Kirby: Dreamland Warriors is a Warriors-style game that involves players controlling a large roster of Kirby characters as they travel around giant maps and take down legions of soldiers. Initially, it's split up into 4 different stories, which sometimes run into each other, each involving players controlling one of four protagonists to take down one of four antagonists.

Story[]

The story is split up into four different stories, at first. Each having their own brief descriptors.

  • Kirby: It was a normal day in Dreamland, at least for a brief period. Though Kirby isn't really involved with Dedede's conquest, Meta Knight's quest, or Waddle Dee's defense, something else interests him. He was traveling around Dreamland, when he stumbled upon a mysterious drawing of himself. To his horror, the drawing began fighting, forcing him to attack. Soon, he began finding more drawings of people he knows, each being mean. Now, Kirby has to find out why this is happening, and put a stop to it. As he travels, he'll run into warriors that've aided him in adventure previously, from Ribbon, to Elline, to his animal friends, and so much more!
  • Meta Knight: Meta Knight was keeping watch over the kingdom, examining what horrors may be coming. When suddenly, he spies the knight of the mirror again, Dark Meta Knight. Dark Meta Knight's used his magic to form dark versions of other creatures, and appears to be forming an army of his own. Meta Knight realized letting him do whatever he wants isn't good. So, it's off to take care of them. During his battle against Dark Meta Knight, he encounters all sorts of secondary antagonists, from Taranza, to Susie, to Daroach, and more, and is even seen working with a few midbosses.
  • King Dedede: King Dedede was lounging around his kingdom one day, relaxing. However, as he relaxes, the mysterious Marx shows up, and speaks to him with the promise of a great power. He says that out there is a grand star that, upon which, he can wish to achieve whatever he dreams of. However, to summon it, he'll need the powers of a few planets. Tempted by this idea, Dedede sets out on a private mission, telling his guards that he has business elsewhere. As he travels, he gathers aid from many antagonists from Kirby history, from Marx, to Sectonia, to Haltmann, and even more.
  • Bandana Dee: Bandana Dee was left to look over the castle when King Dedede went out on "business elsewhere." However, almost a day after he leaves, chaos begins. Warriors from elsewhere are sending warriors after the castle, intent on taking Dreamland over. So, Dee must work up the courage to unite the forces of Dreamland against the external forces. During this story, Waddle Dee will receive assistance from many common enemies, from Comos, to Waddle Doos, to Poppy Bros, and so much more.

Kirby[]

Chapter 1: Green Greens[]

Kirby's sleeping, relaxing after who knows what. For a brief moment, he opens up his eyes. Then, his eyes shoot open as he realizes he sees another him. Curious, he hops up, and goes towards the other Kirby. As he approaches, the other Kirby's starting to look more and more like they're made of paint. He gets close, when the painted Kirby turns around, and smacks him away.

Upset, Kirby assumes a fighting stance. Then, suddenly, the painted Kirby whistles. Out from nowhere, multiple low-level Kirby enemies come out, each seeming to be made of paint. Kirby's intimidated by the size of the numbers, and is forced into his first fight on Green Greens. During the fight, Kirby hears the sound of a familiar hamster. Rick rolls in, having seen Kirby in trouble, and then decides to assist him, and players are given Rick as a playable character.

During the map, after wiping out many foes, Kirby and Rick are soon upon the painted Kirby. Soon, they beat it, causing it to begin to retreat. Kirby and Rick realize this thing and its paint army is just gonna cause more trouble, so they should go out and stop it.

Chapter 2: Lollipop Land[]

Kirby and Rick follow the Paint Kirby to wherever it's retreating, believing it'll lead them right to the source of the army. The Paint Kirby leads them right to Lollipop Land, the realm of Paintra. Kirby immediately suspects her of being responsible for this army, but she denis this assertion. However, she does reduce the Paint Kirby to mere drops of paint that she then absorbs.

Kirby's more confused, unsure of whether to trust her or not. However, that doesn't really matter, because Paintra decides she's going to make Kirby pay for annoying her. Though, an aside to herself reveals that she can't afford to let Kirby keep on this trail. So, Kirby does battle with the forces of paint and Paintra.

