Project Plumber Bros. is an upcoming action-adventure platformer video game developed by Intelligent Systems and Nintendo EPD and published by Nintendo and set to be released in July 2020 for the Nintendo Switch and on the V2 the following month with the V2 version being co-developed by Toroko, in commeration to Mario's 35th Anniversary. The game revolves around Mario and Luigi's adventures in the Mushroom Kingdom. Of course, they have to rescue Princess Peach from Bowser again, but this time, Bowser isn't kidding anymore. The brothers have to go through nine worlds of challenge. This game features new additions including an all-new boss named Zario.
Plot[]
After the events of Super Mario Bros. 2, Mario and Luigi had back to the Mushroom Kingdom. It was a sunny day. But Mario and Luigi were both bored and there was nothing for them to do. At this point, Project Plumber Bros. depicts them deciding to go on a quest just for fun. However, when they got back, the Mushroom Kingdom was at total chaos. The Toads were turned into mere statues, blocks and even mushroom scenery and Princess Peach, the only one who knows how to break this curse, is nowhere to be found. Bowser was at it again! Mario & Luigi knew that they must save the princess and their Mushroom World before it's too late, so they got on the case.
After completing the first world, Mario & Luigi find Zario, a robotic version of Mario. The robot ensnares Mario in a forcefield while Morton Koopa Jr steals Mario's Crystal Stars. Mario escapes, defeats Zario and Morton and set out with Luigi to recover the Crystal Stars.
The duo travel through more worlds and defeat Bowser's minions and recover a Crystal Star in each one. In Polar Point, the game's ice world, Mario discovers a feather falling out of the sky. The brothers board one of Bowser's airships and complete another world in Bowser's Volcano, whereupon they find another feather. They trace the feathers to Bowser's bird-like robot. They infiltrate Bowser's Moon Base and find Bowser's robot, who traps the brothers in another forcefield. Mario escapes again and retreives the Crystal Stars as they combine into a Super Crystal Mushroom. Mario grabs it and transforms into Super Crystal Mario! He fights the robot as the game's final boss. After Bowser's defeat, they rescue Princess Peach and glide down to the Mushroom Kingdom once more, the segue into the events of Super Mario Bros. 3.
Gameplay[]
Project Plumber Bros. is a side-scrolling platformer. Players control either the heroic plumber Mario or his younger brother Luigi. Both characters can move with the D-Pad or Left Stick, jump with the A or B button, and dash with the Y or X button. Luigi can jump higher than Mario to reach unreachable areas. The special power-ups (power flower, metal suit, fire flower, water mushroom, ice flower, thunder flower, rock mushroom and wind leaf) can be activated with the Y or X buttons. The Beam power-up for Mario and the Mirror power-up for Luigi are both borrowed from and credited to Nintendo's Kirby series.
The game takes place in nine levels called worlds each divided into eight stages with a boss battle at the end of each level. Levels vary from beaches to cities. Various power-ups can be found throughout the game. The levels, however, are scattered with Bowser's minions. They can be defeated by being stomped on or attacked with a projectile from the player.

There are two battles, both in the same level. In the first battle, he will stand on a bridge, spitting countless harsh fireballs. To defeat him, wait for Bowser to jump, run across the bridge and hit the button and both you and Bowser falls on a new bridge. Do this 3 times to end this battle. But despite this, it's not over yet! Mario then retreives the Crystal Stars, which combine into a Super Crystal Mushroom (which was used in Super Mario and the 8 Elemental Crystals) and turn the player into Super Crystal Mario. Bowser will then arrive in the battlefield in his bird-like robot, ready for the final battle. Bowser will use his robot to ram you and throw Mecha-Koopas and Big Steelies. To defeat him, ram into a Mecha-Koopa to drive it into Bowser's robot. Do this six times to defeat him. | |

Levels[]
The game takes place in nine worlds each divided into 8 levels with a boss battle at the end of each world. There will be a total of 72 levels.
