Super Mario: Universal Rift is an Platformer game. It is a game where Bowser sends Mario through different universes so he can finally marry Princess Peach.

Mushroom Universe[]
The Mushroom Universe is the mainstream Mario universe. This is the universe Bowser defeated Mario in.
Paper Universe[]
Like I have to explain it. The Paper Universe is the universe that Paper Mario lies in.
Takeover Universe[]
The Takeover Universe is a "What if" alternate universe. What the Mushroom Universe would look like if Bowser won.
Reverse Universe[]
The Reverse Universe is another alternate universe. What the Mushroom Universe would look like if Luigi was Mario.
Mario & Luigi Universe[]
The Mario & Luigi Universe is the Mario and Luigi series universe.
Paint Universe[]
The Paint Universe is what the Mushroom Universe would look like if the entire universe was covered in paint.
Donkey Kong Universe[]
The Donkey Kong Universe is the universe where Mario fought Donkey Kong.
Retro Universe[]
The Retro Universe is the universe of the original Retro Mario.
Final Universe[]
The Final Universe is the last universe of the game and it's where you play as all Mario's to defeat Bowser.

Plot[]
Mushroom Universe[]
Mario is in the Mushroom Kingdom hanging out with Peach and Luigi. Then suddenly Bowser comes in and holds out some strange gun. Luigi tries to protect Peach while Mario charges Bowser. Bowser jumped out of the way and shot the gun and Mario disappeared. With Mario gone Bowser has no one to stop him from marring Peach and ruling the Kingdom.
Paper Universe[]
Mario lands in the Paper Universe. He is confused about where he is but then Paper Mario appeared in front of him. Remembering who Paper Mario is from Mario and Luigi: Paper Jam they teamed up to stop Bowser. They ran through the Paper Kingdom to see Paper Bowser on top of a cloud shooting flames at them. They run through his kingdom to face Paper Bowser. Upon defeat Mario gets a shard of the Universe Star and goes on to the next universe.
Takeover Universe[]
Now in a different universe Mario is shocked to see that the kingdom is destroyed. He sees that he is in the Takeover Universe and he finds Slave Mario polishing King Bowser's crown. Mario taking down King Bowser's minions motivated Slave Mario to fight back. They run through the Ruined Kingdom and finally reached King Bowser. After his defeat the sun came out and everyone was hiding no more. Mario collected another piece of the Universe Star and went to another universe.
Reverse Universe[]
Landing in the Reverse Universe, Mario watches as Luigi runs past dressed in red. He then sees himself behind dressed in green. Mario asked Green Mario why he is behind and he said that Red Luigi is older and gets to do all the fun stuff. Feeling like a bad brother Mario promised to give Luigi his own adventure when he gets home. Mario and Green Mario charged past Red Luigi and made it to Reverse Bowser's kingdom. They defeated Reverse Bowser and got another shard if the Universe Star.
Mario & Luigi Universe[]
Mario landed in the Mario & Luigi Universe and thinking he is home is disappointed to see that he is not. He sees not only himself but Luigi too. He teams up with both Mario and Luigi. The 3 combined blasted through Bowser and Bowser Jr's forces and was ready to challenge them. Defeating Bowser Jr. gave them a half of the shard and defeating Bowser gave them the other half. Getting another shard of the Universe Star he went on to another universe.
Paint Universe[]
Mario surprised to see everything covered in the wrong colors finds Paint Mario. He soon realizes he's in the Paint Universe. Paint Mario explained that he is trying to change everything back to the right colors. They blast through Paint Bowser's minions while fixing the colors on the way. They defeat Paint Bowser and everything changes back to normal. Mario gets another Universe Star shard and heads off.
Donkey Kong Universe[]
Upon landing Mario instantly knew he was in the Donkey Kong Universe. He teamed up with DK Mario and together they climbed all the ladders to get to Pauline. They reached Donkey Kong but it is soon revealed that it is actually DK Bowser in costume. They defeat DK Bowser and Mario heads off getting another Universe Star shard.
Retro Universe[]
Mario landed in the Retro Universe. He feels nostalgic as this was his first adventure. He seems confused about how much he's changed. As he sees Retro Mario pass he decides to join him as to take a step down memory lane. Together they run through all 8 kingdoms and they reach Retro Bowser. They defeat Retro Bowser and gets another Universe Star shard. Before he leaves Mario thanks Retro Mario for letting him relive his first adventure.
Final Universe[]
Mario is finally home. The first thing he does is attack Bowser. But it only makes the gun go crazy and open up portals to different universes. All the Bowser's meet up and team up. Thankfully all the Mario's team up as well. The 8 Mario's charge to stop the Bowser's. Each Mario goes after their own Bowser. After the rest of the Bowser's are down they all fight the last Bowser. After he's defeated Mario gets the last piece of the Universe Star and all the Mario's and Bowser's go home. Having the full Universe Star, Mario can travel through all universes at will.