The fight is pretty tough, especially when the candy tanks are going out in all force and assaulting various Forts. Thankfully, Elline suddenly shows up, realizing Kirby's in town, and is in trouble. So, she uses her painting powers to mess up the tanks' paths, knocking them off course and disabling Paintra's tank assault. With Elline, they're all able to defeat Paintra.

There, she begins to retreat, flying at high speeds elsewhere. Kirby's sure they should probably leave her alone. But Elline declares that they need to teach that punk a lesson. So, with Elline tugging him along, the group begin chasing down Paintra's trail.

Chapter 3: Shiver Star[]

The group follows Paintra, who manages to flee from the planet, and onto the technologically advanced Shiver Star. They touch down, and find Paintra has landed upon a base full of machines. Paintra is rushing towards the middle of it, and the rest of the Kirby team follows after her. However, upon approaching, the robots seem to spark to life, the Haltmann symbol appearing in their lights as they flash on.

Then, they rush out and block the approaching heroes. Paintra is seen rushing into one of the forts, which shuts tightly. Elline says that Paintra's probably planning something big from that shack. She says that they should fight through these enemies as fast as possible! The player's tasked with beating through some of the forts and getting closer and closer to the fort Paintra's holed up in. Upon approaching, the shutter separating Kirby and gang from her opens up.

Out comes Metal General, heading a legion of robots. And in the middle of that crowd is Heavy Lobster. Elline seems worried, and says they need to be careful around it. The task is still to get into Paintra's fort, but the combination of Metal General's fast movements and Heavy Lobster's tank-like design is making it too hard to get past them. Meanwhile, an announcement comes on, threatening to destroy the base in 10 minutes. At that, the group starts to get fearful. They can't get past the enemy forces in nearly that much time!

A cutscene suddenly plays, showing the crew struggling with the metal forces. However, as they fight, some crystal shards suddenly fire the foes quickly, beginning to drive them back. And the source is revealed to be Ribbon, wielding the weapon used to defeat Zero 2. With her on their team, the crew's able to wear down the forces. Ribbon explains that this base's been remodeled. If they claim a pair of forts beside Paintra's, they'll be able to send a signal that gravely weakens the bots.

The group's tasked with claiming those as soon as possible, which greatly reduces the power of the enemy army. And with this, they're able to enter Paintra's base and claim it, though find that she's fled. Apparently, this base stored a device capable of flying off the planet. Apparently she's intent on playing keep away. Ribbon's able to find where the machine was pointed, and is able to direct the group.

Meta Knight[]

Chapter 1: Rainbow Route[]

Meta Knight lied back in the darkness, keeping an eye out for any and all issues. Unfortunately, it seemed an issue was coming. He spies him, another him, wandering through Dreamland. Suddenly, the other him slashes a Waddle Dee, forming three other Waddle Dees like a certain mirror inhabitant. The three other Waddle Dees follow Meta Knight, and they begin walking elsewhere, the first Waddle Dee stunned.

With that, Meta Knight takes flight, and zips after the new Meta Knight. As he flies after the other Meta Knight, but as he approaches, a Prank suddenly shows up and stops Meta Knight. Apparently it was told to mess with some real sourpuss, so he engages Meta Knight. And thus, players are thrust into their first fight on Rainbow Route.

During this map, after beating through a few foes, Daroach suddenly appears in one of Meta Knight's Forts, apparently scrounging up some collectibles. Upon reaching him, Meta Knight orders him to stand down and leave, but Daroach says he can aid the Knight. Cautiously, Meta Knight allows him to join. And, with their combined forces, the duo are able to defeat Prank, who, like a coward, begins to run away. With that, Daroach tries to go away, but Meta Knight says he hasn't paid off his debts yet.

And so, the two set out after the other Meta Knight's path.

Chapter 2: The Empyrean[]

Meta Knight and Daroach run after Dark Meta Knight, but their chasing soon leads them to a bizarre realm. A golden sunlight bathes the realm, large pillars topped with stars as well as rocks with gems on them lining the field. They're sure they're still on Dark Meta Knight's path, and continue deeper into the Empyrean. However, the dreadful dark knight suddenly appears when the duo find themselves in the middle of a valley in the field.

