— Story Break Taranza, about to damaging the Guardian Crystal, Kirby: Story Break

Story Break Taranza, is one of the secondary antagonists of Kirby: Story Break. He is known to be Story Break Queen Sectonia's loyal second in command.

History[]

Story Break Taranza used to be friends with Story Break Queen Sectonia, when the latter is still the same species as the former. However, the relationship between S.B. Sectonia and S.B. Taranza was a mixed bag; they do bickers, but they are very fond of each others in the end, with Taranza not willing to let her down. When several dark forces led by Count Ddedede had passed through, even nearly destroying the kingdom, S.B. Taranza becomes increasingly nervous and had to find a way to put an end of this.

Eventually, ten years later, S.B. Taranza had found a mysterious energy called the EX-Energy, which from what he heard, allows any species to become stronger and able to effortlessly fight darkness back. Unfortunately, he saw that his close friend went missing, and falls into a depression that eventually degenerate a sadistic streak, and will do anything to bring his dear friend back.

In the present time, he present himself to Susie (unlike most bosses, he had not faced Kirby in canon) as the Lonely Wizard, and once he noticed that she was helping out Enchanta (albeit reluctantly in Susie's case), he decided to take revenge on Enchanta for not helping out the world enough, and attempted to brainwash the hero (or the anti-heroine) but failed.

It was not until S.B. Taranza had found the Guardian Crystal and noticed a voice he recognized, and had managed to nearly break her free during Helpers to Heroes, but the Helpers had learned the hard way that once the now almighty Story Break Queen Sectonia break loose and saw her little Taranza injured, she attacked the Helpers in a raging rampage, but is eventually calmed down by the Helpers' retaliation and Enchanta's assistance.

After returning to his kingdom, Story Break Taranza had mellowed much thanks to reuniting with Story Break Queen Sectonia, but noticed that her newfound power and become increasingly worried that the Story Break Queen Sectonia, now named as Exa-Sectonia, might become mad at him for the trouble he has initially inflicted.

However, as the True Ending credit indicates, despite being initially furious at S.B. Taranza at first, Exa-Sectonia eventually realized that it was her idea to consume so much EX Energy in the first place, and even thanked and honored him for his rescue. As a result, Story Break Taranza had regained his confidence, but does to their shared grudge against Enchanta and the Dark Forces, they want to aim to conquer the entire Story Break world, as they believe that the world needs a better leader.

Physique[]

Although having similar physical shape and clothing of the real-world Taranza, Story Break Taranza still looks different, in that the cape, scarf and even his hair are colored differently.

His hair is black and is more curly, with the upper "eyes" being colored purple. His horns lead forward and are also purple, with a blue tip on each horn. The other parts that are colored purple the back part of his gloves (which are also cone shaped), parts of his cape and

His scarf, parts of his coat and his stinger are colored teal, and his coat is colored red, with two spades facing in opposing direction. Finally, his gloves are black, which is a contrast to real-world Taranza's white gloves.

Personality[]

Story Break Taranza used to be cheerful and charming, but after his close friend had gone and prior to rescuing Exa-Sectonia, he was still charming, but also stressful, determined and most of all, sadistic. He want to take revenge on the Story Break world for making him losing his close friend, and will stop at nothing to meet Story Queen Sectonia again.

He is shown to be calculating and careful, and do attempt to brainwash people for his bids, but when he saw that someone is too violent for him to control, he makes a hasty retreat. He can also quickly learn from his defeats; once he saw the same opponent that defeated him, he tend to be more cautious when not prepared for.

However, after rescuing Exa-Sectonia, he eventually mellowed down, although his grudge against Enchanta caused him to maintain his sadistic streak. In fact, he is shown to be loyal with Exa-Sectonia, and will be the first to handle the situation if anyone attempts to attack Her Majesty, unless if the latter ordered him that she will handle the situation by herself firsthand.

He is shown to flatter both cute and beautiful beings, be it a male or female. That is to say, he prefers to take a subtle approach and only says uncommon affectionate words such as "pumpkin" and "eggs with eyes", and he only use more romantic speech toward his queen.

