Porygon 2 is a Normal Pokémon that was introduced in Generation 2, but evolves from a Generation 1 Pokémon. Numerous aspects of its design make references to the fact that it is indeed an upgrade of Porygon 1, including the fact that it's less primitive and jagged looking as well as shorter and lighter. Despite being unevolved, it remains popular enough among competitive battlers that Smogon often puts it in a higher tier than Porygon-Z.
So far, its roles in the animé have been limited to small cameos; it's commonly believed that the "ban" that was imposed on Porygon 1 following the EP038 seizure controversy extends to Porygon 2 as well.
All canon Pokémon are available in Tropes vs. Women in Pokémon Training, including Porygon 2. Regular Porygon 2 can't be found in the wild in this game; however, it has a Sanclairian regional form that can, and has the following differences:
It evolves from Porygon 1 at Level 16 and into Porygon-Z at Level 32.
The Sanclairian version of the Porygon line is billed as an "open source fork" of the original source code, essentially a Pokémon version of Linux.
But wait! There's more! Regular Porygon 2 also has a special evolution in the game's Nintendo Switch remake, Porygon-X, that can be achieved by trading it with a Porygon Apple, an obvious reference to Apple Computer, Inc. and the Macintosh. Porygon-X is a Steel type. This, naturally, makes Porygon-Z a reference to Windows.

Notes
This Pokémon can theoretically be any TWO types it wants to be since it can also learn Reflect Type in addition to the two Conversions.
With Volt Absorb, this Pokémon is immune to Electric.
Years after the original Porygon fork died, a hobbyist community picked it back up and began working on it. Most notably, this Pokémon is far more capable of working in outer space than the original, which is a bad testament to how bloated and corrupt Silph Co. has become...
