Sonic the Hedgehog (ソニック・ザ・ヘッジホッグ Sonikku za Hejjihoggu?) is a 2021 3D platformer video game for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X, PlayStation 5, Nintendo HDS, PC, and Mac. It was released on November 16, 2021 to celebrate Sonic's 30th anniversary. It is a reboot of the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. A sequel was released On November 14, 2023.
Development[]
After the release of Sonic Forces, SEGA decided that they wanted to make their next anniversary big and appeal to fans. They decided to make a reboot of the original game with adventure-styled gameplay.
Gameplay[]
A player controls Sonic or Tails through seven stages, each with 3 individual acts. In the first act, you play as Sonic, in the second, you play as Tails, and in the third, you play as both of them. It uses an adventure formula, much like the Sonic Adventure (1998), Sonic Adventure 2 (2001), Sonic Heroes (2003), and Sonic the Hedgehog (2006).
Story[]
After being created in a lab by evil genius Dr. Ivo "Eggman" Robotnik, Sonic the runs away from his creator, to the mysterious island of Green Falls, where he meets his new friend, Miles "Tails" Prower. Now, Sonic and Tails must race against time to save the population of their planet of Mobius from being turned into robots by Eggman.
