Miiverse (from "Mii" and "universe") was a Nintendo-focused social media network, created by Nintendo and Hatena, and powered by Nintendo Network. It allowed users to post text, screenshots, and drawings to the respective communities dedicated to games and other software.
Miiverse launched for Wii U in 2012, and Nintendo 3DS and web browsers in 2013. It did not launch for future console families, and was shut down in 2017 alongside Wii U Chat. Fans archived a majority of the Miiverse site's content.
Some games offered further Miiverse integration, such as the stamp feature in the original Wii U versions of Super Mario 3D World and Mario Kart 8. These features were retired or broken with Miiverse's discontinuation.
