NovaRoadRacers

Nova Road Racers is a community-led racing kart game with RPG elements. The project is meant to hold all kinds of content, whether it be original or from any other kind of medium. The project was spearheaded by Toroko for The V² and Nintendo Switch. The game features an class system, elemental strengths and weaknesses, and Spirits of various characters as equipment. At it's core though, it is still a racing game with tracks and characters being graded on four stats of Speed, Strength, Drift, and Boost. The game so far has been received well by editors and viewers alike.

Rules for Editing

  • At this time, the only additions that can be added are classes, characters, items, and tracks. Modes and equipment may be suggested in the comments.
    • All classes need to have stats that equalize to a neutral trade off, a description, and a name.
    • All characters need a total of 200 in stats as well as a starting blessed element. They also need a description and image.
    • All items need to have a description explaining their intended purpose and the rarity rates for each class. They also need a image.
    • All tracks need a image and description going over the course's obstacles and layout.
  • Every submission needs to reach a general quality standard- if it does not meet it, it will be flagged and removed if not improved.
  • Incomplete submissions may be removed if they are not worked on within two days.
  • The owner of this article is Exotoro (tbc). If the rules are changed by anyone else, they are to be reverted.

Documentation is available for most sections on the article. See "Characters" for how to work with the portrait code. There are additional information for editors for each section which tells you the vision for each section and the guidelines.

Gameplay

Basic Gameplay

Nova Road Racers on it's surface appears to be very similar to Mario Kart or other kart racers, and includes mechanics such as drift and boost. Drifting allows you to swerve the cart to help make turns and increase your speed, while boosting determines your acceleration and how fast you go when you ride across boost pads or other boosting mechanics.

Where Nova Road Racers stands out is it's RPG elements. Nova Road Racers allows you take on classes that can alter your gameplay, provides you with a health system, and introduces level and experience point mechanics.

Racer Classes

Racer Classes are a huge important part of Nova Road Racers and are a defining mechanic. Classes change how drift mechanics work on a per class basis- for instance, the Healer Class can heal by drifting and the Wizard class can restore mana by drifting- and alters the stats of a character further. All classes are available for all characters- and no character starts in a specific class, leaving it up to player's choice.

If a class stat maximizes one character's stat, that stat becomes maxed out and any further penalty stat will not be taken into account. Same goes for character stats that become zeroed as a result of penalty stats- they cannot gain extra points when a stat hits zero.

Classes also influence the vehicles that a character can ride as well as change their item pool to get a different set of items. While items can be shared between multiple classes, their percentage chance of showing up is different for each class.

Battle Damage

Each racer and their vehicle has 100 health and their defense against attacks depends largely on their strength stat, which also determines how powerful they are when they use items. While racers and their vehicles can shrug off even heavy attacks when at full health, it can cause them to spin out or need to re enter at a checkpoint if they take a hit too big for their health.

As such, some classes focus on fighting or defending as it can sometimes be the key to victory as opposed to being a speedy kart.

Evolved Racing

As you race, you can slowly gain experience points to level up and gain gear points that you can allocate to your stats to try and make up for your weaknesses. These gear points can be turned on or off in races and your level will determine the kind of opponents you find yourself up against in online play.

Modes

Multiplayer Racing

Multiplayer Racing is the free-play mode with up to 8 players, provided there at least four Nintendo Switch units (for 8 joycons). You can select any unlocked characters on any of the tracks of the cups unlocked and then race. There are options to go through multiple races on different tracks or race as teams. When selecting through this mode, you begin with the ruleset, track, and then characters. You can also switch items and the class system off if you want, but where's the fun in that?

Tournament Cups

Tournament Cups is basically the story mode for the game, allowing you to pick a character and level them up over the course of all the races in the game. You first complete tournament cups and then can go up against spirits who are imbued with special properties for additional challenges. While you can play this with friends, you cannot set up the conditions for each race. You can also collect treasures and quickly earn experience points to put into Gear Points for your character.

