Throughout the game, Peach uses partners. His partners have purposes in both the overworld and battle.
Every partner knows one normal attack and one ability upon joining the party but learns a second ability after being upgraded to Super Rank.
A partner can also masters the Vibe Mode when given by a Princess Spirit. By using the Vine Mode, they will give new power to Princess Peach. Each partner give a different set a Vibe Power depending on their specialty.
In Paper Peach, instead of the Flower Points using in the first two Paper Mario games, the partner can use their ability without using Flower Point even if sometimes using an ability comes with a price for the Partner like losing Heart Point or resting during the next turn.
There is a total of 9 partners in the game with one of them being a secret partner and another, Toadette, only available in the Prologue and the Last Chapter of the game.
Toadette and Princess Peach get along very well. Toadette always wants to help Peach any way she can, even though she's pushy about it and even when everything seems to prove that Peach is becoming dangerous. Unlike the other partners, Toadette doesn't have any power or vibe ability but she always gives her best to help the Princess, you can count on her to punch the bad guy! Toadette is only available for specific moment during the adventure.
Mr. Goom
The Wacky Warlock
Peach comes across this unpredictable Goom, when she tries to free the Wario Castle against Madame Mothana. Like most of her partner, Mr Goom can't talk but he succeed to present himself as a novice (and often clumsy) magician with big dreams. We all hope that someday, we will find in a prestigious theater!
ABILITIES
Abra Kadabra
Mr Goom summons rabbits and doves from his hat, the more power the player put with the smash-button action the more animals will attack the opponents giving the chance to attack even the most distant opponent.
Wheel of Misfortune
When Mr Goom hits an opponent a Wheel appears, with a good timing the player can stop the wheel on the status of his choice (Poison, Burn, ...) and give it to the opponent if it's not protected against it.
VIBE MODE
Status Effect
When Mr Goom is in Vibe Mode, Peach can use new Vibe Power where she can play with status (Poison, Power Up,..) on her opponents, partner and herself.
Freek
The Good Ghoul
It's on the sinister Chai island that Peach finds this unusual ally. Freek is the most terrifying Masked Ghoul, all others Ghouls are afraid of him because of his cold-blooded stare! Fascinated by all the pink and other Peach's girly things, Freek decided to follow her before finally befriending her and becoming her partner.
ABILITIES
Cold-blooded Stare
A stare challenge happens between Freek and a selected enemy. By tapping quickly the attack button you need to fill up the challenge bar with your color but beware the enemy will also try to fill it up. The one that loose the challenge won't play this turn and the next.
Scary Midnight
Attacking a sleeping enemy with this power will inflict the double amount of regular Freek's damage.
VIBE MODE
Stage Effect
When Freek is in Vibe Mode, Peach can use new Vibe Power where she can play with the stage conditions (Gravity, Wind,...) changing the rules of a battle.
