The shapeshifters in the Solid Heart franchise are magical beings who are mostly human at a first glance, but have a power to turn into various creatures and attack normal humans at their best. They live in both the Solid and normal worlds, but they tend to live in forests away from civilizations and townships, where they hunt and breed, though some of them pretend to be normal people and sometimes live like them (like Teresa, Rini, Rei, etc.) Some people are also tested to become shifters (like Futaba) and sometimes temporarily become a creature until losing the form (like Lancia, Aaren, etc.)
The most common creatures that shifters can turn into are dragons, wolves, and mascots.

Fusions
If a born dragon shifter bites on a human Magi while battling, they combine into a monster known as a fusion. The fusion has the Magi's theme colors, powers, and a shadow of the dragon's abilites. The fusion is very fateful for the Magi, and when the two stay fused for too long, the said Magi turns to dust as they unfuse. There are three known fusions as of now.

Born shifters
- If the shifter has been mind controlled and gets purified, they can't use their form again.
- However, if they fuse with a regular Magi while in their mind control, they can use their form one last time. This is the situation with Rini after fusing and almost killing Olivia in her mind control.
- If a shifter produces with a regular human, that human will become a shifter themself, unless they make their child a pure creature.
- If the said human doesn't want their child to be a shifter, they have to turn themself into a pure creature. If they do this serveral times, they end up becoming more and more animal until finally dying if they do this the 5th turn.
Tested shifters
- Sometimes the human fails to become a shifter if diagnosed. However, this causes the said human to have their body parts spin around at random times to areas where they can't. An example is Ira Itawa.
Trivia
- So far, the only tested person that failed to become a shifter is Ira. His sister Futaba becomes one though, but her form is removed later on.
- The shifters' appearances vary, but they have certain parts of their bodies that are reminiscent of their animal form. When disguising themselves as normal citizens, they try to hide their animal instincts as much as possible (like using hats to disguise ears, color contacts to disguise eyes, etc.) However, if a shifter is also a Magi in human form, these instincts can go into their Magi forms (like Flora's fairy wings as Erdbeerot, for example.)
- The mascot shifters have the second smallest instincts of all shapeshifters, and sometimes none at all if they are temporarily transformed.
- When the animal form is removed, the instincts on appearances are removed as well.
- Animal ears and tails from born shifters dissapear if they are wolves, bears, foxes, or beasts.
- If the shifter is a dragon, the eyes become a much less neon color and the pupils turn from an oval to a circle. If the shifter is also a half human, the eyes become the human parent's color.
