Pikmin 4[]

Pikmin 4 will be a sequel to Pikmin 3 that takes place after the events of said game. It would be playable on the Nintendo Switch console. It takes place of Louie and Frankie crash landing their D.D. Shark ship onto a different Pikmin planet due to getting hit by meteors multiple times in space.

Plot[]

The scene opens to Louie and his girlfriend Frankie driving their D.D. Shark ship through outer space. The two are taking a vacation into space after all of their very hard work to which Frankie became a new employee. They put their ship into autopilot. Just when they were to find somewhere to go on their vacation, comets smash into their D.D. Shark multiple times, knocking Louie and Frankie out of their ship and pulling them along with their ship into the gravity field of a different Pikmin planet. All 60 parts of the D.D. Shark spaceship fall off as Louie and Frankie's ship plummets to the ground in the form of a fireball and crashes. When Louie and his girlfriend Frankie regain consciousness and they stand up off the ground, they find out that their D.D. Shark is in ruins and the Pikmin planet has toxic oxygen. Louie and Frankie can only stay here on this Pikmin planet for 60 days.

Gameplay[]

Pikmin 4 has a few returning gameplay elements from other Pikmin games.

  • Like in Pikmin in 2001, you got to find all 60 space parts of the D.D. Shark so Frankie and Louie can go home. The best ending is when you have all 60 ship parts, the good ending is when you have 50 necessary parts, the bad ending is failing to find 50 parts of the D.D. Shark. If you fail to find 50 parts within 60 days, Louie and Frankie know that time's up to which they cannot stay here and must go. They will try to take off, only for the engine to explode and for the ship to fall from the sky before crash landing back onto the planet. Their dead bodies are carried to the onion by the Pikmin and they turn into Pikmin like seeds.
  • Swarming Pikmin returns in this final installment of Pikmin. Louie's swarming fanfare returns in this game, and it's used for his girlfriend Frankie too. Frankie's whistle sounds the same as Louie's in Pikmin 2.
  • If Louie or Frankie take damage from enemies or hazards, the screen will move like taking damage in Pikmin in 2001 while their hp wheel depletes. Their HP will start beeping when it is below 50% and the beeping gets faster once it is depleted more than that if not completely depleted. If Louie or Frankie's health wheel has gone out completely, a short Custance will play of Louie or Frankie spinning in circles with their suits electrifying and smoking before falling down on their stomachs, changing the screen from color to black and white afterwards. The days ends automatically when both Louie and Frankie are down.
  • If all the Pikmin go extinct in which you lose all species of Pikmin, Louie and Frankie will look around before hanging their heads down before the day ends automatically.
  • The End Of The Line music from the first Rayman game on the PlayStation 1 plays when Louie and Frankie regain consciousness before standing up before sadly walking to their spaceship with their heads hanging down before getting in the ship because of going down unconscious due to them taking damage beyond their space suits' limits or they both sadly walk to their spaceship with their heads hanging down before looking back and continuing to walk back to the ship with their heads hanging down before getting in their D.D. Shark if all species of the Pikmin are killed.
  • 2 Player battle versus mode returns from Pikmin 2. Player 1 plays as Louie and Player 2 plays as Frankie (Louie's girlfriend and soon to be his wife). The 2 Player battle mode in Pikmin 4 is very similar to Pikmin 2's 2 Player battle mode. P1 is blue and P2 is green in Pikmin 4's 2 Player versus battle mode.
  • The challenge mode is also in the final installment of Pikmin with either Louie and Frankie collecting food or treasure.
  • Louie retains his voice in Pikmin 3 as well as his toy train sounding whistle.

Characters[]

Louie: Louie gets his own game at last. His D.D. Shark ships which Frankie also owns suffers the same fate as Olimar's S.S. Dolphin. Crash landing on a Pikmin planet, but it is a different Pikmin planet. He is a chef, has a food and bug obsession, and is the protagonist of this Pikmin 4 game.

Frankie: Frankie is the secondary protagonist of the game. Her hair is orange, her antenna light is green, and her spacesuit is green and orange. She is Louie's girlfriend and loves spicy food as well as any other kinds of food and kinds of bugs like her boyfriend. Her dreams and wishes are to be with Louie, to be the best chef and clothing artist on Hocotate, be the prettiest girl on Hocotate, to have a family with lots of daughters (since she loves makeup and hair styling), and to grow a veggie garden (with Louie of course).

Pikmin[]

Red Pikmin-A species of Pikmin with a red coloration and a sharp nose-like appendage. They are stronger than most other Pikmin and are resistant to fire. They are rather stubborn and will not stop until they have achieved their goal.

