Link (リンク, Link) is a veteran in Super Smash Bros. Universe, being one of the "Perfect Attendance Crew". He was confimed when the reveal trailer came out on the Nintendo Spotlight at E3 2017. He's apparace is a collective "mishmash" of all of his current appearances. He is once again voiced by Akira Sasanuma.
Like most of the veterans, Link hasn't changed much in his transition to the latest Smash Bros title. His animations have been changed to better match his animations in The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of the Wild. Some of his attacks have been altered as well.
Changes[]
- Link's appearance is more aligned to his Twilight Princess appearance, having a color scheme similar to his Ocarina of Time appearance.
- He now has an alternate costume which has him sport his Breath of the Wild default attire.
- Link now has two idle and running animations. Depending on what move he did before, he will either stand and walk/run with his sword and shield in hand, or without them. This references Breath of the Wild.
- Link's Jab now has a Rapid Jab that ends in a final thrust. A mix of his Melee jab and his SSB4 one.
- Dash Attack can now be jumped out of as Link is in the air during the jump slash animation.
- Link's arrows can now be Bomb Arrows. If Link is holding a bomb while performing Hero Bow, the bomb will stick to the arrow, causing it to be a more dangerous move.
- Gale Boomerang now traps the opponent and hits them repeatedly when returning back to Link.
- Link's tether grab can now cling to walls.
