Pironaut Expedition is a 3D platforming collect-a-thon game developed by Seashiba Studios and is said to release in Winter 2025 on Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Nintendo Switch.

Story

The game begins with a Pironaut drone tasked with sending recruitment invitations across Spectria, the game's main setting. However, a windy stormy causes the drone to accidentally drop the letters. One of them reaches a young villager child working on one of his chores, who is immediately excited when he grabs it. After spreading the news, his mom is skeptical that he'll make it, but still takes him on a flight to the Pironaut Headquarters the next day.

After introducing himself as Glen and signing his signature, the kid says his farewells to his caretaker as he is given a rather small room to live in. The next morning, he and plenty of others are given a set of trials to complete, and if they rank up a total score of 50, they are officially part of the group. Regardless of what the players does though, he would always be tripped or pushed back by a few mean trainees.

After the trials, Glen becomes one of the trainees with a score of less than 50. However, due to his longtime desire of becoming a Pironaut and his incompetence, he begs for a second chance. Much to his surprise though, instead of doing the trials again, the admins give him a seemingly tiring task of collecting Soul Jewels and returning them to the office that seemed impossible for a trainee, but Glen accepts anyway out of sheer desperation.

Gameplay

Similar to a few sandbox platformer titles, mainly the original Spyro the Dragon, the player is first dropped in a 3D environment where they can practice their platforming and controls, check out collected artifacts, buy spare power-ups, and most importantly, enter worlds through portals. In each world, there are a list of goals to follow that eventually lead you to the game's main collectible, Soul Jewels. Once all required tasks are completed, the next world is unlocked. The chips can also be used for unlocking additional tasks in worlds whose required tasks were already completed.

Within each world, there are also various other collectibles to find. The most common collectible is the Piro Coin, which is used to buy certain items and power-ups. Wisps, a special type of item with its own shop, can be equipped by the player for a preferred, customizable control scheme. Also hidden within each world are a series of Artifacts that will be displayed in the HUB world's Museum as well as raise the player's Reputation when collected.

Speaking of which, the player's Reputation Level is required for getting 100% true ending, and can be raised by talking to NPCs, accepting and completing their tasks for a certain world, and of course, collecting a majority of all the other collectibles, including Artifacts.
