Gameplay[]
The game functions similar to most other Warriors style games, with gameplay involving large maps and hundreds of enemies to defeat using various flashy moves. The game works similarly to the Kamen Rider Battride War series, working on a three-button attack system. The Y/Square/X button acts as a basic combo, X/Triangle/Y and A/Circle/B each activate different "strong" moves. Combining both special attack buttons at the same time will activate a special attack. The B/X/A button acts as a jump button, and any attack button will activate an air attack. Pressing the Jump and Combo buttons at the same time will activate a powerful breaker attack, capable of breaking boss shields. The Left Trigger button will activate a guard. Each character has a unique moveset, corresponding to these different buttons and combinations.
Like with other Warriors games, characters can build up a special meter. The meter can be used in various ways, and a small amount is required to activate the breaker attack. When the meter is full, pressing the Right Trigger will activate a special Zord Mode, where the character combines their power with their respective Zord. This increases the character's overall power, and turns them invincible for a short while as well. Pressing the trigger again, or waiting for the meter to run out, will result in a Zord Attack, powerful attacks capable of wiping out massive amounts of enemies.
The biggest difference compared to other Warriors games is that the player is accompanied at all times by two other Assist characters. These characters act autonomously, though will always remain close to the player character. Specific orders can be given to these Assists, such as using breakers or special attacks, or going after bosses and tougher enemies, which allows the player to control them. Half the meter can be used to activate a special Ranger Attack, another powerful attack capable of destroying many enemies, but far less effective than Zord Attacks. There are a variety of Assist characters, and two must be selected before every mission.
Other features include Power Coins, special equipables that can change character's stats and even activate special effects. These can be unlocked throughout the game by finding them in story missions and completing certain challenges. Characters can also be leveled up by play, which increases their stats, unlock new powers, and new Power Coin slots.
In addition to grounded fights, there also exist Megazord fights, where players play as giant Megazords or monsters. Not much is known about it at this time, but the gameplay has been confirmed.
Characters[]
The game will have over 50 playable characters. Not all are known at this time, but there will be a host of heroes and villains from almost every season of the show.
Stages[]
Like with most Warriors style games, Legacy Warriors has a number of maps, all of which are large and based around different areas. Each map is based on a season of the Power Rangers TV series, specifically the seasons focused on in the game itself, like Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers, Power Rangers SPD, and Power Rangers Dino Charge. In total, there are over 15 different maps.
Image | Name | Description |
---|---|---|
Training Pit | Based on the training pit from the 2017 movie. This is one of the most basic maps, consisting of five large, round arenas connected by hallways. The map has no real gimmicks in it. The Training Pit is mostly used for the game's opening tutorial missions. | |
Angel Grove | Based specifically on the Angel Grove from the 2017 movie. This map is far more open than the Training Pit, but is still rather simple, being a large square with streets and ruined buildings acting as arenas. In reference to the movie, a Krispy Kreme building can be found. | |
Youth Center | Based on the Youth Center from the original Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers series. Ernie's Juice Bar acts as the center of the map, but areas never before seen, like a pool room and a garden, can be found as well. each done in 90s style. The map has a number of dead ends, and is less straightforward than the previous two maps. | |
Zedd's Palace | Based on Lord Zedd's evil palace from seasons 2 and 3 of Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers. The area is more straightforward, acting as a large square with segmented rooms. Zedd's throne room is in the dead center of the area, and is the largest room by far. However, in addition to this, there is a second layer underneath the first floor. This is a series of caverns that eventually lead to the room where the Zeo Crystal is held. | |
Zord Graveyard | Based on the moment when Rito Revolto destroys the Megazords in season 3 of Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers. This map is unlike most others, having an asymmetrical design. The barriers of the area are made up of the destroyed Thunder Zords, White Tigerzord, and Tor the Shuttlezord. While not the largest map, it is one of the most difficult to navigate. | |
Machine Empire HQ | Based on the Machine Empire's mothership from Zeo. It is a large, circular area split into smaller circular arenas, five in total, with the fifth one in the middle being larger than the rest. It is also lifted up, requiring taking stairs to get to, and resembles the meeting place of the Royal House of Gadgetry. The sections outside of these arenas are large hallways that cover the rest of the ground. | |
Command Center | Based on the final episode of Turbo, "Chase into Space". It takes place in and around the ruined Command Center. There is a large pathway up the cliffs the base is located on, leading from an open, rocky area to the base itself. The platform the base is on is large and jagged, while the insides of the Command Center are cluttered with ruined tech. There are multiple broken walls leading in and out of the base. | |
Invaded City | Based on the episode "Countdown to Destruction" from In Space. It takes place in a large city, in a block design similar to the Angel Grove map, but much larger. Fallen buildings and debris block paths, making it harder to get around. The Dark Fortress can be seen in the map's night sky, hovering above the city. | |
