This page lists the details of Splatoon 3's Hero Mode. It follows Agent 7 as they join the Squidbeak Splatoon to combat the Octarian menace in what is laid out to be the final battle. Agent 7 joins forces with Squidbeak Splatoon leaders Callie and Marie and rookies Agent 5 and Agent 6 as they journey from Octo Gorge to the heart of the Octarian operation - the lost city of Splatlantis.

Octo Gorge

Save 5 Zapfish!

Layout

Octo Gorge resembles traditional Octarian areas. It takes place in a large gorge, with many platforms built by the Octarians in the gorge. The area begins on the surface of the gorge, and the levels are hidden down below.

The entrance doubles as a small training area, with various dummies set up for you to splat. Callie and Marie stand by the entrance, along with several monitors conveniently plugged in. These monitors allow you to view Hero Mode statistics.

A grate will take you to the inside of a Squidbeak Splatoon hideout, where you can play Octarian Infiltration. Octavian Infiltration is only available at certain times.

Arrival in Octo Gorge
Trust me, Marie. This kid's the one. I can feel it.
You better be right, Callie.
~
Oh! Geez, haven't you heard of knocking?
So, you're the squid Callie recruited, huh?
...You okay, Cal?
Yeah. Just... gimme a sec.
Sorry, thought you were an Octavian. Scared me.
So, I bet you've got a ton of questions. Let me answer them for you.
Hey! You got to brief the last agent. Let me do it this time.
Fine.
I'm Callie!
I'm Marie.
And we're the Squid Sisters!
Er, we used to be.
Nowadays, we're running the Squidbeak Splatoon.
We're fighting the Octarians, and we'd like you to help.
Whaddya say? Will you join us? Great!
~
We'll call you... Agent 7!
Real creative, cuz.
We'd love to introduce you to the rest of the Splatoon, but they're out rescuing Zapfish right now.
You'll meet 'em soon, though.
~
So, you 'know that Octoling duo that keeps taking over the news broadcast?
We've tracked Radio-Octave's frequency to this location, but as you can see, there's nothing here.
We're thinking the Octarians have their base somewhere down this gorge.
I'm telling you, it's the lost city of Splatlantis.
It's not Splatlantis.
Look, I know we're asking a lot of you, but we'll be there the whole time to guide you.
You are a rookie, after all.
To get started, head into that Kettle over on the other side.
It's a little bit rusty, so you might need to ink it up first.
First Zapfish
You rescued your first Zapfish! Congrats, Agent 7.
You're gonna be a massive help to the Squidbeak Splatoon.
I never doubted you for a second...
~
I think it's time you met the other rookies. Head on over to one of those Kettles and they'll meet you there.