Battle Arena

Are you tired of being nice? Don't you want to go apeshit? In this mode, you are set in a arena fashioned after some of the tracks in the game and must quickly find items to use against your opponent to get their health down to zero so you can take a stock from them. You can set the amount of stocks they have and a handicap.

Classes

Base
Added by Exotoro

The base class is a class with no special functions of any kind, keeping the character's stats the same and making drift act as a speed boost when exiting out of it. They have no particular special items exclusive to them. Needless to say, if you think a character plays well without any boosts or stat bonuses required, this is the class for you.

Speedster
Added by Exotoro

Speedster is a class that focuses on well, speed, at the cost of everything else. Speedsters have access to speed boosting items as well as items that can mess with a opponent's speed. Speedsters loose strength and minor drift, but gain a lot of speed and a minor bit of boost.

Wizard
Added by Exotoro

Wizard is a strange class that gives a boost to drifting and uniquely has drift fill up the chances of picking up powerful items as opposed to a speed boost. A magic meter appears next to the speedometer and the more magic you have, the more likely you'll be able to pull better items from this class' selection of items, which mostly consist of magic objects.

Healer
Added by Exotoro

Healer maximizes their drift mechanic, which they use to heal both themselves and their team mates as opposed to a speed boost. They take a minor hit to speed and strength, as well as a decent hit to their boost. They mostly use healing or protective items such as shields and sprouts. Having one healer can be valuable to a party set-up or keep you on the road longer in more intense combat-heavy races.

Tricksters boost their drift primarily, which allows them to do a dodge dash after exiting it. This class is seen as great for newcomers due to it's invaluable use of dodge mechanics and it's general boosts to speed and drift, although it's cuts to strength and boost are seen as the weakness of this class.

Bard
Added by PabloDePablo

Bards are a technique-focused class good for supporting friends in team play or racking up stat boosts on your own. They don't gain any speed off their drifts, but for every 3 seconds spent in a drift, a Bard and all their teammates gain +1 point to their current lowest stat (choosing randomly if the lowest is equal between multiple stats). Their other stats are lacking, but stay drifting to take the lead.

Glitch
Added by IncarnateParanoia

Sometimes also called the "Disney President" class, the Glitch is a zippy trickster class that utilize their namesake ability to deal with enemies at close range. Located near a Glitch character's health is a Glitch Meter, a three-part meter that slowly fills with turquoise lightning. When one or more of the segments is full, honking will cause the character to briefly spasm before "glitching" in the direction the control stick is being held in. The character will be moving at the same speed and facing the same direction after glitching. Unlike Trickster's dodge, glitching doesn't have much invincibility to it, but tackling into enemies with a glitch can deal a decent amount of damage, and the dash can still be used to hop out of attacks' range altogether. Glitches' item selection favors speed boosters and unorthodox traps, and they exchange a hefty portion of strength for improved racing ability overall.

Shadow Self
Added by IncarnateParanoia

The true self. The Shadow Self is presented as bizarre from the very get-go in that all of its stats are lowered, and its item selection is bizarrely well-balanced. Its main claim to fame is its SP - a stat displayed near a Shadow Self character's health, which can be any number between 0 and 50 (or 0 and 100 if the player is at less than 25 health). Drifting, taking damage, and hitting enemies with items will increase SP. Honking while their SP is greater than 0 will cause the character to enter the Shadow Rampage state. While in Shadow Rampage, their SP slowly drains, their stats increase by an amount equal to the amount of SP drained this way, they cannot pick up any new items, and any items they're already holding can be used without expending them in exchange for a chunk of SP. Once the character's SP reaches zero, they exit Shadow Rampage and their stats return to normal.

