Superslamjam

Super Slam Jam is an umbrella sports game developed and publish by Lazy Studios. The game centers around the "Super Slam Jam Tournament", where 20 individuals (alongside a few fusions and a duo) are chosen to participate in a massive basketball game, where the winner is made the "God of All Basketball".

Story[]

The story mainly centers around a god-like being known as "The God of Basketball". Wishing to show the entire universe that basketball is the best sport humanity has ever created, he starts up a tournament known as the "Super Slam Jam Tournament", inviting contestants from all across the dimensions to compete. The winner of the tournament is said to gain the title of "God of All Basketball", alongside whatever they wish desired. You, as one of the many characters, team up with two others, are must compete in various cups in order to earn trophies, and eventually face the God of Basketball himself in an all-out basketball match.

Gameplay[]

General[]

The main goal of Super Slam Jam is to, well, play basketball. Players are split into teams of three, one character designated as the "captain" which, while not having any benefits in gameplay, do appear in match intros. Players must earn points by shooting basketballs into the hoop, and the player with the most points by the end of two periods win the game. Two points are earned when a player shoots the ball into the hoop, while three points are obtained if the player shoots the ball into the hoop from beyond the 3-point line.

By default, games have two periods, each three minutes long. At the start of each period, the ball is placed at the middle of the court, and players must run towards the ball and grab it. The team with the ball is known as the Offense and can pass the ball, or shoot it into the gall. The team without the ball is known as the Defense, and can block the ball or steal it from them. When a team has possession of the ball, a 30 second shot clock starts, and that team can only have possession of that ball for that time. If the shot clock runs out, the ball launches out of the player's hand and is given to the nearest enemy player.

Health[]

Unlike normal basketball, attack other players is permitted (for some reason). Players can freely tackle other players, or launch the ball at other players to damage them. Getting hit will cause your health meter to go down. If your health meter is completely drained, that player is KOed until the next period, leaving you without one player for the rest of the match. If all three players in a team are KOed, it ends in a disqualifications, and that team loses immediately.

Slam Meter & Skills[]

As players make shots, pass the ball, take and deal attacks, their team's "Slam Meter" charges up. Players can spend the Slam Meter to perform "Specials". Each player is equipped with three Specials: an Offensive Special, which can be performed while holding the ball, a Defensive Special, which is performed while not holding the ball, and a Super Slam Special, which take some time to charge, but will almost always lead to a successful shot, or create powerful effects. Offensive and Defensive specials use up 1/4 of the Slam Meter, while Super Slam specials use 3/4ths of it. Certain Offensive Specials grant the ball special effects, which can be passed to other players or even combined with other specials to create powerful combos. Just be careful, you only get one shot, and the ball will lose its effects if you are hit.

Each tourney is split into a cup, where the player must defeat three teams in order to win. If they lose, they can try again, though they only have three retries before they are forced to quit.

Each cup has both a Normal difficulty and Hard difficulty (unlocked after beating all the cups in Normal). After completing a cup, you unlock a character.

Exhibition[]

Exhibition Mode is the game's versus mode, allowing up to six players to play against each other locally, or with CPUs. You can choose what opponents you fight, alongside the court, and the rules. You can change things like time, the number of periods, what items appear, or if courts will have hazards or not.

Challenges[]

Challenges serves somewhat as the game's tutorial, allowing them to learn about the game's basic mechanics and how to perform them, alongside learning all of the abilities of each of the game's characters.

Online[]

Online allows the player to assemble a team and face off against other players online. Defeat enemies to increase your ranking, but losing will cause your ranking to go down.

Locker Room[]

The Locker Room is the location of the game's extras. Here, the player can purchase custom balls and alternate costumes in the shop, view character bios and models, change the settings and view their records.

SCP-106

SCP-106SlamJam

SCP-106, also known as the Old Man, is a Keter-class humanoid SCP object contained by the SCP Foundation. A dangerous being, it is capable of travelling through a pocket dimension where it has full control over time and space. For some reason it fights alongside the femur breaker, a device used to contain him.

Super Slam Special:

Road Rolla Da! - Uzaki winds up and throws the ball at high speed towards the hoop. Once it hits the backboard, Dio appears, dropping a road roller onto the hoop, sending the ball through it and completely destroying the hoop.

Defensive Special:

The World - Dio summons his stand, The World, and stops time in an area around him. A very useful ability, though it takes a bit to time to charge when used. Dio and Uzaki are free to move in the area while the time stop is active.

Trivia[]

General[]

  • Super Slam Jam's largest inspiration is Slam Jam Warriors, a game created by SilvakTheGuy (tbc), which was scrapped when he decided to leave Fantendo. After this, Crakabo decided he wanted to borrow the idea from them, and after getting permission, was allowed to make a spiritual successor to it.
  • This is Crakabo's second umbrella game after Magnesium Ironsiders, a scrapped fighting game.

Characters[]

  • Much of the cast comes from various franchises that the creators enjoyed, while others (such as Indoraptor, SCP-106, Uzaki and Dio, and SansBob) were chosen because of how absurd they are.
  • Of the cast, Micheal Jordan, Venom and Mr. Electric were the only characters from Slam Jam Warriors to appear in this game.
  • Brody Foxx was added as the result of a contest on Discord in which the first person who commented to a message made by Crakabo could have whatever character they wanted. The winner was El Guac (tbc).
  • Crakabo has no idea why he decided that SCP-106 should ride the Femur Breaker, besides it looking cool.
  • Gary's appearence in this game resembles the artstyle of Sr Pelo (which was done on purpose since Gary has the ability to scream really loud).
  • Gary having the ability to shrink enemies with his screams is a reference to Mario Strikers Charged where Bowser Jr. does the same (though I have no idea why).
