Super Mario Maker ∞ (Also known as Super Mario Maker Infinity) is the direct sequel to the critically acclaimed Super Mario Maker. The game focuses on increasing the player's freedom removing many of the restrictions imposed in Super Mario Maker allowing the player to further express their creativity. It contains new features such as near-infinitely large levels. All levels from Super Mario Maker are playable on Super Mario Maker ∞.

Editor Features[]

Unlike the first game, everything in the editor is unlocked from the start. (Costumes still have to be unlocked.)

The starting and ending platforms can now be edited, and the starting arrow and the Goal Pole (Goal Tape/Roulette Box in SMW/SMB3 styles respectively) can be moved freely.

Styles[]

Styles only affect the background of the level, blocks and music can be chosen freely.

Themes[]

Themes act the same as they did in Super Mario Maker, with the addition of the New Super Mario Bros. and Super Mario All-Stars themes.

Blocks[]

As previously mentioned, you can choose any block regardless of style, allowing you to have snow in a volcano level for example.

Block Description
Ground Defaults to the current style. Indestructible. Shake to switch styles.
? Block Drag an item or enemy onto it, and it will be released when the player hits it. Shake to remove the item.
Brick Block Acts similarly to a ? Block, however if it doesn't contain an item it can be destroyed by the player, unless the player is in their small form.

Hard Block

Can only be destroyed with immense force, i.e. an explosion or a Thwomp. Shake to switch styles.

Used Block

The remnants of what used to be a ? Block or Brick Block that contained an item. Acts the same as a Hard Block.
Ice Block Slippery. Otherwise acts as a Hard Block.
Bridge Semi-solid. Can be extended horizontally. Shake to switch styles.
Semi-Solid Platform Semi-solid. Can be extended horizontally and vertically. Shake to open a menu where you can choose which specific platform you want. Mushroom platforms have been merged with these.
Spike Hurts the player if touched. Indestructible. Shake to switch styles.
Note Block

Bounces the player if stood on. Can hold items and enemies like ? blocks, but will release them downwards if bounced on and doesn't turn into a Used Block.

Donut Platform Semi-solid. Will fall down if stood on for too long. Shake to turn into a Red Donut Platform.
Red Donut Platform Semi-solid, Falls down if stood on at all. Shake to turn into a normal Donut Platform.
Moving Platform Moves along tracks, or up and down/side to side. Length and speed can be customized.
Skull Raft Moves along tracks. Shake to turn into a Blue Skull Platform, which moves faster.
Cloud Platform Semi-solid. Can be destroyed by Thwomps and Skewers.
Invisible ? Block Acts exactly the same as a ? Block but is invisible until hit. Cannot be collided with from the sides or top if not hit.
One-Way Gate Can only be collided with in one direction. Direction can be changed. Indestructible.
Conveyor Belt Moves objects along itself. Speed and length can be customized. Indestructible.