That being said, reuniting with Exa-Sectonia actually caused Story Taranza to be more stressful and anxious, especially if the former gets upset or angry, but the relationship is still stable otherwise. This is contrast to the original Taranza, who is all alone and sad, but also free and independent.

When allying with someone else, he try to be rather untrusting if the ally tend to be selfish, reckless, tried to manipulate him or is very dumb in general. He can only be more trusting if the ally in question show constant success and respect to him, his comrades and especially to his leader.

Abilities and Weaknesses[]

Most of his abilities are similar to real-world Taranza, but while he nowhere as good as boosting critters and lacked summoning power, Story Break Taranza is capable of brainwashing even the most powerful being with just his strings, but he needs to stay focused, otherwise the brainwashed victim will have partial control and even attempts to break out the strings.

He can also absorb Kirby's Copy Ability and Susie's Robobot Mech, as well as most abilities from other beings. While he cannot Abilities from more than one person, he can quickly become the most powerful shall he absorbed one from a more powerful being, but this can also backfire as he is not immediately adapted to use them, and oftentimes, he prefers to use them to mostly attack until he figures out what else the Ability can do.

Appearence[]

Boss Battles[]

He appears alongside his leader, Exa-Sectonia, and operate as a separate, weaker boss. He starts to appear at Exa-Sectonia's phase 4, and controls one of the fighters that the player(s) had not selected. He also attacks with energy balls, as well as teleportation alongside the fighter for a quick evasion. If he gets defeated once, Exa-Sectonia will get angry and jumps immediately into phase 5.

During phase 5, he brings up to five different fighters to attack the players to prevent them to attack her majesty. The fighters can be freed and add support to deal damage to Exa-Sectonia's core. However, he will flee once she starts to use a similar power of Kirby's Hypernova attack.

Kirby: Story Break[]

His canon debut. He is faced by Susie in Susie's Strike, anyone in Ultimate Order and in the True Arena, as well as every second cycle, or consistently if Susie's Path is used, in Arcade Mode. During Susie's Strike, he act as a secondary antagonist who, while not ultimately the final boss, is still the major trouble for Susie, Beta Knight and the Zenemesis, by powering up multiple bosses in hope that Story Break Taranza's enemies will be out of his ways.

Once he noticed that Susie had made it in the Epic Ending, he becomes furious and attempted to break the Guardian Crystal, but was quickly pushed away by the final fusion made by Vam Von Teppurse (who is oddly absent in this mode), Drawciusie, a fusion of Drawcia and Susie.

In Ultimate Order, Story Break Susie did warned about Story Break Taranza under the loose, saying that he is still after the Guardian Crystal. Story Break Taranza eventually break it, and allows Story Break Queen Sectonia, now called Exa-Sectonia, from the Guardian Crystal that acted like a prison, and the massive queen had even quickly defeated Vam Von Teppurse like if the latter is only a housefly compared to Exa-Sectonia.

Relationship[]

Exa-Sectonia[]

While the two may bickers, Story Break Taranza is nevertheless very loyal to Her Majesty. In fact, they are often happy to go together at almost anywhere.

Story Taranza is even in love with Exa-Sectonia, but the latter tend to not return the feeling in the public, only doing when both are alone and at appropriate time, or on special occasions.

Quotes[]

He reminds me of one of Kirby's apparent frenemies... I can tell that he is in a similar problem. Nevertheless, this simpleton needs some lesson!

Story Break Taranza is about to take on the Helpers... but he seems to already accomplish... something wicked. Best not to think and defeat him!

Even if he gets reunited with his close one, he is shown to be still vengeful against both Enchanta and the Dark Forces. Along with Exa-Sectonia, he will conquer this world like there will be no tomorrow, but Enchanta will keep her eyes peeled on them!

Trivia[]

  • Unlike Taranza, Story Break Taranza remains an antagonist despite being only a minor obstacle to Susie, and then the Helpers. This is because, unlike what happened in the real-world, the Story Break Queen Sectonia still treats Story Break Taranza fairly and with respect even after becoming Exa-Sectonia.
