Pac-Man Rift to Realms (also referred as Pac Man World 4 or パックマン:次元を超えて) is a video game developed by Bandai Namco and published by Nintendo exclusively for the Nintendo Switch released in July 23th, 2020. After it's success, Pac-Man Rift to Realms was announced that it would be ported to other consoles including the Playstation 4, Xbox One, PC (via Steam), and Microsoft Windows on November 29th, 2020. In Pac-Man: Rift to Realms, the player controls Pac-Man in a 3D platform game like in the Pac-Man World series and has been confirmed to be seperate from the Ghostly Adventure games. It features many levels that combine linear and open world, taking inspiration from famous 3D platformers such as Super Mario Galaxy, Crash Bandicoot and Sonic Adventure, encouraging the player to look around and explore with the controls while advancing through each level to the end throughout the game.

Story

The Beginning of a New Adventure

In the depths of space, a large purple comet flies through deep space until a large asteroid intercepts it's path and collides into each other, changing it's direction and heads towards Earth. During it's decend, a piece of the comet breaks off and ends up in the lab of Professor Pac. On Ghost Island, the Ghost Gang (Blinky, Pinky, Inky, and Clyde) are talking to one and another while playing a game of cards until Clyde and later the rest of the gang see the purple comet heading towards their location, being forced to move out of the way. The comet explodes and sends many of it's fragments showering on Pac-Land and Ghost Island.

In an uncharted land, Orson is fixing a device until his computer alerts him with several massive energy spikes on Ghost Island. Surprised from the alert, Orson teleports himself to Ghost Island to get to the bottom of it. Back on Ghost Island, Orson arrives on Ghost Island and sees the comet pieces that crashed on the island of ghosts and investigates by collecting some samples while meeting up with the Ghost Gang.

Meanwhile, a few of the comet pieces in large sizes crash land onto a graveyard section of Ghost Island. The energy from them leaks out and radiated the area while seeping into the ground while covering a large coffin underground. The energy from the meteorites release too much power which causes the revival of who was one of the most feared people on the planet, the long dead General of the Ghost Armada, Spectra. After Spectra reawakens, she discovers her newfound powers and uses them to enslaves nearly all of Ghost Island's population with the exception of the Ghost Gang and Orson. He escapes through teleportation, which can only work for one person while the Ghost Gang escapes by sailing on a boat. They sail towards Pac Land as Inky knows a certain someone who can help before Blinky figures out who he's talking about and protests.

Meanwhile, Pac Man and his family were invited by Professor Pac to explain the mystery of the comet piece that he had obtained, saying it could potentially open portals to different worlds. During his explanation, the Ghost Gang had paid a visit to ask for help into stopping Spectra, frightening Professor Pac about the return of the Ghost General before he explains who she is. Pac Man steps in to solve the issue to defeat Spectra and gathering the Realm Gems before she has enough to possibly take over other worlds.

SPOILER ALERT BELOW!!!

After Pac Man defeats Flurria and gets the third Realm Gem in Silver Glacier, the Ghost Witch suddenly appears behind him and Fuyu declaring that she'll take Pac Man on herself while Flurria flees. The Ghost Witch lunges at Pac Man, electricity in her hands, until Fuyu panics and accidentally impales the Ghost Witch with an ice spire. Then a portal appears and Spectra comes out and introduces herself to Pac Man as well as revealing that she is the Ghost Witch's younger sister. The Ghost Witch (later revealed to be named Azura) attempts to gloat to Pac Man that she and Spectra will destroy him, only for Spectra to turn her back and fire black flames at her older sister, catching her on fire. After some background, Spectra tells Azura to say her last goodbye as she snaps her fingers and the flames engulf the Ghost Witch and incinerate her. Pac Man and Fuyu are left shocked as well as Professor Pac who was listening to the whole thing as Spectra leaves the Snow Realm.

Road to the Finale

After Pac Man collects more Realm Gems and defeats Hex and obtains the Realm Gem in the Galaxy Realm, Professor Pac prepares to transport him until the Creep Squad breaks into his lab and kidnaps him along with Pac Man Jr, Baby Pac Man, and Chomp Chomp. Ms. Pac Man transports Pac Man herself before she too is captured. After being transported into the Ghostly Realm, Orson speaks through Pac Man from the lab as Ms. Pac Man had dialed him to come over before being captured. Pac Man then learns of his family's kidnapping, he is determined to save them along with Pac Man while Orson guides him.

Meanwhile, Flurria spots Pac Man and warns Spectra about his arrival. Spectra tells Tasma to activate her invention, the Rift Cracker, despite not being fully complete which opens multiple portals to other realms while making a portal that spills out Spectral Monsters. Many of the friends Pac Man made during his adventures all come out of the portals and help him out while he storms Spectra's fortress.

After completing Creepy Corridor, the final level, Pac Man reaches Spectra's throne room with his family and friends chained to the wall alongside the Ghost Gang. Spectra and Pac Man exchange words to each other before Fuyu and Aphos crash through the window and free Pac Man's family and lead them to safety with the Creep Squad in pursuit. The Ghost General then channels electricity and lifts the throne room in the air while making a whirlwind surrounding it as Pac Man and Spectra have a final faceoff.

