Sonic the 3D Hedgehog 3

Promotional Cover with the working title

Sonic the 3D Hedgehog: Guardians of Future Yet to Come is a sequel to Sonic the 3D Hedgehog: One World for All and the third installment in the Sonic the 3D Hedgehog series. The game was developed by Fusion Thunder Games, just like it's predecessors. The game was released on August 25th, 2014 for Sonic's 23rd anniversary, only for the Wii U and the Nintendo 3DS. With this game's release, the Sonic the 3D Hedgehog series became a trilogy.

Story[]

A year has passed since Sonic and his friends defeated Rouge the Bat. Tails, Amy and Knuckles have gone their own ways, Dr. Eggman has been missing for a long time, Ogarate hasn't shown up on Mobius since the end of the battle on Murtopia, Rouge is reformed and Tiara and Sonic have been seeing each other more often. In this time, Sonic and Tiara have met Mighty, a former Chaotix member, and come across a shady, but friendly character who they have befriended easily. On a peaceful day that could've gone uninterrupted, a strange sound is heard by the gang and they go investigate.

Gameplay[]

Just like the previous two games, this is a 3D Platform Game with emphasis on speed and rapid progression, and like One World for All, it has cooperative multiplayer that allows up to four players to control the four playable characters. In certain sections, the action will switch to combat, where everybody fights off a horde of enemies to progress, utilizing their own signature moves and combos. Another type of area is one filled with puzzles, prompting the player(s) to use their head(s) inorder to press forward.

Characters[]

NOTE: Long time main supporting characters Miles "Tails" Prower, Amy Rose and Knuckles the Echidna have been intentionally left out of this installment, making this the first Sonic the 3D Hedgehog game without them.

Trivia[]

  • This game's plot bears a similarity to the plot of the official Wii U Sonic game, Sonic Lost World.
  • Tiara has been in each Sonic the 3D Hedgehog game by far, but this is the second one where she is playable. In the previous game, she was a villain, and later a non-playable support character.
  • Whatever happened between Sonic the 3D Hedgehog: One World for All and this game which caused Sonic to part ways with Tails and Amy is explained in a mini-movie titled Sonic the 3D Hedgehog: Under the World that serves as the bridge between the two games.
  • Rouge is wearing her Sonic Riders gear in this game, probably because she wanted to change her image a bit after being reformed.
