The PlayStation 3 is a seventh generation system by Sony which is the successor of the PlayStation 2. Major features of the console include its unified online gaming service, the PlayStation Network, its multimedia capabilities, connectivity with the PlayStation Portable, and its use of the Blu-ray Disc as its primary storage medium. The system was officially released on November 11th, 2006 in Japan. It is well known for game series such as Infamous, Ratchet and Clank, and LittleBigPlanet. On February 20, 2013, Sony announced the successor to the PlayStation 3, the PlayStation 4 which was released on November 15, 2013 in North America.
