Super Mario World: Return of Bowser is a game developed for the Wii U and 3DS by Nintendo. It plays much like Super Mario World, but it has more power-ups, playable characters, a challenge mode, and a multiplayer mode featuring up to 4 players.

Plot

One day in the Koopa Kingdom, the Koopa Troop was planning an invasion on Dinosaur Land. The Koopa Troop, under Bowser's command, sent the seven Koopa Kids and Bowser Junior out to take over each region of Dinosaur Land. Meanwhile, at the Mushroom Castle, Princess Peach recived a plea from the Yoshis of Yoshi's Island to aid them in fighting off the Koopa Troop and keeping peace in Dinosaur Land. The princess rushed to the Mario Bros. residence and told them about the situation. Just as Mario and Luigi were about to set off to Dinosaur Land, the princess requested that she could come to assist them as well. The brothers agreed, and the three set off to stop the forces of the dastardly Koopa Troop.

Gameplay

The gameplay is very much like that of Super Mario World, except that it features 4 playable characters and has enhanced Wii U/3DS controls. With the characters come their own unique special ability. Special abilities are powerful moves unique to their respective characters. They can be preformed by collecting 2 Dragon Coins, and then can be used by pressing the L and R triggers simutaneously. Once the special move is used, more Dragon Coins must be collected to be used again. Also, when a level is started, the player is granted the option to change their character for about 5 seconds. They can also be changed when starting a file or on the map screen.

Modes

There are a total of 3 different modes featured in the game. The first one is standard singleplayer, which has, obviously, one player. Multiplayer can feature up to 4 players at one time. On Wii U, one person plays with the Gamepad while everyone else uses Wii Remotes. There is an option to use only Wii Remotes, however, a fifth player can be on the Gamepad and create Boost Blocks. This is the same in the 3DS version, but players use multiple 3DS handhelds and one player can be either randomly selected or voted to use the touchscreen controls, which are the same as the Gamepad Boost Mode function. If the vote is equal, one player is randomly selected. Players can also bubble by pressing either one of the triggers/bumpers. However, the last player not in a bubble cannot bubble themself. Challenge Mode is the final mode featured in the game, where players are tasked with assigned goals in certain levels. Depending on how well the player does this, they can get a Gold Medal, Silver Medal, or Bronze Medal. If the player gets at least all Silver Medals, Rosalina is unlocked as a playable character.

	Toad, Princess Peach's secondary advisor, has set off on his own to rescue Dinosaur Land and help the Yoshis claim it back from Bowser's forces. Unfortunately for him, he got kidnapped after he arrived. Lucky for him, Mario, Luigi, and Peach came just in time to save him. 	Rosalina, the maiden of the stars, can join Mario and co. on their adventure to save Dinosaur Land from Bowser! But she's nowhere to be found in such a place. Where could she be?	Special Ability - Star Vortex: A large Power Star is summoned onscreen, as it sucks up every enemy onscreen (excluding bosses) and turns them into 1-Ups, and, naturally, defeats them. Ally Characters

	Yoshi, along with his friends, appear in this adventure to aid Mario and company in claiming Dinosaur Land back from Bowser!	Can be ridden by any character. Green Yoshis have no special power but can use any ability depending on the color of the shell in his mouth, red ones breathe three fireballs when spitting a shell out, yellow ones can cause an earthquake dizzying all enemies onscreen and defeats nearby ones, and the blue ones can fly.
	Donkey Kong, the savior of DK Island, has come to Dinosaur Land as well to help Yoshi and his friends out. However, he and his little pal Diddy Kong, were captured and stuffed into boxes by Bowser and his army! Luckily, Mario and co. can break him out of box and ride him to burst through blocks and plow through enemies!	Donkey Kong can be ridden by any character, and functions similar to Rambi. He can plow through Brick Blocks, Flip Blocks, and used blocks. If he runs into a Question Block, the item or coin will come out and then can be destroyed. Unlike Yoshi, Donkey Kong cannot be taken out of levels.
