Unlike his portrayal in ''Sonic Rivals 2'', 3.0 was given a personality, and his rivalry with the original Metal Sonic was expanded upon. Metal Sonic 3.0 is portrayed as an extremely rude, egotistical, and arrogant character who prides himself on being built with the latest technology, considering all outdated machinery to be utterly worthless and insignificant. As such, he has an obsessive rivalry with the original Metal Sonic. Despite suffering countless defeats at the hand of his counterpart numerous times, Metal Sonic 3.0 still believes himself to be the superior model.