Missions

Octarians Strike Back
Get That Zapfish!
Hero Shot
This level is pretty basic, showcasing the basics of Hero Mode, as well as the game in general. Each segment of the level is designed to teach you a single mechanic, such as swimming, shooting, or bomb-throwing. The end of the level features an onslaught of Octotroopers as a final challenge.
This Sunken Scroll is located inside of a box in the third area. It's pretty easy to find, as you'll likely be breaking those boxes anyway.
This Sardinian is on top of a wall just past a Launchpad. Once again, it's hidden in plain sight.
Codecs
Alright Agent 7, this is it. Are you ready?
Get out there and grill some Octarians!
And remember...
Stay fresh!
~
That's an Octotrooper! Shoot ink with and splat that good-for-nothing Octo!
~
Remember, you can swim in your ink . That way, enemies won't see you.
~
Alright! Get on that launchpad and head to the next area.
~
Shielded Octotroopers is difficult. You'll need to throw a bomb   to distract it.
Then splat it from behind!
~
There's probably something cool in one of these crates. Break 'em open and see.
~
A Sunken Scroll inside a crate. Octarians are so predictable.
~
Octobomber! Watch out, 7!
Holy mackerel, you handled that like a pro.
~
Ink this wall, then swim up to it in squid form.
~
The Zapfish is right there! Go get it, Agent 7!
Something about this seems fishy to me...
~
Ambush!!!
Called it.
~
Go get that Zapfish. You've earned it.
Enter the Dualie Dome
Double Trouble with Agent 5!
Hero Dualies
This level pairs you up with Agent 5, introducing you to the concept of partners in Hero Mode. The level is inside a large dome, with the Zapfish at the center. You'll need to defeat enemies to make your way to the middle and claim the Zapfish.
Hidden underneath a grated platform, within a small alcove.
On top of a non-inkable post. You'll have to Squid Jump from a nearby platform.
Codecs
Ey! You're Agent 7, right?
Agent 5 here. Looks like we'll be working together for this mission.
What're you waiting for? Catch up!
~
Let's kick some Octarian behind, 7!
~
Yikes. Tentacle Dualies.
Press while shooting to dodge roll!
~
Great work, small fry.
After you dodge roll, you can shoot concentrated fire at an enemy. It's waaaaaaay more powerful.
~
Ugh. More Octogoons. We can take 'em though.
~
Oh, c'mon! How many more Octarians do we gotta splat?
~
Nearly there, small fry. The Zapfish is just up ahead.
~
There it is! Race ya there!
Octospray Shower Tower
Agent 6 Through the Mist!
Hero Brella
This level features a large tower that you and Agent 6 must climb to reach the Zapfish. The tower is filled with Sprinklers and Octosprays, as well as locked doors that you'll need to open with keys. The end of the level features a long stretch on the rooftop with an Octosniper.
Hidden on a grate outside a broken window.
Found by dropping through a hole in the floor.
Codecs
Hey, kid. Agent 7, right?
You can call me Agent 6.
...Don't ask about the goggles.
~
Alright, if my intel's right, then the Zapfish is on top of this tower.
Stick with me and you'll be fine.
~
That's an Octospray. They're not very strong, but they're a nuisance.
~
Hold down to shield yourself with your Brella.
And hold it even longer to let your Brella fly!
~
And up the Launchpad we go!
~
Agent 7? Where'd you go?
Ooh, Sardinium? Nice find.
~
Take out those Sprinklers!
~
Ambush! Commence defensive procedures!
~
Wow, the view from here is amazing. Makes me a bit homesick.
Uh, never mind. Go get that Zapfish, rookie.
The Crate Crusher
Smashing Through the Factory!
Hero Stamp
This level is styled after a factory, with its main obstacle being massive stamps that will crush you. Many conveyor belts fill the level as well, lined with that can be destroyed for Power Eggs.