Rifting Back to Home (Ending)

After Pac Man defeats Spectra, she unleashes one final attack and attempts to stab Pac-Man with her staff before he catches it. Backed into a corner, Pac-Man yanks out the Realm Gem from her staff with one hand and uses it to punch Spectra, knocking her out before destroying the machine and closing the Spectral Monster portal. Back at Professor Pac's lab, Spectra reawakens to find herself in a chamber where Professor Pac uses the Realm Gems on a device which opens a portal to an unknown realm called the Paranormal Realm and begins to pull her in. Spectra tries to escape, but fails and is sucked into the portal, but not before declaring revenge on Pac Man as the portal closes, trapping her in for years to come.

While cleaning up the large mess Spectra left in Pac-Land, Pac-Man, his family, his friends, and the ghosts heads to Ghost Island to attend Azura's (Ghost Witch) funeral as she had been killed by Spectra back in Silver Glacier. Then, all of Pac Man's friends decide to head back to their homes as they exchange their goodbyes, but not before celebrating over his victory as Ms. Pac Man gives him a kiss. Pinky also attempts to flirt with Pac Man until Ms. Pac Man eats a Power Pellet and chases after her while Blinky, Inky, and Clyde are chased by an enraged Camilla before the credits play which features various characters in the game dancing to the music.

Gameplay

Pac-Man: Rift to Realms, like the World series, is a 3D platformer controlling similar to those games. The player once again controls Pac-Man in a 3D environment along a linear three-dimensional path with a simple objective of reaching the end of the level. The only difference is that the levels are a bit more expansive having more to explore and collect. The plot instead has Pac-Man traveling through different worlds while collecting Realm Gems before Spectra, the main antagonist, gets them first. Pac-Man must travel through many unique places, battle old and new enemies, and beat levels in order to progress. At the end of each world is a boss that is required to be beaten to advance to the next world.

There are many items to collect in this game including fruit, the traditional dots, and tokens along with other bonuses. Each of the levels has 3 tokens, as well as an additional token for achieving 100% completion on the level. Galaxians are a special type of fruit that transports Pac-Man into a maze fitting the theme of the current level with the objective being collecting all the dots. Tokens are used in the Arcade on Pac Village where you can use them to play arcade games made by Namco such as the classic Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-Man, and Pac-Mania, while there are other games not recognized by the public like Wonder Momo and Valkyrie no Densetsu. Concept art can be viewed in the Museum once all 360 Tokens are collected.

The player will also be starting with five lives and can earn more if they find an extra life or if they collect 50 Pac Dots if Pac Man has full health. If you are hit by an enemy, obstacle, or substain fall damage you lose a segment from a Pac-Man shaped health bar, but you can refill by collecting 50 Pac Dots or finding health wedges in levels. You can only take up to three hits before losing a life upon a fourth hit unless Pac-Man falls into a bottomless pit, gets hit by an insta-kill hazard, or falls too high from a part of a stage. Losing all of your collected lives results in a game over and forcing the player to restart the level or boss battle they died in from the beginning.

Pac-Man uses his attacks he has used in previous games such as the Butt Bounce, Rev Roll, Pac-Dot Launch, Super Pac-Dot Launch and Flip Kick while punching returns from Pac Man World 3. He will also use many power ups like the Chrome Pellet and Mini Pellet that work as they did in past games while obtaining new ones like the Pyro Pellet and Frog Pellet. Some power ups like the Twister Pellet and Flash Pellet will be used in puzzles while others are more suited for combat such as the Ribbon Loop Pellet and the Super Bounce Pellet. There are few sections in a couple of levels where the player must defeat all the enemies in order to progress. Some levels contain a mini boss at the end of a level that needs to be beaten to complete the level to advance.

Pac-Man Rift to Realms also features a way to help players pass through harder levels throughout the game. If a player dies on a level too many times, an enity similar to Pac Man named Meteo will appear at the last checkpoint the player passed and offer help. If the player accepts, Meteo will appear at the start of the level and proceed to complete it without putting much effort avoiding collectables or getting hit. However, once Meteo completes the level, it'll be the player's turn to complete the level. He doesn't appear in boss battles or in the Heaven Realm. On Hard Mode, Meteo doesn't appear at all.

Network World

Network World is a mode where players can play with or against each other online. There are two modes that players can choose to play; them being Battle Royale and Course Crashers. Battle Royale is a game mode where four people play as Pac Man inside a maze collecting Dots and gaining the most points to see who wins while starting with three lives. Power Ups spawn throughout the match to increase your chances of winning while doing the opposite to other players. There is one item called the Ghost Lock which sets the ghosts free, causing more havoc among the match, but offer bonus points when eaten by the player. If one person loses all three of their lives, they are eliminated for the rest of the match. The person with the most points when the timer runs out is the winner. Extra lives are awarded as prizes. Course Crashers is another game mode where four players play as Pac Man, but instead of running through a maze, players must complete one of the fourteen stages available. The stages are one level from each of the worlds. Players will be able to see each other in the form of a ghost to see where they are. The first person to clear the level wins.

