Splatoon: Ink Wars is a game for the PlayStation 4 that will release in April 16, 2016. The game was released for the PS4 because Nintendo wanted to get rid of the series after 3 installments (2 for Wii U and one for New Nintendo 3DS).

3 years after the Octarians were defeated, a new species called the Clownfishtarians take over Inkopolis. One Inkling was chosen to fight the Clownfishtarians.

- This is the first Splatoon game on a Sony console.
- This is the first Splatoon game with voice chat (However, there are moderators so if a player is caught swearing it will be banned.)
- The reason why this game is on the PS4 is because Nintendo sold the rights of Splatoon to Sony in December 29, 2015.
- Due to being a PS4 game, no references to any Nintendo game appeared.