Stand User
Added by El Guac

A truly bizarre class, Stand User has somewhat foggy applications. Is the racer a Stand User temporarily? Is the car they are in possessed by a Stand? Who cares! It still works! This class slightly increases speed and strength, and introduces a new meter, Stand Power. This meter fills up periodically when drifting or hitting others, and will slightly decrease when being hit. When it fills up completely, a flurry of punches appears from the vehicle, this will damage any nearby racers, and will protect the racer from items. Lasts about 15 seconds. Has increased chances of getting the Stand Arrow item.

EXtreme
Added by Samtendo

Usually, EX Energy isn't something to use on non-sentient machinery because of potential instability. Thankfully, a smaller dose can work on them, including racing vehicles, as long as the racer don't go overboard. Having only Strength improved and the other stats reduced sounds impractical, right? The big news is that not only it have a much higher chance of getting light-based items, but it also makes the common items to become considerably stronger if the player is at 4th place or lower, but makes stronger items even rarer if the user is at 1st place. It also inverse the effectiveness for the Light Blessing; Light Blessing with an EXtreme class become strong against the Dark Blessing, but to balance this, it also become weak to the Air Blessing.

Geno is a Star Spirit that inhabited a doll to aid Mario in his quest to retrieve the Star Pieces in Super Mario RPG. His true form far exceeds his physical form, but in order to manifest and aid heroes, he needs a physical form in our world. In Nova Road Racers, he acts as sort of the main character of sorts- being the box art character and the story focusing on him as he races with allies to recover the Star Pieces, which are being scattered as prizes across the various cups.

Her closest friend in this new, bustling downtown environment is Sid Chang, who seems to have just as strong of a rebellious spirit as she does. Ronnie Anne keeps in touch with Lincoln Loud, another very close friend of hers from Royal Woods, and it is implied that they are currently in a long-distance relationship, despite their consistent denial of it around others. Meta Knight is a character incredibly reliant on both speed and drifting; his turning radius is actually less than most racers, letting him effectively drift while moving directly forward. This comes at the cost of having to turn more sharply to make corners, however, and while he's very fast, he can't really use boost to enhance that speed in any way. Make every drift count!

Sometimes this guise falls apart around her partner 9S, especially later on in NieR: Automata where their bond deepens. Nitros Oxide
Added by El Guac

An alien hailing from the planet Gasmoxia, Nitros Oxide calls himself the fastest racer in the galaxy, and travels through the stars to test his skills. When he finds a planet, he plays a little game he calls "Survival of the Fastest", on which he challenges the planet's fastest racer on a 1-to-1 race. If the former wins, Oxide will leave the planet alone and peaceful, but if Oxide wins, he will turn it into a concrete parking lot and make the inhabitants his minions. Arrogant and competitive, Oxide will never back down from a racing challenge. Nitros Oxide has semi-balanced stats, good for beginner players. However, his speed and boost are somewhat higher than his strength and drift.

Along with his malfunctioning robot assistant GIR, Zim seeks to infiltrate the Earth and uncover its defenses, while also keeping his alien identity secret and fighting with Dib Membrane. Added by Exotoro

Spirits are items you can equip up to three of onto a vehicle, which each can influence your vehicle such as giving you access to a item or increasing your stats or attacks in a different way from stats. Each spirit is collected from defeating possessed racers, who take on the qualities of their ghostly possessors. Once defeated in a race, you are able to equip them to your character. A section for Spirits is coming soon.

Spirits

Spirits come in two varieties although both have the same function and act more or less identically. You have your Support Spirits who puppeteer other racers with conditions and status effects slapped onto them to resemble their original works, and then Racer Spirits which are souped up, prime versions of the original racer character who have abilities similar to their source material. Support Spirits are found as part of revisiting old cups in Spirit Rally, while Racer Spirits are collected after defeating the Prime Challenge for each character on the roster.

Support Spirits generally contain a bunch of generic special abilities whereas Racer Spirits are incredibly hard races against Spirits that play to characters strengths while also having a special ability unique to them. Racer Spirits can still be equipped like normal Support Spirits but the difference is only one Racer Spirit can be attached to a character at a time.

