Rotten Mushroom, Superball Flower, Fire Flower

The Rotten Flower is a power-down in the Mario series.

Description[]

The Rotten Flower resembles a Fire Flower, but its purple and has a skull chiseled on it's "head". It also has yellow eyes and a menacing brown stem, not to mention the leaves are a bit wilted.

Mechanics[]

Rotten Flowers will chase Mario around, jump over walls like a Rotten Mushroom would, and damage him on contact. However, Rotten Flowers also can jump over bottomless pits, lava, and poison. When given wings, they will fly in a straight line, but they can change the direction they fly to the direction Mario is headed. Rotten Flowers are also faster than Rotten Mushrooms. The only way to get rid of them is by coming in contact with a Rotten Flower as Invincible Mario. However, because they are aware of their demise and will turn around and run away from Invincible Mario, making them difficult to remove compared to Rotten Mushrooms.

Appearances[]

Super Mario Maker Chi[]

Rotten Flowers appear as an alternate version of the Rotten Mushroom in this game. They act more or less how they were originally outlined- being more persistent at stalking Mario as they can jump over gaps and obstacles to touch Mario, but they also actively run away from Mario when he has a Star, which is their sole weak point.

Trivia[]

  • Rotten Flowers won't give 1-ups when you defeat multiple of them in a row, similar to a Rotten Mushroom.
  • They can trigger Hidden ? Blocks when they jump, which is something Rotten Mushrooms are not able to do.