This Sunken Scroll is hidden in a crate in the third portion of the level. You'll need to catch it before it falls off the conveyor belt.
This Sardinium is located on top of a stamp.
Codecs
That's the Hero Stamp.
Ooh, this is gonna be fun.
~
You can squash enemies with .
Stamps are pretty powerful and spread a lot of ink, but they don't exactly come with rapid-fire.
~
Launchpad ahoy!
Try stamping as you land!
~
Yikes. Watch out for those massive stamps.
Don't get flattened, kid. We're counting on you.
~
Ink those conveyor belts and swim away.
Maybe we shouldn't have given you a Stamp...
~
How'd you get up there?
Let's hope you can get down safely.
~
That's the Zapfish!
You know what to do, 7.
Pinwheel Park
Octocopters on the Horizon!
Hero Charger
This level is designed after a playground, and is full of propeller platforms and Grapplinks, as well as Octocopters appearing at every turn. It's designed to teach you the basics of the Charger, and how to best play to its strengths. You'll have a hard time with close-range weapons.
This Sunken Scroll is on a platform only accessible via Grapplink. The Grapplink is hidden behind a large merry-go-round and requires a keen eye to be able to spot it.
This Sardinium is located on a distant platform, which can only be accessed by activating two-propeller platforms.
Codecs
Yo, rookie! Are you ready for this?
Callie and Marie told us to guide you through this mission. Gotta say I'm pretty excited.
What you've got there is a Charger. It's got some great range and deals some serious damage.
The only problem is that you'll have to charge it up first. Hence the name.
~
Octocopters ahoy!
Shoot 'em down!
~
Good job. You might survive this after all.
Pearlie, ssh!
I-I mean, uh, Agent 5.
~
Is that...
It is.
Grapplink!
Agent 7, think you can hit that Grapplink with your Charger?
~
There are propellers too? They're really pulling out all the stocks.
Guess the octo economy must've gotten a boost.
~
Geez, that's a lot of baddies.
Shoot those Octocopters out of the sky! Oh yeah! Ain't you so fly?
I think you might have to see a doctor, 5 because those beats are too sick!
~
We're on the final stretch.
Looks like you'll have to use Grapplinks in tandem with propellers here.
Just watch your timing. We don't want a repeat of last time.
The Crushing Octodrill
The danger in the Depths!
Hero Shot
The first boss you'll face is the Crushing Octodrill. It will attack you by spreading ink with showerheads, and then drilling into the ground. Once it resurfaces, dodge and shoot its tentacle. As the fight rages on, it will use more attacks, but the pattern remains the same. For more information, see the Bosses section.
The Crushing Octodrill will drop this Sunken Scroll upon defeat.
Codecs
Alright, kid, all your missions up to this point have been the practice.
Once you step on that launchpad, you'll be greeted by one of the Great Octoweapons.
Take a minute to compose yourself and make sure you're ready for this.
Or don't. It's your funeral.
~
Yikes.
Agreed.
Don't listen to them, 7. You got this.
Wait for an opportunity to strike, then let loose.
~
Where'd he go!?
Into the ink... I think.
That's a bit ridiculous.
I'm surrounded by squidiots.
~
Whoa! It just jumped straight outta the ground!
Watch out, squiddo. That drill looks really dangerous.
~
There's a tentacle! That's gotta be a weak point.
Give him the old one, two! ...Three, four, five, six, seven, eight.
~
Tentacular!
~
What's it doing?
Looks like he's gettin' ready for an attack. Stay alert, kid.
Here he comes! Watch out for that drill!
Dodge it, dude!
~
Once more should do the trick.
Don't wreck it too bad, though. You gotta admit it's a pretty cool machine.
~
This is not a drill, I repeat, not a drill.
~
We did it!
7 did it. We just watched it.
I told you guys it was a great idea to send a teenager into the middle of a war.
This calls for a cephelabration!