Battle Royale Items

  • Vortex Power Up - Sucks in the other three players and traps them for 10 seconds
  • Ice Power Up - Freezes the other three players, slowing them down for 10 seconds
  • Speed Power Up - The player gets a speed boost for 10 seconds
  • Wall Power Up - The player can make a wall, blocking the way for others for 10 seconds
  • Ghost Power Up - The player turns into a ghost for 10 seconds and can take away a player's life
  • Bomb Power Up - The player turns into a bomb and can detonate an explosion, taking theirs and another player's life
  • Mega Power Up - The player grows large for 10 seconds and can chomp other players
  • Magnet Power Up - All pellets will be attracted to the player for 10 seconds
  • Lightning Power Up - All but the player will be shocked and stunned for 5 seconds
  • Ghost Lock - The ghosts will be released one by one, but can be put back in by eating them with a Power Pellet

Worlds and Levels

Pac Man Rift to Realms features fifthteen new worlds known as Realms because they're in different places not found in Pac-Land or on Earth, each with 3 levels (except the last three worlds, Starry Colony, Spooky Hollow and Dimension Colosseum; the former having 4, the second former having 5 and the latter having 15) and a boss battle for each world, tallying it up to 60 levels while excluding boss fights. Once you defeat the world boss, you can advance to the next one. After completing a Realm, each of them can be revisited for Time Attack, practice, or to find a Rascal Realm Gem which causes random effects on completed levels. You can still revisit the hub world by heading back to Professor Pac's lab. Another detail about each level is that each time a level is selected, the loading screen displays a part of the chosen stage with Pac-Man doing a random animation; for example, when the level Magma Madness is selected, a portion of the level will show with Pac Man playing hackysack with a Pac-Dot.

HUB: Pac-Village

Pac-Village is not a level, rather it's a medium-sized open HUB world location where Pac Man can explore around the place collecting fruit, tokens, and other collectibles. There's an arcade where the player can use tokens to play many arcade games like the original Pac Man, Ms. Pac Man, Pac-Mania, and Pac-Attack along with non Pac-Man games like Galaga, Dig Dug, and Mappy. There's a museum that can be opened later in the game that shows a gallery of concept art from other games made by Namco. There are also two secret locations that can be visited, one being the Forest of Fairies which is the entrance to Fairyland while the other is the Spectral Realm, another homely location for ghosts that appeared in Pac Man World 3.

World 1: Forest Realm (Greenleaf Grove)

"Get your Pac-game started on the first realm, the Forest Realm that is home to the Greenleaf Grove – a lush green world that teaches new players the basic controls as well as offering many challenges and foes!"

Greenleaf Grove is the first world in Pac-Man Rift to Realms. It is a grassy plain filled with small forests that inhabit many critters, some of them trying to kill Pac Man. While there are many elements incorperated in Greenleaf Grove like having a number of slopes, wheat fields, and bridges, there are also hazards that have to be avoided such as thorny plants, the enemies that live here, and of course; Bottomless pits. The three levels that can be played here (excluding the boss area) are Buzzy Beginnings, Pitfall Prime, and Fruity Falls. This world is meant to be the test world to let players get a hold of the controls.

Level  Number

Level Name Level Description Number of Fruits
1 Buzzy Beginnings

Buzzy Beginnings is the first level of Pac Man Rift to Realms and the Forest Realm. As its name suggests, this level introduces Pac-Man to the basics and controls of the game such as walking, jumping, climbing, and swimming while tutoring the player their attacks such as the Butt Bounce, Rev Roll, Flip Kick, and Pac Dot Launch. There are signs around the stage with directions on how to perform the abilities with the controls. There are little to no hazards in this stage other than a few Bees, Pac-Cubs, Ghosts, pitfalls, and thorny plants. In the pond area, it introduces the Chrome Pellet, but only for the sake of collecting items underwater.

This level introduces enemies that weren't present in the first level like the Mantis, RGB, and the Pac Bear, a bigger variation of the Pac-Cub. Unlike the first level, Buzzing Beginnings, this level has a numerous amount of bottomless pits that can cause Pac Man to lose a life if he falls in when not being careful, hence the name Pitfall Prime. This is also the first level to introduce the Galaxian where it transports Pac Man into a maze.

Fruity Falls is the third level of Pac Man Rift to Realms and the Forest Realm. This level has Pac Man scaling the side of a mountain near a waterfall, not to mention a large number of pitfalls waiting to be fallen into. This is one of the few levels where Pac Man can swim around to press switches to activate Pac Dot Chains and get to other platforms. Pinwheel and windmill platforms are found throughout the stage stuck onto the walls which Pac Man can use to progress. There's a small number of flooded caves with waterfalls that can be entered to find a way through the level while possibly finding shortcuts and other bonuses, although not without the obstacles of bottomless pits and stalactites. Enemies reappear as well to stand in your way, but some have fruit inside them that can open fruit chests and doors found in the level.

