hands together, spins once, and then strikes the V sign . Appears to be sleeping but is woken awake by the splash sound effect. He appears quite shaken up.
Arrives via Yoshi Bomb and gets up. However, he begins rubbing his bum as if it hurt to do the Yoshi Bomb. Chases his tail several times and then falls over dizzy. Punches the air, then strikes a pose with his arms outstretched.