Bivalve Seabed

Save 7 Zapfish!

Layout

Bivalve Seabed is the closest you'll get to a traditional Octarian hub. Many floating platforms house Kettles, which are accessible through bounce pads and platforming. Aesthetically, the area looks like a rundown housing area, with several decaying buildings. Graffiti designs depicting Octarians cover their walls.

Codecs

Arrival in Bivalve Seabed
Great job, Agent 7! You really showed that boss who's boss.
You're definitely one of our best agents.
Hey! We heard that!
Don't get your tentacles in a twist, 5.
Anyway, this is just the beginning. We've still got a lot of Zapfish to save and Octo behinds to kick.
Dude.
She didn't mean it that way, right Callie?
Mmm...
Alright, who's hijacking our signal?
This is awfully fishy...
Gah! N-No one!
Well, that was weird.

Missions

Octo Truck Rally
Eight Wheel Drive!
Hero Roller
This level introduces Dash Panels and has a design similar to monster truck rallies. Octarians will threaten to squash Agent 7 while driving around in large monster trucks similar to the Splatoon karts in Mario Kart 8. There's even a chase scene filled with Dash Panels!
Found on top of a pile of monster trucks.
Hidden below the third section of the stage.
Codecs
Let's get rolling, Agent!
Swing your Roller and just keep walking. You'll flatten anybody you come across.
~
Is that...?
A monster truck?!
Wow, these Octarians have really stepped up their game.
~
Uh, 7? Try not to get squashed, K?
~
Not gonna lie, this is pretty cool.
I mean, yeah. A bit.
~
Callie, you'll love this.
Agent 7, hop on that Dash Panel.
~
You know Dash Panels were my invention, right?
Really?
Shell yeah! They're just like rollercoasters!
~
Octo Truck is incoming!
Run for it, squiddo! Remember to do a jumping swing to throw a trail of ink in front of you!
~
Dash Panel! Quick!
This is hard to watch.
~
That was... AWESOME!!!
Hella fresh.
Treacherous Tracks
What Dwells in the Depths?
Hero Blaster
A dark subway tunnel, filled with broken tracks and abandoned trains. It's deceivingly long and danger hides in the shadows at every turn. You'll want to make the most out of your Blaster if you want to survive this trial.
Turn into a squid while on a series of grated panels to drop down onto this Sunken Scroll, which gives off a faint glow in the dark.
Climb a series of floating train cars to reach this Sardinium.
Codecs
Cool your jets, 7. Check this place out before you go in guns blazing.
It's... awfully dark.
Looks like your ink will light up the area, though.
Dang! It's like a Splatfest up in here!
The neon ink is a bit peculiar, though. Is something other than Splatfest energy causing it?
~
Gah! Ambush!
Quick, use your Blaster to take them out.
Ooh, you never told me you gave 7 a Blaster!
Your shots explode, so you can fry more than one enemy in the one-shot.
~
Does this place remind you of a certain subway system we know?
The Deca Subway Station? Nah.
I meant the... Y'know what, never mind.
~
Urgh! Can these guys at least give us some sort of signal before popping outta the dark like that?
Their eyes do glow in the dark.
~
Take out that shielded baddie by abusing your blast radius.
Whoa, chill. Touched a nerve?
~
Uh... Doesn't look there's anywhere left to go from here.
There's gotta be something. Look around for switches.
~
Okay, I get what you're talking about now. That weighted platform seriously reminds me of 8's missions.
Right? Could this be an abandoned part of the Deepsea Metro?
I wouldn't rule it out.
~
Soak in that sunlight, agent!
It's just a crack in the ceiling. I don't think there's any time for messing around.
~
Zapfish is there!
Nice. Pop that bubble and...
What's that in the distance?
Is that a city?
Hold on, let me patch Callie and Marie in.
~
Pearl, we can discuss the recording session later. Right now, we-
This is way more important, dude. Look.
Splatlantis?!
Do you know about it?
I was hoping it wasn't real. I've been thinking about it for a while, but I didn't expect it to be true.
That has to be the Octarian's base of operations.
Let's go to the city!
Warp Kettle Interchange
In and Out, Round and About
Hero Bumper
This level is high in the sky, and you can faintly see Splatlantis below. Introducing you to the Bumper, this level features many rotating platforms, straight hallways filled with enemies, and areas reminiscent of 8-Ball missions. If you're not using the Bumper, actual 8-Balls will appear in their place.
Launch a marble into a far-away 8-Ball Goal to open the gate to this Sunken Scroll.
Hidden below the fourth section of the stage.
Codecs
A Bumper weapon. Noice.
Ooh, they shoot those marbles, right?
Ssh. Let Agent 7 figure this out. It's fun.
~
Line up the shot and...
KERSPLAT!
~
Callie, don't look.
Oh no. Don't tell me it's a Flooder.
Worse.
Octavio escaped again?!
Uh, no. Gramps is keeping watch on him.
...I give up.
Spinning platforms, cuz.
UUUGGGGHHHH. I'm gonna vom.
~
Gramps told me about these. That's an 8-Ball Goal, I think.
Do you think?
...Yeah, I'm not entirely sure. Try shooting a marble into it.
~
Sliiick.
You designed these, Callie?
No way. Pretty sure they're from the Deepsea Metro.
~
A Sunken Scroll in a glass case?
Take a good look around.
Or try smashing it.
~
STRIKE!
Touchdown!