World 2: Under Realm (Crimson Caverns)

"From top to bottom, Pac Man is sent to venture into the deep underground where it starts to become a challenge as you go from jumping from falling platforms, dodge rolling boulders, and even riding on minecarts. Welcome to the home of the Crimson Caverns, the Under Realm!"

Crimson Caverns is the second world in Pac-Man Rift to Realms. It takes place inside a gigantic underground cave being barely lit by the glowing crystals and lit torches found in the stages. Few elements from the Forest Realm return such as the bridges and pitfalls, the latter which have multiplies to the point where some of the levels are above pitfalls and features the return of the B-Doings from the Pac Man World series. New elements are incorperated such as platforms collapsing once landed or grabbed on, more areas where Pac Man must swim, and sections where the player can ride on minecarts as well as hazards like the number of spike traps made from crystals, stalactites falling from the ceiling onto unsuspecting players, and rolling boulders. The three levels that can be played here are Gusty Dusty Cave, Boulder Alley, and Minecart Mayhem. This world is the second easiest out of the many worlds there are in the game, but does provide a challenge.

Level Number Level Name Level Description Number of Fruit
4 Gusty Dusty Cave Gusty Dusty Cave is the fourth level in the game, and the first level in the Under Realm. In this level, Pac Man must travel through the cave while jumping on platforms that tumble into the giant abyss below the second you even grab the edges. There are large chunks of crystals that drop and shatter their sharp remains which can hurt. In some sections, there will be doors which need two special crystal keys to unlock and geysers which can shoot the player up to higher places. This level also brings back the Chrome Pellet power up, now more useful as there are more hazards to be immune to. New enemies appear such as the spider enemies which formed long web-like bridges that can be walked on.

Boulder Alley is the fifth level in the game, and the second level in the Under Realm. In this level, the main obstacles are boulders that will fall and roll over you, while having the risk of pushing you into the giant death pit. In one segment Pac Man comes across a huge drill machine used for mining. The player needs to collect 4 different colored wires to turn on the conveyor belt that leads to the control room which holds the switch to turning on the drill which creates a gold-filled tunnel to the rest of the level.

6 Minecart Marathon

Minecart Marathon is the sixth level in the game, and the third level in the Under Realm. The main gimmick of this level is that Pac Man can ride inside a minecart to get around the level. Grant will be also operating platforms closer to you to land on. The railroad tracks aren't safe as many obstacles stand in the way such as barricades, falling crystals, unstable rails, and ghosts dropping bombs on the track while riding in minecarts. There will be one segment in the stage where Pac-Man's minecart drops onto a large freight train where the player makes their way to the head of the train while battling enemy swarms and avoiding obstacles before hopping onto a runaway minecart. Near the end of the level, Pac Man will accidentally wake up a swarm of bats lead by one huge bat and will give chase on the rails while shooting soundwaves.

World 3: Snow Realm (Silver Glacier)

"After making it through the underground, things get too chilly for Pac Man as he must trek the frozen lands of the Snow Realm, the Silver Glacier. Many icy obstacles await as you hop on to floating ice floes, avalanches waiting to bury you in snow, and a lot of slippery surfaces. Warning, do not swim in the water unless you want to become a Pacsicle."

Silver Glacier is the third world in Pac-Man Rift to Realms. It takes place inside a winter wonderland frozen over by many sheets of ice. Many obstacles like icy surfaces, strong wind and more enemies will hinder you on your quest. Some parts wll have you jumping from icy platforms from the outside while on the inside, you have to keep on your toes when you end up slipping and sliding. The last level also has a gimmick where Pac Man must scale down a huge drop while riding on a snowboard. The three levels that can be played here are Shiver River, Diamond Depths, and Shredded Summit. This world is the last easiest out of the many worlds there are in the game and shows signs of increased difficulty.

Level Number Level Name Level Description Number of Fruit
7 Shiver River

Shiver River is the seventh level in Pac Man Rift to Realms and the first level in the Snow Realm. The main part of the level is the long nearly frozen river that Pac Man must pass to progress towards the goal. Stepping on the ice will make Pac Man slide downward while Butt Bouncing makes him slip, rendering him unable to move for a moment. In the river are holes with water that is so cold, it'll freeze Pac Man in a block of ice which also counts as a life loss. There are floating ice floes in the water that can be used as platforms to avoid the water or try a risky shortcut and Rev Roll on the ice for boosted momentum. Enemies try to stop you of course including the dangerous Rev Roll Rams which will not stop attacking until you're dead and Jumping Fish which hop in and out of the waters you cross. In some parts huge snowballs will roll down the path.

8 Diamond Depths

Diamond Depths is the eighth level in Pac Man Rift to Realms and the second level in Snow Realm. Unlike the first level, the second one takes almost entirely in an ice cave with lots of pitfalls and stalactites. Most of the level is slippery, so it's best to proceed with caution on the parts that aren't so icy. Two power ups can be found on the stage, one being the Bowling Pellet makes it's debut as it is used to knock down large ice pillars to cross large pools of freezing water and the other being the Dragon Pellet which is used for lighting up torches in the darkest parts of the cave and melt frozen switches while navigating above platforms. Fuyu will be assisting you by creating tall ice columns to climb to higher places when there's a dead end. There is a section where Pac Man needs to find three stacks of dynamite and press a switch inside a giant icicle to make it fall down to the next part of the stage. The last part of the stage has the player falling through thin ice and climbing the walls as freezing water fills up the pit you're in.

