New Super Mario Bros: Switching it Up (NSMBSU) is a light reboot of the New Super Mario Bros. series. It is a collectathon and has 2 stories.

NSMBSU is major change from the previous 2D Mario games. One of the biggest changes is the change to 2.5D. Some enemies and bosses will attack Mario and Co. from the background. Another change is removal of a timer in most levels. NSMBSU is an colletathon so in order to encorage exploring the timer has left for the most part. Like Super Mario Bros. 2 each charcter has their own powers and stats. They also have their own switches and special coins. You can also switch between characters using a switch station. These are often found in areas where you need to switch characters, at check points and near boss rooms.

The levels in Mario's story have straight foreward sections that focus on getting to the goal pole.
