CANON APPEARANCES

Red Bowser is a character that debuted in Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Worlds as a boss, appearing only in the last level and in some of the bonus levels in the Letter Worlds.

General Information[]

He resembles Bowser but with red and orange yellow skin. He also has red hair and a red shell.

Powers and Abilities[]

Red Bowser only has the power to breathe fire, unlike Blue Bowser and Bowser who can toss hammers. He can also jump high into the air.

Relationships[]

Red Bowser, like Blue Bowser before him, is supposed to be a separate being from the original Bowser, as neither turn into enemies like Fake Bowsers. World D-4 in Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Worlds have a fake version of both, which means that they are separate beings. What their relationship is to the real Bowser is unknown, as no further material featuring them has cleared up what they are.

Appearances[]

Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Worlds[]

Red Bowser debuts as a boss in the game, acting as a fire-only Bowser that is faced before Blue Bowser and the real Bowser. He only appears in the game's last world and the Letter Worlds.

Super Mario Maker Phi[]

In a update of the game, Red Bowser was added as a possible Boss character that players could put in their levels. They needed to use the Paint Brush power tool to paint Bowser into Red Bowser. Red Bowser acts very much identically to how he acted in Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Worlds and can even be given the Weird Mushroom just like Bowser could.

Super Mario and the Underworld Trials[]

Red Bowser makes an appearance as an optional boss in this game, being found in the game's third course Blue Koopa Kingdom. To find him, the player must find a secret corridor in Blue Bowser's castle, where he is found and battled. He attacks by spitting fireballs and jumping upward and trying to crush the player. To defeat him, the player must grab Koopa Troopa shells and throw then at Red Bowser. This will push him backward and eventually he will fall off the platform into the lava. This must be repeated three times in order to defeat him and get the Mystic Stone. After being knocked into the lava two times, Red Bowser becomes enraged, attacking faster and his jumping attacks add a shockwave.

Super Mario Maker Chi[]

Red Bowser appears as a boss enemy in Super Mario Maker Chi, being a variant on Fake Bowsers who he shares their own placement limit of five per subarea. They can "carry" an enemy if the player drags a enemy over to them to replace their death sprite, although they can also die normally with their own death sprite. They stand in one spot and continue to shoot only flames from their mouth. They can be killed in 5 fire balls as opposed to Bowser's 20 fireball resistance.

Trivia[]

  • Red Bowser is unique from Blue Bowser and Bowser in that he can only spit out fire attacks, unlike the other two who can utilize hammer attacks. This is possibly because Bowser is never faced in the seven other worlds in the game, meaning that the evolution of the fight against Bowser, who previously appeared in all the worlds in the past two games as a boss, is condensed into a single three act run in the level.