9 Shredded Summit

Shredded Summit is the ninth level in Pac Man Rift to Realms and the third level in the Snow Realm. What's unique to this level is that the whole stage has Pac Man riding down the mountain on a snowboard. The level takes place entirely downhill as Pac Man must dodge whatever is thrown at him including avalanches, whiteout sections, and ghosts trying to stop him while riding on snowmobiles and skis. Tunnels limit your movement a little and also has stalactites and pools of freezing water inside. There are snow bridges which can be destroyed with a Butt Bounce and  crates suspended in midair from balloons which can be opened with the Flip Kick. This level is a nightmare for 100 percenters because the level involves going down fast as they have to keep up with items and if they miss a few or even one item, they'll have to lose a life.

World 4: Desert Realm (Rubble Labyrinth)

"From the freezing cold climate of the Snowland Realm, to the scorching sands of the Desert Realm, the setting of Rubble Labyrinth. It is a sandy desert landscape crawling with hazards. Watch out for the many quicksand traps that lay on this arid wasteland. If you get caught in one, don't bother escaping. There are plenty of ruins that make up mazes that'll get you lost. "

Rubble Labyrinth is the fourth world of Pac-Man Rift to Realms, coming after Silver Glacier and before Chrome Industries. This is the first world in the game to have a difficulty spike as the levels in this world have gotten a bit harder than the first three worlds. Rubble Labyrinth takes place in a rather large desert with tougher enemies and obstacles. One of them being the many abundance of quicksand pits that is hard to escape, but is possibly by jumping rapidly. This world is also the first world that involves backtracking because of some puzzles needing to be solved to advance. There are sand slopes that will drop off Pac Man in either the correct path or something that isn't that. The levels available in this world are Sand and Yellow, Shifting Sandstones, and Pyramid Peril.

Level Number Level Name Level Description Number of Fruits
10 Sand and Yellow

Sand and Yellow is the tenth level in Pac-Man Rift to Realms and the first level in the Desert Realm. It involves Pac Man jumping on platforms suspended above instant death quicksand. Platforms made entirely of sand will desintigrate when landed on. There will be hills of flowing sand that will try and slow down the player. and bridges made up of fossils and bones. The title of the level is a reference to the song title, Black and Yellow made by Wiz Khalifa.

World 5: Factory Realm (Chrome Industries)

"Inside the metallic mania that is the Factory Realm, it's a trap with death written all over it. This world will leave you confused as many of the giant sized machinery stay's on 24/7 powering and constructing some kind of device. From jumping on gears, to switching walls, Chrome Industries tends to keep you out of business, and plans you to stay that way."

Chrome Industries is the fifth world of Pac-Man Rift to Realms. Chrome Industries throws another difficulty soike that tends to mess up many players pretty badly. The levels here have gotten a bit harder than the levels in Rubble Labyrinth. Like the name, Chrome Industries takes place inside a giant factory filled with gizmos and gadgets that can help you advance while also trying to kill Pac Man. Some of these include giant sized gears and cogs, compressors that can outright kill Pac Man unless he's under the Chrome Pellet's effect, and platforming above acid pits. The levels played are Heavy Metal, Grinding Gears, and Steel Paradise.

Level Number Level Name Level Description Number of Fruit
13 Heavy Metal

Heavy Metal is the thirteenth level in Pac-Man Rift to Realms and the first level in the Factory Realm. Many types of machinery counts as hazards such as piston platforms moving up and down and red hot pipes that will let out heated steam. Conveyor belts will also get in the way as they move you towards the wrong direction, but their direction can be changed with a press of a switch. Giant hammers will appear on parts of the stage and will continuously slam on the ground really fast which can instantly kill Pac Man. The only way to get past them is if Pac-Man uses the Time Pellet and slows them down or stops them completely at the right moment. Debris will constantly rain from the air and will cause damage if you're unfortunate to get hit, though shadows on the ground will signify that debris will land on that spot.

Gears are all over the place as they spin around and can possibly crush the player if not careful. There are few sections with elevators that transfer Pac Man to the next area while being swarmed by enemies. There are sections where the player navigates on a pipe-suspended bridge as giant fans will turn on and off as they blow wind, pushing you off course. There's are two segments where three switches are located in an area surrounded by green toxic sludge that kills Pac-Man upon contact unless he has the Chrom Pellet on him. In these segments, their are barrels that float in the sludge that can be used as temporary platforms before sinking.

The toxic sludge returns while hydralic press machines are introduced and can kill you in one crush, though the Chrome Pellet will stop the damage. Some of the spinning gear platforms are either giant sized or are unstable and fall off once standed on, so keep on your toes. Nut shaped platforms work like the Rev Roll platforms and the pipe platforms are very narrow and easy to fall off. The title of the level is also a reference to the song Gangster's Paradise by Coolio.