Yellow Pikmin-A species of Pikmin with a yellow coloration and large ears on the sides of their heads. They can be thrown higher than other Pikmin, are electricty-resistant, and are expert diggers. They have the tendency to be adventurous, and prefer high places.

Blue Pikmin-A species of Pikmin with blue coloration and a gill on their face that bears a resemblance to a mouth. They are able to swim and will not drown when placed into water. They just love the water, and are rather social and bubbly.

Purple Pikmin-A species of Pikmin with purple coloration and 3 hair-like appendages on each side of their head. They are larger and stronger than other Pikmin, having the strength of 10 and being so heavy that they create shockwaves when landing. Purple Pikmin are gentle giants, and like the company of other Pikmin, their weight also helps them resist strong winds.

White Pikmin-A species of Pikmin with white coloration and large, beady, red eyes. They are smaller than other Pikmin, and are not only resistant to poison, but are also poisonous when consumed by other creatures. They are rather irritable, and get agitated easily, but they can't do much due to their size.

Rock Pikmin-A species of Pikmin with a gray coloration and a hard body in the shape of a rock. They are crush resistant, and are so hard that they're able to break glass easily. They are very courageous, and will defend other Pikmin from threats.

Winged Pikmin-A species of Pikmin with a pink coloration, large, blue eyes, and small, bug-like wings. They are the smallest type of Pikmin discovered, and are able to fly, but are very weak. They tend to be shy, and will promptly flee if startled.

*NEW* Camo Pikmin-A species of Pikmin with dark green coloration and webbed hands and feet, tipped with small claws. They are able to camouflage and blend in with the invironment, as the name suggests, and are also able to climb walls and stick to enemies due to their clawed hands and feet. They seem to be more intelligent than other Pikmin, and even seem to strategize. (When thrown or charged, they will camouflage so enemies won't see them.)

*NEW* Thorn Pikmin-A species of Pikmin with orange coloration and thorns on its stalk. They will not be eaten by enemies due to their spiky bodies, and will be spat out. They are rather hardy Pikmin, but they are a bit vain due to their strengths. (They will also do slight damage to enemies that attempt to eat them. Bosses are unaffected by the Thorn Pikmin's ability, and will eat them anyway.)

*NEW* Cyan Pikmin-A species of Pikmin with cyan coloration, big, white eyes, and a layer of ice covering its torso. They are not only immune to ice, but will also freeze any water they walk across. They are often silent, and tend to keep to themselves.

Weather[]

Neutral[]

Neutral weather is the default weather for an area. It has no positive or negative effects on the environment, creatures, or Pikmin.

Rainy[]

Rainy weather is the most common non-neutral weather in Pikmin 4. During rainy weather, the water level will be slightly higher, and aquatic enemies are more common. Blue Pikmin will be stronger and Red Pikmin will be weaker.

Windy[]

During windy weather, there will be occasional gusts of wind that will blow captains and Pikmin around. Pikmin that are least resistant to wind are Whites and Wingeds, and Purples and Rocks are the most resistant. Flying enemies will also be less common.

Thunderstorms[]

Thunderstorms have the effects of both rainy and windy weather. There is also the occasional thunder, which will scare Pikmin and cause them to run around in fear. Blues and Yellows become stronger, with Reds and Wingeds becoming weaker. Land-based and flying enemies are less common, with aquatic enemies being much more common. Lightning can strike at any moment, electrocuting Louie and Frankie as well as killing any Pikmin that aren't immune to electricity.

Snowy[]

During snowy weather, enemies are less common and most water will be frozen over. However, the ice can be broken with Purples or Rocks. Cyan Pikmin will be stronger during snowy weather. Ice-based enemies will also be more common.

Heat wave[]

During a heat wave, water levels will be slightly lower and fire-based enemies will be more common. Red Pikmin will also be stronger, with Blues and Cyans being weaker.

Mutations[]

When a Pikmin is produced by an Onion, they have a small chance to come with a mutation that can make them stronger than other Pikmin. The different types of mutation include: More attack power, chance to not be shaken off, faster digging, higher throw range, farther throw range, flowering over time, chance to recieve and Ultra Spicy Spray effect when charging, and more speed. Mutations are unable to stack, and there is only space for 1 mutation per Pikmin. A mutant Pikmin is signified by a brown colored leaf, a red colored bud, or a flower with red petals and an orange center.

Trivia[]

When you get a good ending because of getting 50 necessary parts for the D.D. Shark or the best ending because of getting all 60 ship parts for the D.D. Shark, the Custance scenes of all the enemies in Pikmin 4 appear during the credits with Louie and Frankie's notes about how all those enemies should be cooked into a recipe. The end credits music of Pikmin 4 is the Piklopedia theme from Pikmin 2.
