Final Smash Super Sonic/Sonic & Friends

Sonic makes his third appearance as a playable character to the Super Smash Bros. franchise in Super 5mash Bros. 5. Sonic was the second 3rd-Party character confirmed for Super Smash Bros. Brawl as well as Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS. It makes sense for him to be the second 3rd-Party character confirmed for Super 5mash Bros. 5. Much like his previous incarnations, his speed is his ally and he demonstrates some of the best ground speed of any character and relies heavily on directional momentum. Aesthetically, his model is based off on his appearance in Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric which gives him slightly better kicking range.

Changes from SSB4[]

  • All kick of attacks have slightly better range.

Moveset[]

Special Custom Set A[]

Name Damage Description
Neutral Special Homing Attack 8% (clean), 3% (stale) When used, Sonic curls up into a ball, hovers momentarily while slowly moving upwards, then shoots towards the opponent closest to him
Custom 1 Stomp --- Jump into the air before slamming straight down with a meteor smash.
Custom 2 Surprise Attack --- A faster Homing Attack with less range and power than normal. When not locked on to a target, it rises upwards slightly.
Side Special Spin Dash --- Sonic can charge the attack and then let lose to go shooting forward. Sonic will hop and then spin dash forward.
Custom 1 Hammer Spin Dash --- Starts with a huge hop that buries any foes it hits. Slightly weaker than Spin Dash.
Custom 2 Burning Spin Dash --- Deals more damage and has a fire effect, but doesn't hop at the beginning.
Up Special Spring Jump 4% (spring) Sonic summons a spring which launches him vertically into the air. The Spring will fall down and deal damage to those under it.
Custom 1 Double Spring --- Can create two springs, doubling the effectiveness, but with a sacrifice of height. The springs also disappear if they were on the ground.
Custom 2 Springing Headbutt --- The initial jump can deal damage, but the spring disappears if it's on the ground. The jump is also slightly lower.
Down Special Spin Charge --- Sonic can charge this attack by rapidly pressing the special button. Unlike the Spin Dash, Sonic can change directions and there isn't a hop at the start.
Custom 1 Auto Spin Charge --- It can be powered up by holding the button instead of repeatedly pressing it. However, it is harder to control.
Custom 2 Gravitational Charge --- will pull in opponents in front of it while pushing away opponents behind it. It will take more button presses to power up, however.

Special Custom Set B[]

Name Damage Description
Neutral Special Blue Tornado 3.5% (per hit) Sonic becomes a whirling tornado of blue energy as he spins rapidly. It has a slow start up but has noticeable super armor. It will juggle opponents. It can move slightly to the right and left but not by much.
Custom 1 Roaming Blue Tornado 3% Slightly weaker but Sonic has much more control over the movement of the tornado; allowing him to move along the horizontal plane.
Custom 2 Windy Blue Tornado 6% Stronger with more lag; the outer parts will blow away nearby opponents but approaching it from the top will suck in opponents and knock them out to the side.
Side Special Insta-shield --- Sonic will dash forward and will put up a shield that will negate various attacks and projectiles. The strength of the shield is dependent on how fast Sonic was going at the time of imputing the attack command.
Custom 1 Pushy Insta-shield 4& (full speed) Instead of causing Sonic to pass by without ffecting the opponent, this custom pushes opponents backwards as Sonic dashes. As a result. it has a shorter dash length.
Custom 2 Reflecting Instal-shield 3.2.5x (full speed) The attack can reflect projectiles. It has decent dash duration but it weak against melee attacks.
Up Special Sonic Boost 13% (clean), 9% (late) Sonic envelopes himself in blue energy and dashes at a slight upward diagonal angle. The energy damages opponents and knocks them upwards.
Custom 1 Impacting Sonic Boost 8% (clean), 5% (late), 7% (take off) It does more damage when Sonic initially takes off with high amounts of damage rather than the later animations.
Custom 2 Flying Sonic Boost 0% Instead of Sonic damaging opponents, he can slightly control his trajectory by moving the control stick right or left, up for more faster ascent, or down to slow down. It also has increased traveling distance.
Down Special Drift 5% (hit), 8% (drift clean), 4% (drift late) Sonic spins forward at a decent speed. Pressing the special button will cause to suddenly stop and will come to a skidding stop. This is able to do damage but does hit stun and counts as a late hit. Pressing special again will cause Sonic to shoot backwards in a ball and counts as a clean hit knocking opponents upwards. After a duration of time, Sonic will end the dash without a drift animation if the special button isn't pressed. The player is unable to change directions at any time besides after the first Drift.
Custom 1 One-Way Drift 5% (hit), 13% (drift clean), 10% (drift late) Sonic will rush forward and pressing the special button will cause Sonic to skid to a halt. However, it does more knockback and damage but he can't change directions.
Custom 2 Automated Drift 7% (hit), 7% (drift) Sonic dashes at a set distance before entering a Drift and then will shoot backwards.

Final Smash[]

Name Damage Description
Final Smash 1 Super Sonic Varies Using the power of the seven Chaos Emeralds, transforms into a very powerful version of himself that is able to fly quickly and KO fighters by ramming into them. His speed and power is maximized and he is unable to be KO'd albeit he is rather hard to control.
Final Smash 2 Sonic & Friends Varies Sonic punches forward with super sonic speed. It has a slight vacuum effect to it. When the punch connects, it transports the opponent to another space. Sonic spins dash into an opponent; launching them to the ground. Amy jumps up and slams her Piko Piko Hammer into the opponent launching them higher. Knuckles comes up from below and performs a powerful uppercut which knocks the opponent even higher. Tails then appears in one of his mecha and fires a barrage of missiles that explodes; sending them high into the air.
