Shuckle seems to resemble some kind of turtle. It has a yellow body inside a red, jar-like shell with eight holes. Each hole has a cream-colored, thick rim. Shuckle's shell also seems to have a few small spots scattered around its shell, one being placed at the edge of the rim of the hole where its head comes out.
Its feet seem to have a gastropod-like shape, looking a bit limp. It is presumed that its body is very soft, which is a possible reason why it is encased in a shell.
This Pokémon doesn't hunt or forage for feeding itself. Instead, it collects all kind of Berries and stores them in its shell, which then ferments into drinkable matter by the Shuckle's digestive juices, which Shuckle could consume. It uses its digestive juices to dissolve rocks as well. Shuckle can live in rocky areas and forests. They tend to hide under rocks and fallen logs for long periods of time.
Shuckle had the highest defensive stats of all existing Pokémon until Generation 8, when Eternatus debuted. (In its Eternamax Form, Eternatus's defenses are both base 250, and it has a base HP of 255.) The rest of its stats, however, are incredibly low, with its Speed being the lowest. Its stat distribution is the most extreme, with a standard deviation of 103.21. Other notable extremes:
It has the third lowest base HP (beaten out only by Diglett and Shedinja), and the lowest HP of all Rock types.
It has the third lowest Attack, beaten out only by Happiny and Chansey. Its Attack is the lowest of all Bug and Rock types.
Since Eternamax Form Eternatus can't currently be legally obtained, Shuckle still has the highest Defense and Special Defense of all usable Pokémon. (Regular Eternatus's defenses are 140 HP/95 physical/95 special.)
It's tied with Feebas, Bonsly, and the Alolan form of Sandshrew for lowest Special Attack.
It's tied with Munchlax and Pyukumuku for lowest Speed of all Pokémon.
In Generation 2 only, Shuckle had the unusual ability to convert Berries into Berry Juice. After you reached Goldenrod City, any time you battled with a Shuckle in your Party and it was holding the actual Berry item, it had a 1-in-16 chance to turn that Berry into Berry Juice. This only happened with the first Shuckle in your Party, if you had multiple. To compensate for this feature's retirement, starting with HeartGold and SoulSilver, a wild Shuckle will always hold Berry Juice.
All canon Pokémon are available in Tropes vs. Women in Pokémon Training, including Shuckle. In that game, Shuckle has a regional variant that is Bug/Ground and instead has the highest ATTACK stats of all Pokémon. It's ridiculously soft, however, with both of its defense stats making Blissey's Defense look good by comparison. Its HP and Speed were boosted, albeit probably not by enough to make it competitively viable. Its ability to convert Berries into Berry Juice was brought back, now activating if it participates in two battles without consuming the Berry. Berry Juice was buffed in this game to restore 50 HP, plus have an extra effect depending on the Berry used to make it (i.e. Berry Juice from a Salac Berry would boost Speed, Berry Juice from a Yache Berry offers Ice resistance, etc.).
A living beer factory. Any Berry it finds gets fermented in its shell; it then drinks the result should you not harvest it for yourself. How it never gets drunk from this is unclear.
The environment of Sanclairia boosted Shuckle's offensive capabilities greatly, but made its shell soft. This Pokémon's Berry Juice is considered a delicacy in other regions.

Notes
{{{note}}}
Origin[]
Shuckle is based on an endolith, a type of organism that lives inside porous rocks or animal shells. It also contains elements of fungi (why it's known as the "Mold Pokémon"; "Fungi" is the animal kingdom that mold is in), a common endolith, as well as turtles.
Name origin[]
The English name is derived from "turtle" and "shuck", the action of removing a turtle or other shelled organism from its shell.
The Japanese name is derived from 壷 tsubo (jar), what its shell could be thought of as, and 富士壺 fujitsubo (barnacle).