Digitopolis is the sixth world of Pac-Man Rift to Realms. Digitopolis has the same difficulty as Chrome Industries as the levels here have different obstacles and traps. Digitopolis takes place inside of a weird cyberspace-like world and has obstacles related to technology. Some of these include electric wires, laser shooting webcams, and platform creating printers. The levels played are Cyber Chase, Maelstrom Matrix, and Techno Trouble.

"If you enjoyed the heated sands of the Desert Realm, or not, you'd be interested in the boiled depths of Melty Mountain, the center of the ever erupting Volcano Realm. Here, things get too heated for Pac Man as without protection by the Chrome Pellet could spell doom. Besides lava being everywhere, there are sinking platforms, raining volcano rocks, steam geysers, and lava-propelled platforms that has danger written all over it."

Melty Mountain is the seventh world of Pac-Man Rift to Realms. As it is called the Volcano Realm, Melty Mountain has lava everywhere which can burn Pac Man, instantly killing him regardless of how much health is left. The only way to survive it is by using the Chrome Pellet which provides protection to lava, but will cause Pac Man to sink in it like lava and can still be killed. There are platforms that will fall over once grabbed or landed on, so it's best to get on and get off. The playable levels in this world are Cauldron Valley, Roasted Run, and Magma Madness.

Orange Plateau is the eighth world of Pac-Man Rift to Realms. This time, the setting is in a high mountain-like canyon as it is suspended above the ground. This realm is slightly more open than the past realms, meaning there's more room to walk around. There aren't much mechanics or gimmicks in the Canyon Realm, but it does make heavy use of the B-Doings as they help you get across. The levels playable in this world are Canyon Climb, Giant Gorge, and Perilous Cliffs.

There are several flying platforms that are called Helivators that rise into the air as long as Pac-Man rev-rolls on it. There are multiple rope pulleys to grab on to get to higher ground and cross over large chasms while there are large slopes that are too steep to walk on. There are narrow cliffs that only can be cross by shimmying on the ledges while avoiding falling rocks. There are floating trampoline platforms called B-Doings that bounce you high in the air upon using a Butt Bounce (red bounces high, blue bounces the highest, arrow bounces in direction).

Besides that, he also explores shipwrecks while other ships in the background bombard you with cannonballs. There are special platforms that only activate when lightning strikes them, making them dangerous to stay on while there is a section where the player needs to ride on a stone snake statue and raise the water level to reach the exit, however the room has a special effect that keeps Pac Man in his chrome form for as long as he's in the section, making him vulnerable to sinking in the water towards the abyss. B-Doings return and are essential for getting around stages while some platforms are inthe form of leaves which don't last very long. It's also uncommon to fall off since there is a huge bottomless pit down below. Poison also exists in this world and can kill Pac Man if he steps in it without the Chrome Pellet. Starry Colony is the thirteenth and the penultimate world in Pac-Man Rift to Realms. The theme of this world is in outer space as it is surrounded by stars and planets. The Galaxy Realm throws a difficulty spike and this time, it doesn't hold back on the players as they had made it this far and attempts to give them a real challenge. Outside of the moon planet is a crystal-like maze planet which can be tricky to manuver around since there are some traps to be wary and that there is a black hole in the center which instantly kills Pac Man if he is sucked inside it. Back on the moon planet, there's a cave section with lave and Stoney enemies who spit fireballs at Pac Man; only if Pac Man is under the effects of the Chrome Pellet can defeat them. There's a section where Pac Man traverses on a path orbiting a Sun-like planet which can harm Pac Man with it's jumping fire balls. The main gimmick of the stage is the shifting of gravity's direction. There will be buttons/switches that caused Pac Man to walk on walls and even ceilings. He needs to be careful as some buttons/switches could send him flying out of the dreadnought and into deep space. Besides the gravity gimmick, there are lasers that block paths, electrical fences that electrocute when touched, floating pillars with gravity changes, paths that materialize when walked upon, jet burners that burn Pac Man alive, vault doors that can be only opened if you have the required fruit, dark rooms that require the help of a Pyro or Flash Pellet, and enemy fire in the form of cannonballs. "The Ghostly Realm is a world not where to be messing around. The scaryness levels are dialed up to eleven as creepiness is all over it. Nonetheless, Pac Man finally arrives and must navigate through Spectra's base of operations as the whole world and everything in it, including his family, is at stake. This will be no easy task as this world offers plenty of obstacles and hazards such as wavey paths, instakill swamp water, and what Pac Man is known for, mazes"

Spooky Hollow is the fourteenth and final world of Pac-Man Rift to Realms. This world's theme is haunted themed and is filled with many of Spectra's spooky trials as she pulls out her baddest obstacles to prevent Pac Man on advancing forward. This is also the only world which has five levels. Obstacles that are set up in the Ghostly Realm are fake platforms, demanding jumps, and splitting paths. The five levels available in this world are Pier Pressure, Galleon Ghouls, Mystic Maze, Haunty Heights, and Creepy Corridor.