# | World Name | Theme | Description | Tower Boss | Castle Boss | Crystal Star Color | Exit to... | Map Gimmick(s) |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
1 | Blue Lake Meadow | Meadow | This world lies in the Mushroom Kingdom. It is home to Bowser's most common minions. It is considered a "warm-upworld". | Zario | Morton Koopa Jr. | N/A | Light City | None |
2 | Light City | Urban | The Mushroom Kingdom's popular city. Subways, shops, cafes! So much to see and do! | Goomboss | Roy Koopa | Emerald | Merigune Garden | There are highways with constantly driving cars. When Mario hits one, he gets sent to a random enemy course. |
3 | Merigune Garden | Ruins | This world is where most of Petey Piranha's brethren live. This place is a jungle with a rain forest atmosphere. | Petey Piranha | Larry Koopa | Ruby | Aquatic Labyrinth | Thorny vines could block some ways. Some vines with large thorns on side could act as a ladder and eventually will lead to other places. |
4 | Aquatic Labyrinth | Water, Ruins | Deep in the water are spiky Urchins that hope Mario will bump into them. There are more underwater areas than you'd expect. | Gooper Blooper | Lemmy Koopa | Gold | Desert Dunes | Whomps will block path, but after clearing levels, it blocks other paths. Wall Boos block too, but only go away when clearing an Enemy Course. |
5 | Desert Dunes | Desert | A desert that is hailed by massive Pokeys, sharped-spiked Spinies, and sandy pitfalls. Watch out for those Spike Tops! | Eyerok | Ludwig von Koopa | Sapphire | Mineral Cave | Sometimes, a box with heavy rocks can be spotted at few peaks at roads. It contains a logo of a Bullet Bill, Nagi or Morton Jr. The rocks will fall on you when passing the route the box is at. The ones with Bullet Bill will send you back to start, the ones with Nagi powers you down, and the ones with Morton Jr. does both. |
6 | Mineral Cave | Cavern | This world is an enemy to any hiker. Explore dark caves, shimmy through narrow ledges, dig your way underground, and climb to the mountain's peak! | King Boo | Wendy O'Koopa | Amethyst | Polar Point | Paths could be too dark without a light. Mario might walk in a gap with a geyser, sending him to any place Mario could go. Mario could also fall in the water, if he doesn't land at a stream-following rock, sending him back to start. |
7 | Polar Point | Ice | With an Ice Flower, slide and throw snowballs though a series of icy and snowy levels! Just beware of those iceball-throwing Ice Bros.! | Chief Chilly | Iggy Koopa | Garnet | Machine Volcano | Trees are places with hopes of snow, that could fall anytime Mario is moving. It not only blocks paths, but also brings Mario Back to start when Mario's hit underneath. |
8 | Machine Volcano | Fire | You're on Bowser's turf now! Prepare for scorching fireballs, collapsing boulders, falling platforms, and waves of lava. | Bowser Jr. | Crystal | Bowser's Moon Base | A mixture of the gimmicks of World 6 and 7: Eruptions might send Mario back to start. They also might Power-Down Mario. And Mario must step on moving rocks (following a lava stream) at time, or else he falls in the hot lava, with one touch sending him to a random place Mario has explored earlier (those places could be in EVERY world Mario has entered) and a Power-Down. | |
9 | Bowser's Moon Base | Space | The final place of this adventure, a distorted place with many dark foes. It is the worst place in all of existence, even worse than the Minus World (though the levels aren't endless) and will give unlucky players nightmares for the rest of their lives (guaranteed up to 30 years or less hopefully). Bowser awaits here for the true final battle. | All Koopalings | Bowser/Elemental Bowser/Elemental Bowser MKII/Final Form Bowser | All Crystal Stars | N/A | Every once Mario cleared a level, a Black Hole moves on the screen. When get sucked up, random events can call: being Power downed, spit back to a random discovered place, spit to an Enemy Course or working as a shortcut (very rare). |
