Luigi's Mansion 3 (provisional title) is a new game from the Luigi's Mansion trilogy and Luigi's Mansion - Dark Moon's ancestor released for the Nintendo 3DS in 2013 as part of the so-called "Luigi Year" which will be released for the Nintendo Switch in February Of 2018. It is being developed by Nintendo EAD and Next Level Games (the same one that made the second game).

A new addition that did not exist in the other trilogy games and is only available on the Nintendo Switch, is the fact that the player can control (optionally) the camera, and Polterguest 6000 (developed by Professor E. Gadd) at the same time with movements Of Joy-Cons, making Luigi move only the light from the flashlight to any side thus facilitating the gameplay, since this time the environments are much darker, the camera is closer to Luigi, and the only visible light is that of the flashlight Luigi when there is no light available nearby.

In addition to the completely dark environments and the camera located behind the Luigi, another differential not much used in Luigi's Mansion (for GameCube) and that will not lose the chance of being used in the Nintendo hybrid console is the game's graphics; In a trailer shown, you can see that the whole game will be one of the most used Switch hardware (aka Nvidia Tegra) graphically, behind The Legend of Zelda. A curiosity is that a rumor pointed out that Luigi's Mansion 3 "would have graphics of Toy Story", something that later was apparently confirmed in the trailer.

Another interesting factor is the environment in which the game is played. Unlike its predecessor, which had a lively and at the same time dark atmosphere, this back to be somber and mysterious, as well as the first GameCube game.

Unlike Luigi's Mansion - Dark Moon, Luigi's Mansion 3 focuses on the darkness and "psychological terror" suffered by Luigi as he crosses dark and ghoulish corridors, and is frightened by ghosts, followed by a strange set of sintilating lights emitted by ghosts, And incredibly realistic shadows. This time King Boo kidnaps Professor E. Gadd, who usually gives Luigi tips, and on learning the news, manages to take courage and go to the first mansion in the game, one of 28 mansions planned by Next Level Games. Luigi uses the incredible (and not tested) Polterguest 6000 and the already known Pixelator to teleport to other mansions. As he unleashes puzzles and mysteries from each mansion, using the new Trial Scream (Nintendo 3DS reference) he connects to Professor E. Gadd to find out what he is and if King Boo is spotting him. And of course, we can not forget the mansions and dangers that Luigi will have to run.

  • It was planned to leave for the Wii U, but due to the commercial failure of the console, was postponed to the Nintendo Switch.
  • It is more realistic than other games.