Level Number Level Name Level Description Number of Fruits
41 Pier Pressure Pier Pressure is the fourty-first level in Pac-Man: Rift to Realms and the first level in the Ghostly Realm. For the whole level, Pac Man has a pair of roller skates that make him go faster, allowing him to jump farther while giving him less traction. The player skates across a whole fleet of boardwalks while avoiding the grimy waters below the piers which results in a life loss if Pac-Man falls in it. However, at a couple of sections, pieces of the boardwalk will give in and sink into the water, making the level more dangerous, forcing the player to keep up the pace as Pac Man skates towards the entrance of Spectra's private quarters.

Galleon Ghouls is the fourty-second level of Pac Man Rift to Realms and the second level in the Ghostly Realm. The level takes place above a misty ocean with abandoned and worn-out ships as the stage. The ghosts are dressed as pirates and shoot corks from their guns instead of devils as it is raining on the stage. Cannons shoot from afar on other shipwrecks as the waves tilt the ships back and forth. A couple of sections take place inside the ship, some parts are walkable while the rest is submerged unerwater. When Pac Man is underwater, he needs to keep an eye out for whirlpools as they'll suck him in and he'll lose a life. A maze of broken ship parts awaits players at the end.

Without a way in, Pac Man's next option is to hop inside a well that leads into a creepy black and purple colored pocket dimension with a twisted labyrinth inside. Pac Man does what he knows best and treks through the mysterious level while finding the right path and avoiding and defeating enemies while there are fruit chests that have to be opened due to them having B-Doings inside them. Obstacles includes droplets of matter that causes platforms to reappear and disappear and slides where ghost-like boulders roll alongside you with poles that can be grabbed on to, but some are unstable and will break off. When Pac-Man uses the last Pac-Dot Chain in the level, he gets sent to a disappearing maze with multiple networks of pathways that leads to the end of the level.

After escaping the twisted maze from the previous level, Pac Man must scale up the castle walls and spooky structures to get inside. This is no easy task as Pac Man has obstacles to go through such as a large hedge maze filled with ghosts, platforms that only appear when light is flashed on them, coffin platforms, and fake platforms that look a little more transparent than the real ones. The final segment involves Pac Man climbing up a clock tower and jumping on gears, swinging pendulums, pistons, and clock arrows to get to the end. Bells will swing between platforms and will interupt your Rev Roll if rammed into. At the end of the level awaits the final mini boss of the game, the Ghastly Guardian

45 Creepy Corridor Creepy Corridor is the fourty-fifth and final level in Pac Man RIft to Realms and the fifth level in the Ghostly Realm. This is also the longest level in the game as it offers a plethora of obstacles in the form of a gauntlet. The first few obstacles that stand in your way include vanishing platforms, floating furniture, twisting rooms with holes, and wavey paths. The minecart sections from the Under Realm return and this time they run through a tunnel into a massive cave where Pac Man jumps onto other runaway minecarts to avoid hitting dead ends. The minecart section leads to an underwater sewer system which lead to more obstacles including invisible paths, a skeleton statue that moves the platforms it's holding, statues that blow fire, and a very dark maze with dangers of falling off without a light source. There will be a segment where Spectra sends hordes of enemys at Pac Man and he must defeat them all before the timer runs out (instant death). The final wave of hazards awaits in the form of a gargantuan trap-filled maze, two hazardous towers with more enemies, and upside down switches causing Pac Man to walk on walls, ceilings, and even rolling down the surface of a tall tower while avoiding flying into the 'upside-down bottomless pit'.

World 15: Heaven Realm (Dimension Colosseum)

"A mysterious realm like no other. Though it seems familiar to the others. In fact, you'll see a lot of things that have been in previously visited realms...except the part where the difficulty shines. Pac Man must pull every trick in the book if he wants to survive in this mystical gauntlet of doom"

Dimension Colosseum is the fifthteenth and is the extra world of Pac-Man Rift to Realms. This world takes place in a cloud-like environment with floating islands with colosseum ruins around, similar to the Sky Realm. What makes it different to that is that rather than having it's levels themed from the world, the Heaven Realm takes each of the themes from previous worlds (with the technical exception for the Dream Realm) and forges very difficult levels based off them. This world is unlockable and can only be playable if the player has beaten the game and if they had collected all the Rascal Realm Gems. This also has the most levels in the game, beating the Ghostly Realm with 15 levels with the inclusion of a boss battle.

60 Victory Gauntlet

Victory Gauntlet is the sixtieth and the true final level in Pac Man Rift to Realms and the fifteenth level in the Heaven Realm. The level's theme returns to the same theme as the world. This is the hardest and the 2nd longest level in the game as it takes all the hardest obstacles and dangerous enemies and puts them together in the form of Pac Man's final challenge. This level is also the only unlockable level in the game as Pac Man will need to collect all the Rascal Realm Gems to play it. There are a total of ten sections, each filled with different hazards.

The first section has Pac Man jumping and running on long platforms that rotates while some platforms change directions in a set of time and some are crooked.

After stepping into the portal, the player enters section 2 where there platforms that disappear when walked on in the form of a maze and must get to the portal at the end as the glitchy clones of Pac Man from the Cyberspace Realm chase after you and copy everything you do.