Dark Meta Knight pulls up a mirror, and declares that, unfortunately for the two of them, some mighty warriors keep finding their place in this realm. And he just so happened to find the right kind of warrior for this job. He holds the mirror out, and an image of a four-headed dragon flashes in it. Suddenly, Landia lunges out of the mirror, letting out a mighty roar. It seems that Dark Meta Knight had set up more warriors around the duo, and had successfully pulled off an ambush! While those two deal with the army, Dark Meta Knight remarks to himself he needs only a few more shards now, pocketing the mirror he pulled up.

So, for this chapter, realizing Landia was too powerful, the duo realized they needed to find some way to escape. So, they try to fight through the warriors, though they soon begin to find it too tough. Eventually, it seems they're completely cornered, left at the villains' mercy. However, some Taranza shows up. It's not the Taranza they know, it's more golden. It begins to stave off the monsters and helps Meta Knight and Daroach to a quick escape.

They're nearing their escape, but the other Taranza stays back. He declares that the monsters will be right behind the duo if he doesn't keep them at bay. Besides, he isn't the real Taranza anyways. He requests Meta Knight go to Floralia and fix the real him. Realizing this may very well be his last request, Meta Knight sadly nods. So he and Daroach escape while the Taranza clone makes his last stand.

Chapter 3: Floralia[]

After fleeing, the group makes it to Floralia, the site of Sectonia's rule. Apparently the King of Dreamland showed up and quelled their rebellion, allowing the wicked ruler to overtake the kingdom. And apparently it wasn't even the forces of her army alone that kept her safe. Some say that she holds an arcane power that granted her strength unlike anything the kingdom's seen before. It took Taranza everything to hold her back, but the King's arrival took them down.

Taranza's been imprisoned, and now she's rounding up the stragglers to ensure she reigns supreme.

King Dedede[]

Chapter 1: Hotbeat[]

King Dedede is sitting back on his throne, relaxing. Suddenly, a pair of waddle dees run in, and speak to Dedede, though they aren't verbal. However, Dedede is able to understand them, and conveys what they're saying, basically acknowledging that jester tryouts are finally beginning, and that their first entrant is coming in. In comes, bouncing on a ball, Marx.

The Marx juggles a bit and pulls off a few faces, entertaining the fairly board-looking Dedede. Marx's routine gets him close to Dedede, where he begins to weave a tale about a grand star out there in the cosmos that, once a person speaks to it, will be able to grant the wishes of them. This intrigues the king, who asks to know more about it. However, Marx says that he'll need the Star Power of seven different planets, then they can summon it.

Dedede initially wants to send someone out to get them, but he realizes he can't let anyone else have the possibility of earning a wish. So, he lies to his men, saying he has to go out on private business, and begins making rounds towards the various planets. First on the list: Hotbeat.

On Hotbeat, Marx says they're approaching the source. However, as they get closer, they're suddenly accosted by Chameleo Arm. Apparently, the thing is very territorial, and begins fighting them off. But Dedede and Marx team up, squaring off against Chameleo Arm. After defeating him, the reptile scampers away, terrified. With that, the planet's Star Power appears, and Dedede claims it.

Chapter 2: Floralia[]

Marx says that the next energy they can get will be over in Floralia, and he states that an interesting fighter resides there too. Dedede is interested in this interesting fighter, and says that they'll have to get them on board. So, they make their way to Floralia, a realm where various structures are connected via vines. On it are a lot of bug warriors, all led by Queen Sectonia.

The Queen appears to be taking part in a mad takeover, plotting to tear down each fort and achieve perfection through control. Before he begins the fight, Dedede approaches Sectonia, and decides he should work alongside her in order to get her on their side. He approaches, and though she immediately wants to strike him down, he says he'll help her gain control. So, she stops herself. She says that the residents hold no power against her. No, it's her traitorous servant, Taranza, that they need to worry about.

