|Super Mario Stars|
|Series||Super Mario series|
Super Mario Stars is a 2.5D side-scrolling Mario game developed and published by Nintendo. It was released on the Nintendo Switch.
A letter is sent to the Mario Bros residence. It's opened at it reads:
- "Dear reader, you have been invited to the 100th Anniversary of the Castle's Power Stars which protect the kingdom."
Mario and Luigi get ready and venture towards the castle, starting with a tutorial level. Upon getting to the Castle, the party has already started. However, Mario notices how Princess Peach is noticably absent. He goes towards the upper floor but instead finds her trapped in a dark bubble. Then, a Ztar (black star with white angry eyes) blasts through the window and knocks out Mario. It flys away with Peach, unconcious in the bubble.
Mario wakes up later to find the Castle in ruins. Mario goes down to the Party Room and finds Toadsworth knocked out. He explains that the castle was attacked by the Ztars. The Ztars are negative powers of energy and the opposite of the Power Stars. The Power Stars were handed down by the Star Sprites to protect the Mushroom Kingdom by the evil Ztars. However, due to the Grand Star's age, it loses the ability to protect the kingdom. The Ztars blew everyone else away from the Castle. So, Mario quickly ventures onto a new adventure.
Mario travels through various worlds, fighting many enemies and Ztar-possessed equivalents. Along with Ztar-possessed Bosses. Along the way, he finds many of his friends, such as Luigi, Toad and Toadette, unlocking them as playable characters. He also finds the pieces of the Grand Star. However, at the end of World 4, Bowser's Airship crashes by with Bowser on it, not pleased how the world is being taken over by someone else. Mario manages to sneak onto the airship and fights Bowser Junior. However, after he's done, the airship gets attacked! Mario runs straight out towards Bowser, and he finds out that the Ztars are attacking the ship. The ship begins to crash towards World 5, and Mario and Bowser are separated.
Getting to the World 5's final area, "Tear in the World", Mario and co. encounter the Grand Ztar and the centre of the tear in the fabric of time and space. Peach is trapped there, used as a Power Source along with the final Grand Star Piece. The heroes would proceed to battle the Grand Ztar, however, the battle gets interupted halfway by Bowser, who would set the Ztar ablaze. The Ztar, however, would fly towards bowser and go into his mouth, turning him into "Grand Ztar Bowser", a giant monsterous beast. However, using the power of the rejoined Grand Star, the beast is defeated. Mario and co. now with Peach and the Power Stars, return back to the Mushroom Kingdom.
Peace is restored to the Kingdom after the last adventure, and Toad Town and the Castle are being fixed. However, all is not well as the Mario Bros are informed that there's some strange activity going around at Bowser's Castle. Peach sends the Mario Bros and Toad to find out what's going on, but after beating the first plus world, they're attacked by Bowser Jr.'s airship.
Ofcourse, Bowser is back at it again and Mario and co. must go through four more worlds to stop him. Each world has a tower and a castle where one of Bowser's most loyal henchmen stay.
Upon encountering World 5's final castle, it's shown that Bowser is still under control by the Grand Ztar. After beating the Koopalings, Mario and co. have the final showdown with Grand Ztar Bowser. At the end, the Grand Ztar escapes from Bowser and flies back into the galaxy.