Terra Venture Forest | Based on the various forests featured throughout Lost Galaxy. The area is large and forested, and one of the most open maps in the game. At one edge of the area, you can spot the central tower and dome of Terra Venture in the distance. | |
Clock Tower | Based on the clock tower base from Time Force. The area around the titular clock tower is a large field with debris strewn about. The clock tower itself is split into multiple floors, making it the most vertical map in the game. The clockface is destroyed, letting you jump from the top right to the bottom. | |
Island Fortress | Based on Mesogog's island fortress from Dino Thunder. The lower half of the map takes place on a flat jungle area, the trees and foliage acting as walls and turning it into a maze, with larger openings functioning as arenas. The upper half, however, takes place in the far more vertical fortress itself. | |
Terror Spacecraft | Based on Emperor Grumm's spaceship from SPD. The map is split into seven different circular arenas, five forming a large line, and then two off to the side, with the largest one in the middle featuring a tank that holds Omni. Omni is capable of attacking players with energy blasts, though this depends on the mission. | |
Shiba House | Based on the Japan-inspired Shiba House base from Samurai. A chunk of the map takes place inside the Shiba House itself, which is mostly corridors with large rooms. However, going outside the house, you will be able to find a Japanese-style garden, which is far more open, and has no barriers. This is one of the smallest maps in the game. | |
Harwood County | Based on the main city from Megaforce. While visually similar to the Invaded City map, it is much smaller, and focuses more around a small area of destroyed buildings. This map is also heavily vertical, with some areas being on upper floors of the ruined buildings. A crashed Armada spacecraft can be found as well, and more can be spotted flying in the sky. | |
Dinosaur Museum | Based on the Amber Beach Dinosaur Museum base from Dino Charge. This map takes place in and around the museum, with most of it taking place inside. The area is divided into multiple different sections of varying sizes, since it is a museum. The hidden base underneath the museum can be accessed by the secret passage at the very back of the map. |
Game Modes[]
Story Mode[]
Story Mode is the main mode of the game. In it, you will go through multiple chapters, each representing a different season, as you hunt down a mysterious force that has been messing with the universe. There are fifteen chapters in total, and each is split into a number of different missions. Most missions follow unique objectives, though many chapters share similar mission types. Overall, there are over 70 different story missions throughout the 23 chapters.
Characters and Megazords will be unlocked throughout the campaign, though not all of them are. Players will also be able to gain ranks based on their performance on missions, ranging from D to S rank. These ranks can be used to unlock certain secrets. Secret Power Coins can also be found by exploring the maps, with a different Power Coin being hidden in each mission.
Morphin' Grid Missions[]
Taking place inside the Morphin' Grid itself, Morphin' Grid Missions is the game's unique mission mode. Each character is represented on an interconnected web of missions, and each character is given 5 unique missions they must complete. Completing certain missions will unlock connections to other sections, and unlocking new missions. Like with Story Mode, players are rewarded different ranks depending on their performance. Some connections can only be unlocked via certain completion ratings.
Special Color Nodes can be found as well, which unlock more missions that can only be completed by specific colored Rangers. Certain characters, specifically villain characters like Lord Zedd and Mesogog, can only be unlocked via this mode. Special Power Coins can be unlocked via this mode, as well as new Assist characters. In total, there are over 300 missions to complete.
Free Play[]
Free Play mode lets you replay any mission you've previously completed in Story or Mission mode. The difference is that every mission now has no restrictions, allowing you to play them with any character that you please. The only exceptions are missions where the chosen character appears as an NPC or boss. Ranks will carry over from Story and Mission mode as well, and harder difficulties are available as well.
Power Chamber[]
The Power Chamber is an area where you can customize and power up your unlocked characters. This menu can be accessed before any mission as well, but is available on the main menu for convenience sake. In the Power Chamber, players can equip their characters with Power Coins, or use collected Power Essences, gained by destroying certain items, to level up them up.
Store[]
The store can also be accessed before any mission, but is also located on the main menu. In here, you can give Alpha 5 collected Zeo Shards, also gained by destroying certain objects, in order to unlock and power up Power Coins, and unlock additional Assist characters.
Gallery[]
This lets you view character models and the images shown on collected Power Coins.
Enemies & Bosses[]
Enemies fall into three different categories. The basic enemies are called Footsoldiers, and act as basic fodder for your character to defeat en masse. While they do have unique properties, they are all very easy to defeat. The second types are Captains, which show up less often, have higher health, and more advanced AI and attack patterns.
The final type are Bosses. Bosses have significantly stronger attacks, smarter AI, and much higher health. At certain points, a boss will put up a shield that must be broken with a Breaker attack. Depending on the level/difficulty, a boss can put up 1 to 5 shields. They are also usually required to defeat to win most missions. There are unique Footsoldiers, Captains, and Bosses representing each map. When playable characters are encountered, they are classified as bosses, and have less advenced versions of their basic movesets.
In addition to the related levels mentioned below, any enemy can be matched to any level, with many different combinations of the three types appearing in the Morphin' Grid Mission mode.