So, Dedede's sent to battle the residents of Floralia, who're led by Taranza. He's tasked with squashing Taranza like a bug, and players are even able to control Queen Sectonia here. The fight seems to play out normally, with the forts setting up gates, requiring players to take control of the forts in order to advance. However, when they're close to the enemy base, they summon something.

Suddenly, a snake-like statue slithers into the battlefield. This is Coily Rattler. It slithers through the field, towards player-owned forts. Sectonia declares that they need to tend to it before it destroys them. It's seen bashing its head towards foes, swiping its tail out in front of it, standing upright and sending chunks of it towards players, and splitting up into individual pieces to bash down. The player's job is to wait for Coily Rattler's head to be low, and then they have to hit it to stun it long enough for players to wear it down.

After dealing enough damage to it, it falls apart and is beaten. So, players are now tasked with engaging Taranza and defeating him. After the rebellion is quelled, Sectonia has some of her bug warriors pick up Taranza to send him to the dungeon, while Taranza spares a sorrow-filled glance at the queen as he's carried away. Dedede figures Sectonia could make a good ally, and asks for her to continue. So, Sectonia agrees to, but she decides to set something up before she leaves.

Floralia's Star Power lifts up, and Dedede collects it. Meanwhile, Sectonia is seen deep in her chambers, standing before an Amazing Mirror. She stands in place, and suddenly, a mirror-like duplicate comes out of the mirror. She orders the copy to go out and assist Dedede in her place. And so, Dedede's crew obtains a new member, though they aren't aware it isn't the Sectonia.

Bandana Dee[]

Chapter 1: World of Peace[]

The story begins with Dedede leaving on private business. The king didn't say anything about what he'd be doing or even when he'd be back, but he left Bandana Dee in charge of defending the castle all the while. Unfortunately, it seems the day Dedede left, the castle attracts attention. Nightmarish forces are coming in from the north side for now, and Bandana Dee must order the troops to defend the castle.

The general of the incoming army is Paint Roller, who's making a straight shot to the castle. Before the fight starts, a Waddle Doo runs up to Bandana Dee, and says that they're pulling in troops from elsewhere to help defend, but it'll take a while until they can come in. So, Bandana Dee reasons that they won't be able to push the invaders back until those reinforcements come in, so their first order is to hold the Forts around the castle. If the castle is claimed, then it's game over.

For this map, Bandana Dee and Waddle Doo are first tasked with defending Forts around the castle, pushing foes away until just the right moment. After surviving for long enough, eventually, spider-like forces run in, led by Como, now joining the group. With the reinforcements in tow, Bandana Dee orders them to charge and push Paint Roller out. After doing so, Paint Roller and his forces retreat, allowing the heroes a moment to celebrate.

After the fight, Waddle Doo reports back to Bandana Dee. He says that he saw Paint Roller's troops building up some cannons, and he suspects they aren't for any sort of transportation. Bandana Dee, with a sigh, realizes they're gonna have to be aggressive if they're gonna push the bad guys out of Dreamland. So, he has several Waddle Dees set up defenses around the castle, orders them to keep it safe, and then brings several soldiers out towards the site of the cannons.

Chapter 2: Butter Building[]

Bandana Dee leads his soldiers out to the site of the cannons. So, the group heads out, approaching the site, the Butter Building. The path up is blocked by paint, an annoying thing to the group. Waddle Doo suggests that they don't have a lot of time before those cannons are completely reconstructed, and that they have to break through the paint.

However, before they can begin to find a solution, the celestial duo, Mr. Shine and Mr. Bright suddenly show up, though they look more like paint drawings than the real deal. So, the group's forced to stave off the celestial bodies, or else face destruction. In battle, the group finds out that, no matter how much they defeat the duo, Mr. Shine and Mr. Bright seem to keep respawning. Unfortunately, this would be far from the extent of their worries.

Waddle Doo explains that the cannons are undergoing construction, readying an assault on the castle. Unfortunately, they have two goals now: finding the source of Mr. Shine and Mr. Bright, and keeping the cannons occupied. The group must keep the forts containing the respective cannons under their control. If a cannon fort is claimed by the enemy, a timer will countdown, it pausing if no forts are under control.

