Star Light Zone is a location in the Sonic series. It is originally from Sonic the Hedgehog and consequentially from Sonic Drift as well. Its purpose is to mislead; its design is that of a beautiful urban environment, with a purpose to test Sonic's speed. Stardust Speedway of Sonic CD, Speed Highway of Sonic Adventure and Sonic Generations and Starlight Carnival of Sonic Colors are based on this zone. Scratch and Grounder were locked into this zone at the end of Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog.
A number of remixes of Star Light Zone turn up on the soundtrack to Sonic Generations II: FourSpikes and bizarrely so, given that the zone doesn't make an appearance in that game.
Star Light Zone makes another appearance in Sonic Heroes 2 as the base for The Babylon Five. They took one look at the state of the zone and renovated it, in so doing unearthing Scratch and Grounder. More work for them was made by Eggman Nega and Metal Sonic 3.0 of Team Eggman, who trashed the place en route to Scrap Brain to procure a Chaos Emerald.
Owing to the level being both nocturnal and urban, Star Light Zone has garnered comparisons with Gigalopolis, another Sonic Heroes 2 level.