|Mario||It'sa him, Mario! The happy-go-lucky hero of the Mushroom Kingdom is out on yet another adventure! He's great for beginners as he's got an easy playstyle! He jumps well, he runs well, he stops well, he's the best of the best! To unlock him, you don't have to! He's there at the start of the game!|
|Luigi||Never fear, Luigi is here to do it for you! It's Luigi, Mario's brother and absolute scaredy cat. His cowardliness causes him to slip and slide everywhere, and makes him jump real high. He can also use the "Scuttle Jump" which allows him to slowly descend while falling. To unlock him, you must beat World 1!|
|Toad||One of Peach's loyal assistants, it's Toad! The fastest out of the characters, but suffers in lack of jump height and poor swimming ability. However, Toad is still there to help, even if he can't jump as high! Great for those levels you just wanna run through! To unlock him, you must beat World 3!|
|Toadette||Toadette is a sister you can always count on! She's always there to help and she's here to help right now! She's probably the best swimmer in the game and the quickest stopper in the game! She can run, then stop! That's experience from being a referee! To unlock her, you must beat World 3!|
|Princess Peach||Princess Peach, the princess of the Mushroom Kingdom and the damsel in distress. This time, however, the Ztars have kidnapped her, not Bowser! Hurry Mario, you have to save her!|
|Toadsworth||An elderly toad that looks after Princess Peach, Toadsworth is a treasure chest of knowledge, so if you need a hint, ask him! However, I wouldn't bother him too much, he's still worrying about the Princess.|
|Yoshi||The Mario Bros' loyal steed and friend, Yoshi is always here to help! Free to be riden in the Yoshi Resort, these Yoshis have been trapped in Eggs by the Ztars! It's terrible! You must free them!|
World 1: Shroom Forest
Shroom Forest is the first world of Super Mario Stars. As it names suggests, it's a forest filled with various mushrooms and mushroom platforms. As the first world, it is the most easiest and has more of the easier enemies.
The boss of this world is King Goomboss, who has put a Ztar on his crown, possessing him. He viciously dashes at you, trying to trample you. However, overgrown mushrooms allow you to jump up and wall jump onto his head. Eventually after three hits, Goomboss falls to the ground and the Ztar flies off his crown, which drops the first fifth of the Grand Star.
After beating the boss, the Ztar would fly around and fly by Luigi. Since Mario's in pursuit, he finds Luigi and wakes him up. Luigi afterwards gets unlocked, along with the multiplayer mode.
World 2: Tropical Oasis
Tropical Oasis is the second world, and it's a desert based area with a lot of patches of water, and a massive pyramid in the middle of the map. Mario has to go round the whole pyramid to get to the entrance of it.
The boss of the Pyramid is King Totomesu, with a Ztar on his forehead. King Totomesu is turned bigger by the Ztar. King Totomesu jumps around, trying to jump on the player. Once it lands, it breathes fire out towards the player. King Totomesu takes three hits to be defeated, but gets faster after every hit. After being defeated, the Ztar flies off his forehead and King Totomesu shrinks back down to regular size.
World 3: Yoshi Resort
Yoshi Resort is the third world. It's a little island with a giant mountain and a beach. The beach has a resort, and between the beach and mountain is a grassy tropical area. This is the main area where you get to use Yoshis.
The boss of this world is a Giant Ztar Guy. They would throw Shy Guys at you, and jump around. Yoshi is given in this boss fight and the player has to spit the Shy Guys into Giant Ztar Guy. After 5 hits, the Giant Ztar Guy falls over and the Ztar leaves through his Mask Eye. He turns back into a Giant Shy Guy afterwards.
At the end of this world, you find Toad and Toadette relaxing on the Beach. Mario and Luigi find them and they join the adventure as playable characters. Toadette directs them to a cannon which sends them to World 4, Sunny Skyline.
World 4: Sunny Skyline
Sunny Skyline is the second to last world. It's a typical sky world, with a bright sky and sun. There's various vines and blocks around too.
The boss is Lakithunder.
World 5: Ztar Rift
World 1+: Floral Field
Floral Field is the first world of the Plus Story. It's a wonderful bright field with various Fire Flowers about. However, the other half is icy and cold, with Ice Flowers instead. There's also times where it's stormy, and there's Thunder Flowers, the new item.
The Castle boss of this world is Petey Piranha, who ate a Ztar. His main attack is to breathe dark fire towards the player, and then fly into the air, and swoop down. They can be hit while they swoop down, and take five hits to be beaten. However, if caught by the swoop, the player will get eaten and lose their power-up.
World 4+: Neo Bowser City
Neo Bowser City is the fourth world of the Plus Story. It's based off of the Neo Bowser City originally from Mario Kart 7. The Castle is actually a Skyscraper.
The boss of this world is Metal Mario, who's using a Ztar to power himself. Metal Mario will counter and copy most of your moves. If Mario jumps, he jumps. It's easier to hit him when he's busy throwing his Blue Fireballs and charging his Blue Big Fireballs. The more you hit him, the faster he gets, and he takes 5 hits to defeat.
World 5+: Lethal Darkness