In the third section, Pac Man must use the Spring Pellet to bounce up the large tower filled with enemies, twisting platforms, and sawblades, as well as dealing with the difficult mobility of Spring Pac.

Section 4 of the course involves the gravity shifting from the Galaxy Realm as Pac Man will enter red and blue areas that will either move him up or down while containing hazards such as electric fences, lasers, and the section itself as one wrong move could send Pac Man flying into the void.

The fifth section has floating platforms that resemble a bowling lane and has steel bowling pins on each of them which only Pac Man with the Bowling Pellet can smash through.

The sixth section is a minecart section similar to the ones in Minecart Mayhem from the Under Realm and Creepy Corridor from the Ghostly Realm, except much larger and more dangerous tracks such as corkscrews, loopdeloops, half pipes, and much steeper hills, all with the abundance of Bomb enemies and other minecarts rigged to explode.

The seventh section has Pac Man performing wall jumps on reversible walls that go in and out at a certain time and spin and jump off of bars without falling off.

The eighth section has spinning platforms with rings of fire constantly shrinking and growing while there is a section with floating water tubes Pac Man swims through while avoiding mines and underwater enemies.

The ninth section of the level has the player heading to segments of the section and beating a squad of enemies to advance starting from Wormy's, Spiders, Rev Roll Rams, Mummys, Robots, Cy-Bugs, Stoneys, Neander Pacs, Pac Urchins, Beetles, Ice Dragons, Purple Aliens, Cursed Armors and Ghosts.

The final section has a giant iron ball resembling a ghost that rolls around trying to crush Pac Man, but to beat it, he has to keep punching it until it's knocked off the arena. After that, a portal opens which leads to a pathway with all of Pac Man's family and friends cheering for him with a message to the player that says "Thank You!" as the Completion Portal is just up ahead.

They appear as an extra mode for completing levels in all levels, but not in boss battles.

The green colored ones are the Speedrun Realm Gems, in which Pac Man must complete a level within a time limit, usually up to 5 minutes or 30 seconds with stopwatch-like items around the course adding time when collected.

The red colored ones are the Terminal Realm Gems, which has Pac Man's health minimized to only one hit point, meaning that Pac Man will die of he is hit even once. All extra lives and health wedges are removed and the player will not recieve either when collecting 50 Pac Dots.

The yellow colored ones are the Rapid Realm Gems where all obstacles and enemies are sped up.

The blue colored ones are the Indigo Realm Gems where it makes Pac Man collect a certain amount of blue coins as he completes the stage. If any of these are failed to be completed, he has to do the level all over again.

Trivia

  • There were other plotlines that were considered to be the story. The following were considered before settling on a plot involving Pac-Man hopping through multiple worlds, dubbed Pac-Man: Rift to Realms...
    • Pac-Man: Spooky's Return; The Ghost Gang releases Spooky from his prison a second time and seeks revenge on Pac Man by sending him all the way across the planet in a forgotten land.
    • Pac-Man: Time Terrors; A mysterious villain gains the ability to travel through time and uses it to alter history, forcing Pac-Man to track down the mad man and save all of history.
    • Pac-Man: Violent Virus; The Ghost Witch creates a virus and spreads it across Pac-Land, turning it's inhabitants into ghosts, leaving Pac-Man to find her and reverse the sickness before Pac-Land becomes Ghost-Land.
    • Pac-Man Planet; A banished evil from both Pac-Land and Ghost Island recruits alien mercenaries and attacks Earth from an intergalactic space station superweapon and Pac-Man must travel to different planets to stop them.
    • An unknown title where the Ghost Gang would be the main characters and ends up finding Erwin planning his next scheme.
  • There were scrapped content that were planned to be in the game but were cut throughout the development.
    • One of them being three worlds being Ruins Realm (Rubble Ruins) and the Urban Realm (Neo City) and Mountain Realm (Cobblestone Peak); the second one being cut while the Ruins Realm became the Desert Realm and the Mountain Realm becoming the Canyon Realm.
      • The Urban Realm levels were planned to be Rooftop Rampage, Construction Chaos, and a car chase level called Highway Havoc. The boss was planned to be a nuclear waste monster brought to life by this world's Realm Gem.
    • There were also cut power ups like the Gravity Pellet and Frog Pellet. The former would have appeared exclusively in the Galaxy Realm as a use of moving objects aside and the Frog Pellet would have increased the height of Pac-Man's jump. The Frog Pellet found a different purpose and was reconsidered to be added back in the game, late in development while being a key power up in the Water Realm.
  • The games story takes inspiration from the plot of Pac Man World 2 and the Marvel film, Thor Ragnarok (as Spectra is supposed to be portraying Hela, the main antagonist). It also contains references to other movies and games.

  • The game contains many similarities to Pac-Man World 2 (it's main inspiration) along with other Pac-Man platformers and many platformer games made by other gaming companies.
    • Some of the levels are similar to few in PMW2, the first world levels with Greenleaf Grove, the third world levels with Silver Glacier, the fourth world levels (sans Volcanic Panic) with Melty Mountain, the second world levels (sans Butane Pain) with Overgrow Garden, and the last world with Spooky Hollow.