Konga Beat is Donkey Kong's special ability. He can only use it once in a race, where he will pull out a pair of bongos and begin beating on them. This causes sound waves to appear around him, covering a large radius, covering all of the road around him in most cases, spinning out any drivers he hits and dealing a significant amount of damage. The sound waves can also disable incoming items and even grant him a speed boost, albeit tiny. He continues beating on the bongos for 10 seconds before they disappear. Donkey Kong will beat on the bongos to the rhythm of the course's music, though this has no effect on gameplay.

Athame allows Kronya to counterattack projectile or ranged attacks by throwing her dagger before the projectile can hurt her so long as the opponent has less than 100 health. This is harder to do at the start of a race, but there are methods to deal damage before the race even begins thanks to Duma's Upheaval. It is also very situational and while it allows Kronya to damage foes attempting to hit her, she can't do anything about melee attacks.

Mario Circuit is your standard eight-shaped course with two basic hazards- the Goombas that appear towards the first part of the track that can spin out racers if they bump into them without disposing them using items and the Chain Chomp near the ramp that is towards the center of the map. Since this course is meant to be the beginner's course, it has a distinct lack of real obstacles. Since it is primarily based off the Mario Kart Wii version of Mario Circuit, you can see Peach's Castle at the start of the race.

Dragon's Table
Added by Exotoro

The Dragon's Table was where Naga had sealed the degenerated Earth Dragons and other bloodthirsty dragons away after her and the other Divine Dragons had defeated them a war to defend humanity. To create a seal that would last, Naga forged the Binding Shield using one of her fangs and reinforced it's power with orb-like gemstones. It was later transformed into an altar to the Fell Dragon Grima.

The track takes place inside the Dragon's Table, which takes the form of a mostly U-shaped track with a small loop connecting the two ends. There are no traditional obstacles- instead, the player can gather orbs that go into the Binding Shield and can steal orbs from other players by bumping into them. If a player collects all five orbs, they gain the Binding Shield, which rotates around the player to protect them against all damage for 30 seconds before the orbs split apart across the track again.

The Mila Tree is a twisting track that takes place going up the tree and then onto a semi-circle track that then continues down the tree before looping back again. The obstacles in this stage are Cervantes and his army, who throw axes and chuck spears at ongoing vehicles. They appear at the bottom of the tree, which is mostly covered in water save for the roots which make up most of the track. By firing items at Cervantes, you can temporarily remove him and his army for 45 seconds before they return.

Star Road is the final track of the Milky Way Cup, taking place high in the clouds on a giant star-shaped track. Star Road features no railings of any kind on one side, which means you can be bumped off the track and may fall down and need to be picked back up. There aren't any real obstacles here, but the track can be hard, especially if people are attempting to bump you off. Completing this track will you show you the top three racers and if you're the number racer, you'll get the Light Blue Star Piece and unlock the next cup: the Andromeda Cup! Duma will also be unlocked.

Tokyo-3
Added by Exotoro

Tokyo-3 is the first track of the Andromeda Cup, being based off the city seen in Neon Genesis Evangelion. The track begins on the cityscape itself, which begins normally in the empty streets before it is suddenly attacked by Ramiel, which attacks with light rays that penetrate racers with under 80 in strength and causes them to spin out and lose a lot of health. You will have to make yourself to the NERV headquarters, which will lead you downwards to the giant base below, which features trees and an artificial lake. There, you can spot Evangelion Unit 02 heading towards the surface, with you making a loop back through the city. Lap 2 is actually a different route that sees you go through an alternate route as Evangelion Unit 02 attempts to fight Ramiel. Evangelion Unit 02 appears to be losing the battle when Evangelion Unit 01, in Berserk mode, rips open Ramiel's AT Field and rips open it's "skin" with it's fingers, causing Ramiel to collapse into the streets and the track leads you back down to NERV headquarters, where you will loop back again for a third lap where no obstacles appear this time and you can take either route through Tokyo-3.