Eventually, the group finds a mirror. And in front of it is Paintra, who is creating Mr. Shine and Mr. Bright copies. Waddle Doo declares that they need to take care of her, though, having been discovered, Paintra decides it's time to stop holding back. Suddenly, enemy forces triple as Paintra deploys duplicates of the enemy forces. The battle's suddenly significantly harder than before! Bandana Dee's forces are beginning to be repelled, but suddenly, arrows begin dashing the paint duplicates. Looking at the source, the group finds themselves receiving aid from Spynum!

With the new help, the group's able to push back against the forces, and have a chance of taking out Paintra! With a final push, Paintra's repelled, and the group's able to push out the stragglers. Butter Building is claimed! And with that, Bandana Dee, Waddle Doo, Como, and Spynum meet up. Waddle Doo suggests that they continue pursuing the invaders to punish them for their attempted assault, while Bandana Dee suggests that if they keep moving, they'll spread their forces too thin and leave the castle open. Waddle Doo agrees with this. He says that Butter Building will give them an advantage, and says that they should probably keep this position.

Bandana Dee then suggests that they'll need more allies to keep up the effort. After all, if the enemy can just hit and run, then their defenses will surely be overrun.

DLC[]

Wave 1: The Nova Zoo[]

The story begins with a shot deep in space. In it, a strange looking Halberd is crossing the cosmos. It's chromatic, and the mask is instead replaced with a great big H. Inside, players see a bunch of Mecha Knights manning the many stations. And among them is a Meta Knight shaped chromatic ball, apparently leading them. This is Aych Knight. Then, the radar uncovers something. Aych Knight investigates the blip, and sees a figure resembling a familiar zoo.

Meanwhile, elsewhere in the cosmos, there is a grand space station, featuring the Lab Gates, the Bio Brain, Cube Tubes, and much more. Within the device, multiple squid-like creatures within, manning various stations. Among these creatures is a mechanical being with axe-like fins on its helm. This is LiSA. The star chart spies a strange device in the middle of space, shaped like a familiar zoo.

Aych Knight and LiSA asks for information on this thing, and they are informed that this is the Nova Zoo, containing one of many different species. Aych Knight and LiSA each see this as a means of expanding their libraries. So, they both order an advance on the Nova Zoo.

Down on Popstar, Meta Knight is practicing his skill with the sword. However, a device in his Halberd catches his ear. Curios, Meta Knight approaches it. And on it, he spies a signal akin to a certain knight he fought in the past. It appears that its Halberd is now on the move. Now, Meta Knight can locate it and stop that machine. Meta Knight then powers on the Halberd, and flies forwards. Kirby and friends see Meta Knight's Halberd getting up, and fly away. Of course, they all wonder what Meta Knight's doing, and so they decide to follow after him.

Chapter 1: Mountain of Echoes[]

The first destination is the mysterious Mountain of Echoes, a mountain that seems to be pointed right towards the Halberd's flight path. Unfortunately, it seemed like passing through this Mountain wouldn't be easy. Within, ghosts of various villains appear as normal mooks. Multiple Hynesses, multiple Daroaches, a massive 02 acting as a stage hazard, and they all seem to be led by Echo Kirby (Kirby in a new costume). It seems this creature is guarding the launch point, and would need to be taken down in order to zoom towards the Halberd's path.

Chapter 2: Undulating Universe[]

They continue forwards, but a strange fortress comes into view. It appears to be LiSA's vessel, sailing through the cosmos. She notices the heroes and seems to recognize them all as a threat, a line implying he'd already interfered too much. So, she blasts the Warp Star, and sends them spiraling down to another planet, this one with a grand tower. They decide that by reaching the top of this tower they should be able to reach Meta Knight in no time. Hopefully.

So, the heroes progress, but are accosted by the sudden appearance of Chandelena, who seems to be taking residence in the tower and is trying to drive the invaders out. During their fight with her, players find the Polygon Crystals weapon for Ribbon, and are then able to reach the top. From there, they proceed forwards into space. Unfortunately, it seems their path forwards is again blocked by LiSA's vessel, who seems aware that they're following.

