Super Ashley Odyssey is downloadable content for Super Mario Odyssey starring Ashley from the WarioWare series. The DLC is slated to be released after the other three DLC campaigns, Super Mario Odyssey: The Princess' Escape, Super Wario Odyssey, and Super Luigi Odyssey and can be purchased for the Nintendo Switch.
Plot[]
Ashley, testing out some spells with her demon friend Red, makes a few mistakes, breaking objects around her mansion. Unsatisfied, she looks through a nearby spellbook for help, and casts a spell that accidentally conjures a portal. Two mysterious floating hands come from the portal and grab Red, pulling him away from Ashley. After the hands disappear into the portal, Ashley tries to fight back, but the portal begins vacuuming in objects, including the pages of her spellbook. She barely manages to stay on the ground by holding onto objects, but she immediately heads out on a quest to save Red. She casts a spell to create a new portal to find him, but she ends up blasting herself all the way to Textilia in the Cap Kingdom by mistake.
In Textilia, an unconscious Ashley is carried to an infirmary by a Textilian named Beanie. When Ashley wakes up, Beanie explains to her where she is. Ashley attempts to leave Textilia, but none of their boats are functional. Beanie explains that the ships need Moon Power to leave, but all of the Power Moons have been taken by vacuum portals appearing in the sky. Beanie agrees to temporarily give Ashley her boat if she can stop the portals from opening up.
Ashley discovers a machine at the center of Textilia that is causing these portals to appear. She sets the machine in reverse, and Power Moons pop out of the portals. However, her problems still aren't solved; she can't reach any of the Power Moons by herself, so she has to get assistance from Beanie. Beanie, who wants to make her boat look nicer by collecting more Power Moons, agrees to help her and takes the form of a witch hat, granting Ashley her Capture powers. The two, after getting a few Power Moons, set off to Isle Delfino.
Gameplay[]
Differences[]
Ashley's playstyle includes a few major differences compared to the other playable characters. In her basic moveset, she is able to perform a Homing Ground Pound move similar to the one found in the Galaxy series by throwing her hat, then performing a Ground Pound when it returns to her. Her Side Somersault move is quicker to pull off than other characters', and she is able to Long Jump into a Wall Jump that covers more distance. She can also use a brand new move known as the Broom Burst, which gives her a burst in the air or a higher jump when she pulls out her broom by pressing in the left stick.
The main new mechanic, however, is her Magic Spellbook. Ashley learns new spells throughout the game, and each one can be fired at an enemy to transform them. These new transformed forms of enemies can then be captured, and they have new additions to their playstyles. The player can swap between spells by pressing the left or right D-Pad buttons, and a spell can by fired at an enemy by pressing one of the trigger buttons.