Space-Hub Hubbub is the third course of Outer Orbit in Yoshi's Crafted World. As the name suggests, it takes place in a space station, which Yoshi must navigate around. Small helper robots are also found, which help him by opening passageways or clearing enemies. However, sometimes an asteroid can hit the station, causing the robots to go haywire and act as hazards that can damage Yoshi.

Space-Hub Hubbub has a relatively simple layout, though there are few railings along the track and players can fall off if they aren't careful. The aforementioned robots can open shortcuts if the player takes a certain path, shaving off time. However, if an asteroid hits the station, indicated by the entire course glowing red and an alarm sounding, the robots will go haywire and run around the course, damaging any players they hit. They cannot open up passageways in this state. This will go on for a few seconds before the robots go back to normal.

Ground Zero

The third track of the Andromeda Cup is Ground Zero, based on the location of the same name from Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga. This is the location in which the events of the game begin - where the occupants of The Junkyard were all exposed to a mysterious power that gave them the ability to turn into demons, and where the amnesiac girl Sera appeared a short time later. From here, the towering Karma Temple found at The Junkyard's center can easily be seen in the distance.

Ground Zero's track is a very winding one that weaves in and out of the ruined buildings and even travelling under the earth at certain sections. Throughout the race, two of the factions battling for control of The Junkyard will be in the midst of a battle, and soldiers can be seen firing at each other from the rubble looming above the racetrack. At certain sections of the race, party members from Digital Devil Saga in their demonic forms will leap onto the battlefield and use their elemental powers to alter the terrain; Varna creates ice crystals that deal Water damage, Agni breathes flames onto the terrain to deal Fire damage, Vayu whips up cyclones that deal Wind damage, Prithivi hurls boulders with telekinetic power to deal Earth damage, and Dyaus calls bolts of electricity down from the sky to deal Light damage.

Spirit House
Added by Exotoro

The final track of the Andromeda Cup is the Spirit House from the music video Saturnz Barz, performed by the music band Gorillaz. The first lap of the track begins just outside the house, before the track itself visibly warps inside a decrepit looking house. As the race continues inside the house, spirits manifest and begin to spatially warp the house, twisting it in a labyrinth style where tight turns are required and weapons are needed to keep spirits that attempt to touch the vehicles at bay.

As you cross into the second lap, the house turns into asteroid field bound together by a spiritual road that rotates around a planet that lines up and shifts lines, patterns and colors not unlike the music video for Andromeda. As you cross into the final lap, the spirit house returns but is slowly closing in on the racers, almost like the effects from the first lap are playing in reverse. The finish line can be found by the road outside of the house, next to a highway.

Bramble Blast is the sixth level of Krem Quay in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest, taking place in the sky where several brambles are. In the level, Diddy Kong and Dixie Kong must traverse through with the use of Barrel Cannons, carefully timing their launch so they don't hit brambles or enemies. It is particularly notable for its music, Stickerbrush Symphony.

The course is made up of wooden planks held up by gigantic brambles. Brambles will also serve as railings, which will cause drivers to spin out on hit. Because of the wooden planks each having different shapes and sizes, the course can be hard to drive on. Zingers also populate the course, and can often swoop in and spin drivers out.

Oil Drum Alley is the first level of Kremkroc Industries, Inc. in Donkey Kong Country. In this level, Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong must traverse through a factory, a stark deviation from the natural environments they have ventured through previously. It is notable for having a lot of Oil Drums, which spew fire that must be dodged.

Oil Drum Alley has a straightforward layout, though there are some sharp 90-degree turns. Some of these turns also lack railings, so one must be careful. The only obstacles are Oil Drums, which are either on the track that serve as walls or in small pits in the track that serve as road. The latter can occasionally spew fire, which must be dodged lest the drivers get burnt.

