Pokémon Party is a party game developed by Game Freak and Freeze Bomb Studios, and published by Nintendo for the Switch. The game plays extremely similarly to the long-running Mario Party series in that characters traverse a board, compete in minigames, and use items to stop their enemies.

Gameplay

One night in the world of pokemon, five mysterious crystals fell from the sky. Pikachu found one of the sky crystals and showed it to his friends. Suddenly, a Pelipper swooped above the gang, and dropped invitations signed by Giovanni. The invitations promised a party and free food at Team Rocket's Hideout. Pikachu and his friends rush over to the Hideout when suddenly, a large steel cage comes crashing down on the crew. Team Rocket Sends Pikachu and gang down to Prehistoric times and steals the sky crystal. Team Rocket then launches the Stars as far away from the Hideout to Prehistoric times as possible.

Game Modes

In Pokémon Party, there are various game modes, each being playable at the start of the game. Below is a list of all the game modes, as well as a basic summary of what goes on in them.

  • Story Mode: A single-player mode that follows the storyline of the game. It puts the player through the five boards of the game, requiring them to win a Battle Royal on each board and defeat the boss of it in a minigame to progress.
  • Party Mode: Party Mode is the game's basic mode. It's a traditional battle between up to four players to see who can collect the most stars. Party Mode has various settings for the amount of rounds, minigame frequency, items available from Chansey, and computer difficulty.
  • Minigame Gallery: The Minigame Gallery allows you to practice free-for-all, one-versus-three, partner, and duel minigames, as well as play sub-modes that are made up of nothing but minigames. Like Party Mode, computer difficulty can be adjusted to how you see fit.
  • Gallery: Includes over 120 collectibles that can be viewed at the player's discretion when unlocked. This mode also allows them to listen to the game's music and watch the cutscenes seen in Story Mode when viewed at least once in it.