The Crushing Octodrill
The Crushing Octodrill is a large drill-like machine with several showerheads protruding from it. As the Octodrill moves around the stage, these showerheads will constantly spread the ink. Its main method of attack is using its drill to submerge underground, spreading ink if it travels underneath an un-inked area. It will target the player and drill out of the ground, dealing damage if the player is hit. As it comes up, you can hit the tentacle at the bottom. In its second phase, the Octodrill will rev up, before launching itself drill-first at the player. This attack can be easily avoided. In its final phase, the Octodrill will spin around the stage at high speeds.

Get That Zapfish!
Blueprints of a subway station are shown, as well as a photograph of construction works in Downtown Inkopolis.
"Deca Tower is soon to be out of business as a brand new Turf War lobby is being constructed in Downtown Inkopolis. The Deca Subway Station will provide quick transportation between stages, as well as provide easy access to the popular rest areas of Downtown Inkopolis."
Enter the Dualie Dome
Double Trouble with Agent 5!
This Sunken Scroll is a scrapbook of pictures of Pearl and Marina of Off the Hook fame. They appear to be avoiding the cameras, though one photo shows them practicing music on their own.
"Off the Hook's Pearl and Marina's popularity has been slowly fading, as new styles of music take Inkopolis by storm. The Inkling-Octoling duo has announced that they're reshaping their image, but no other information has been released yet."
Octospray Shower Tower
Agent 6 Through the Mist!
This Sunken Scroll shows a magazine page about Off the Hook's new music shop, as well as featuring photos of the interior, a logo, and a selfie of the duo.
"Off the Hook have opened a brand new music studio in Downtown Inkopolis! It's open to the public as a means of buying their favorite albums and doubles as a recording studio for the duo. They've even had a few guests come in and record, such as rising stars Meena and Remora."
The Crate Crusher
Smashing Through the Factory!
This Sunken Scroll features a newspaper extract comparing two currencies, and what appears to be a graph analyzing aspects of the stock market.
"The change from G to Sand Dollar currency is still a major shock to squids and kids across the globe. Readers are advised to exchange their G for Sand Dollars as soon as possible."
Pinwheel Park
Octocopters on the Horizon!
This Sunken Scroll shows an Octoling resembling Taki standing in front of the Dreaded Octonozzle as it's being built.
"The Great Octoweapons are coming along nicely! Octonozzle's my fav so far. I've got a few more ideas, but my team aren't too keen. I'm convinced the Octodrill could be our best one yet, though. Anyway, gotta go. ~Taki"
The Crushing Octodrill
Danger in the Depths!
This Sunken Scroll shows various studies on jellyfish. One picture shows a jellyfish with typical diamond eyes and another with w-shaped pupils.
"Jellyfish have recently begun exhibiting strange behaviors randomly. It's exceptionally odd when you remember that jellyfish share a hivemind, yet only a handful show these weird mannerisms. There have been reports of the jellyfishes' pupils changing shape during these phenomena, but these rumors remain unconfirmed."
Octo Truck Rally
Eight Wheel Drive!
This Sunken Scroll shows blueprints for Dash Panels. While much of the diagram is done in a professional manner, the paper is decorated with stickers and doodles, and there are annotations scrawled in purple ink describing the functions of different components.
"So, like, you know that rush you get when you're zooming 'round with a Roller? I've got a super sweet idea that'll recreate that feeling. I call 'em Dash Panels. Taki helped me with the geeky stuff, but I designed them. Octo Canyon's gonna look so fresh! -C."
Treacherous Tracks
What Dwells in the Depths?
This Sunken Scroll features a picture of an enormous human statue exploding, following the Octo Expansion. In the distance, a teal-colored explosion is seen, out of which many Octarian spirits are flying. However, a magnified section reveals a chain of subway cars escaping from the destruction, sporting pink and cyan colors.
"Kamabo Co. was operating an underground test facility right under our noses! Who would've guessed? Thanks to the heroic attempts of an anonymous crew, the Deepsea Metro is no more, and passengers are being rescued as I write. However, a mysterious train seems to have escaped the facility, as shown above. Where could this train beheaded, and who could be on it?"