LowGLabyrinth
Low-G Labyrinth
Added by Pokerninja2

Low-G Labyrinth is the fifth level of Mekanos in Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!. In this level, Dixie Kong and Kiddy Kong navigate through a sewer pipeline. As the name suggests, the pipeline is filled with peculiar green gas, which lowers the gravity. This allows the Kongs to jump higher, but they are slower and much floatier as a result.

Low-G Labyrinth has no pits that drivers can fall into, with the entire course being encased in pipes. There are ramps that can be used to jump off of, as well as alternate pathways that lead to different parts of the course. The green gas that fills these pipes allow the drivers to leap higher when they jump off of ramps. Bumping into drivers or hitting them with items also causes them to bounce a little. Outside of the gas, Buzzes are the only obstacles, which fly back and forth or up and down, and spin out drivers that touch them.

Gang-Plank Galleon
Added by Pokerninja2

Gang-Plank Galleon is the final level of Donkey Kong Country, where Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong must duel against King K. Rool to reclaim their Banana Hoard. However, it also serves as the first world in Donkey Kong County 2: Diddy's Kong Quest, where Diddy Kong and Dixie Kong must navigate through multiple parts of the ship, including the deck, the interior, and the masts.

Gang-Plank Galleon's layout is rather simple, with racers driving around the ship's deck, with the second half taking place in the interior. However, there are also several obstacles that can hinder drivers, the most prominent of which being Kannonballs that fall from the sky randomly and crushing anyone they land on. Klaptraps will also walk around the ship's deck, snapping their jaws and spinning out any players hit by them. In the ship's interior, Lockjaws can leap out of the water to try and bite players. Lastly, within the ship's interior lies King Kut-Out from Donkey Kong 64, which will "shoot" Kannonballs (which are held up by strings and are dragged across the track) to spin out drivers.

The Maw is a multi-levelled track that takes place across the various major areas of the Little Nightmares setting, the race track is in a clover shape that gradually rises up from the ship's lowest level to the highest level with each branch of the clover being one of the four major areas; The Lair, the Kitchen, the Guest Area and The Lady's Quarters, getting to the top of the clover track the track falls straight down to the bottom again.

The main obstacles vary with each clover leaf, in the Lair the racers will need to evade the Janitor's long arms, while in the Kitchen they'll have to contend with the giant pieces of food and the Twin Chefs stumbling around, in the Guest Area the track can shift dramatically due to the presence of the massive guests and in the Lady's Quarters the racers will need to evade the Lady who turns up from time to time, there are several shortcuts in the form of mirrors which take the racer through a silent area of the racetrack separate from the rest, these areas always have the Lady patrolling them and are a case of Risk vs. Reward.

Rapture
Rapture
Added by S. Inferno

Rapture is a linear circuit racetrack that is comprised on one singular track, the track starts at the Lighthouse and travels through various locations in Rapture including Neptune's Bounty, Arcadia, Fort Frolic, Hephaestus, Olympus Heights, Point Prometheus, Fontaine, The Adonis Baths, Ryan Amusements, Siren Alley, Pauper's Drop Market & Outer Persephone. The race track contains many non-linear sections within it as the racers can choose a variety of paths to take with some of the segments listed above being counterparts to one another meaning the player only needs to choose one or the other. The track can generally be split up into three segments defined by the presence of certain obstacles, the first third; Lighthouse, Neptune's Bounty, Arcadia/Fort Frolic & Hephaestus sees the racers contending with standard Splicers, in Fort Frolic the racers may encounter Sander Cohen in which case Splicers will swarm the racers.

