Pokken Tournament is an upcoming game for the Nintendo NX, developed by The Pokemon Company and Bandai Namco Entertainment based on the highly successful Japanese arcade game by the same name. The game is focused around 1 on 1 battling of a select roster of fighter Pokemon.
The game is based on the Tekken game series, and utilizes the new concept of Mega Pokemon first introduced in Pokemon X & Y for the 3DS.
The current Pokemon revealed as playable in the game include Pikachu, Lucario, Machamp, Blaziken, Gardevoir, Gengar, and Suicune. Each of these playable characters have been confirmed for amiibo figure releases within close proximity to the game's initial launch. Alongside these are a series of assist Pokemon which support the player during battle. These assist Pokemon include Lapras, Emolga, Frogadier, Eevee, Snivy, and Fennekin.
Reggie Fils-Aime has stated that the game will be formally revealed at the 2016 Electronics Entertainment Expo (E3) during Nintendo's digital event, and a demo of the game will be available on the show floor of the expo for visitors to experience first-hand.
Pokken Tournament was the third game announced for the Nintendo NX. The game will be released in Q1 2018 as one of the console's initial games. The ESRB has rated the title E10+.