The second chunk of the race track is Olympus Heights, Point Prometheus & Fontaine, here racers will need contend with Rosie & Bouncer Big Daddies, as well as Splicers although in-fighting can occur between the groups of obstacles. The race track also requires the racers to drive by Frank Fontaine who'll attack the racers with Fire, Ice and Electrical shockwaves which travel along the ground. The last segment of the track is comprised of The Adonis Baths/Ryan Amusements, Siren Alley/Pauper's Drop Market & Outer Persephone and sees the racers almost exclusively dealing with Big Daddies (in this instance Rumblers and Lancers) and very rarely Big Sisters, the latter of whom will attempt to jump onto player's vehicles and cause them to crash.

SHHS
Silent Hill Historical Society
Added by S. Inferno

The Silent Hill Historical Society is a location in Silent Hill that acts as the third track to the Nightmare Cup, it is a two lap course that goes through the various major sections of Historical Society. The track also pulls from other Silent Hill Games as when the racer in first completes their first lap the sirens can be heard and the Historical Society changes into an Otherworld version. The race track has the racers heading through the initial long staircase down, once they reach the bottom the stairwell they'll find themselves in a labyrinthine sewer which is inhabited by Lying Figures that will lunge at the racers to try and hit them. The labyrinth actually has multiple holes the racers need to fall into, each hole leads to the Toluca Prison which makes up the second part of the course although each hole will eventually lead back to the main course.

The Toluca Prison has Lying Figures, Creepers & Mannequins and racers can see one another racing along the various different tracks in this area, tracks have a different frequency of the three monsters. Towards the end the racers enter the meat locker where they'll find Eddie dead lying against one of the Meat Carcasses, this area has Pyramid Head wandering around so racers need to stay out of the way as he can quickly deal heavy damage if he's able to land a hit. Eventually the racers find themselves at the other side of the Historical Society and race around the building for the second lap. In the second lap the enemy frequency increases and several traps appear throughout the course that can stall or damage the racers, in addition Flesh Lips now appear in some of the Toluca Prison segments while Mandarins appear in others, and the second Pyramid Head will spawn in the meat locker, it should be noted that if a racer is in the meat locker when this happens they can see the second Pyramid Head bust through one of the doors in the area.

Raccoon City
Raccoon City
Added by S. Inferno

The last track and by far the longest of the Nightmare Cup, Raccoon City is another one lap cup that's split up into areas, racers will find themselves visiting locations from Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 throughout the race track and thus the track can be split up into three segments. Obstacles in the track include Zombies and Zombie Dogs as well as periodically William Birkin turning up in his First (Downtown), Second (Police Station), Third (Umbrella Labs) and Fourth (Dead Factory) Stages to terrorize the players. In addition depending on the area of the city the racers will come across unique obstacles.

The first section of the race track involves Uptown, Downtown, the Tram System and the Clock Tower and has Giant Spiders, Hunter Betas & the Grave Digger appear along with the aforementioned obstacles in the previous paragraph, the racers need to reach the apex of the clock tower where they'll drive out of the clock tower which during the ascent is bombarded by missiles and head towards the Police Station. The second area contains the Police Station, Sewers and Umbrella Labs. Racers will encounter Lickers, G-Type Adults and Ivies as well as potentially the Giant Alligator and Giant Moth depending on which path they take in the sewers. All three of these areas for the second segment contain multiple interweaving paths that contain their own obstacles with the sewers being the most labyrinthine thanks to a turntable that can have racers head off in one of eight possible tracks. Similar to Resident Evil 2 this sequence concludes with the racers driving out of the thoroughly damaged Umbrella Labs through the train tunnel, leading to the final segment.

The last segment of this race track is the Hospital, Park and Dead Factory, the racers will need to head through the Hospital and escape through an underground tunnel connecting to the Park then traversing from the Park to the Dead Factory via the bridge, it should be noted that once half of the racers cross the bridge to the Dead Factory it will collapse forcing the other half of the racers to take the alternate route through the area. Unique enemies in this area include the Drain Demos & Brain Sucker as well as Nicholai who will turn up in his helicopter to fire on the racers.