Chapter 3: Laboratoreum[]

Next, players are blocked by LiSA's ship, which seems to keep weaving into their path with the intent of making their approach hard, especially with how they fired on them. Kirby's trying to steer the Warp Star around it, but soon Dedede gets an idea. He takes control of the Warp Star, and then floors it, driving the Warp Star forwards even faster than before. Next thing the heroes knew, they plunged into the Laboratoreum, crashing straight through it.

Dedede declares that if these guys insist on getting in their way, then they'll just go through it! The crew seems upset at Dedede, seeing that he just forced them in the middle of enemy territory. And, of course, the alarms are raised. It seems that they'll once again have to fight their way out, this time through LiSA's forces.

The following map has players fight through the various fortresses within the Laboratoreum, fighting through the Helix members and destroying more and more necessary aspects to the flying machine. After about halfway, LiSA herself steps out, and begins approaching. The party's prompted to stay away from the commander. On this map, players will also find the Cyber ability for Kirby.

After enough evasion and fighting, the heroes are able to bring the Laboratoreum to a halt, having messed with the engines enough. And at that, the heroes flee the flying machine, blasting out into space and leaving LiSA and her crew behind. And so, they progress. Meanwhile, LiSA orders some of her crew get to work on the Laboratoreum itself, while someone else man the vessels. She says to maneuver the vessel past the heroes, and instead head straight to the Nova Zoo.

Chapter 4: Elderberry Enclave[]

The story cuts to inside the Nova Zoo, looking over a few of the contained animals is Kitt Skatch, carefully monitoring each of them. However, as she's exploring, an alarm goes off. It directs her towards one corner of the Nursery, and there is a missile with a bunch of machines, each bearing a Haltmann emblem, on it. She then hears more missiles strike elsewhere as more alarms ring out. More and more of these Haltmann machines are coming out, and now it seems it's up to Kit Skatch to dispatch them.

The next map consists of Kitt Skatch claiming certain forts to be able to call reinforcements, and also staving off the Haltmann units by going to the forts their missiles lodged themselves in. After enough fighting, the captain of the assault comes out, which appears to be a machine utilizing Meta Knight's Mecha Knight moveset.

After enough fighting, they manage to defeat the initial force. And now, Kitt Skatch is able to report to Phan, and to hopefully raise the Nova Zoo's defenses.

Chapter 5: Halberd[]

The heroes are traveling through the cosmos, and soon approach the Halberd they sought out since this adventure started. They touch down on it, and Kirby immediately runs towards Meta Knight's station. There, he encounters the Knight and excitedly greets him. Of course, the other members of the group come up and are confused. Bandana Dee asks why Meta Knight ran off like that, while Dedede declares that he can't just run out on the job like that.

At that, Meta Knight points to a console in the station, displaying an H-shaped emblem. Meta Knight explains that he did battle with the remanants of Haltmann's machines, and found them constructing a new Knight, Aych Knight. Unlike the Mecha Knights Haltmann produced, this Knight was a super computer capable of storing all sorts of combat knowledge, while also wielding a body that could mold to each fighting style. He thought he beat it before, but this Knight's conscious was apparently sent to a separate computer, where all of that knowledge could be pumped into a similar body. Meta Knight explains that he's been keeping an eye out for any movement from the Knight, and recently it seems to be moving.

Dedede suggests Meta Knight quit this hunt and come home. With everyone this far from Popstar, they'll be lucky the place hasn't fallen to chaos. However, Meta Knight seems steadfast in stopping this guy, and goes back to his console. Kirby seems to suggest they help stop this Aych Knight and get Meta Knight back sooner. Bandana Dee seems to agree with the idea, but Dedede seems to find this Aych Knight business a waste of time. Then, the console lets out a shriek. Looking at the console, they see a radar showing blips closing in on the Halberd itself. Meta Knight declares that Aych Knight's spotted them!

So the group's forced to do battle with the machines, the torpedoes burying themselves into the Halberd, some on the upper deck and some shoved into the insides of it. When the fight starts, the torpedoes begin a countdown sequence, immediately worrying everyone on the Halberd. Meta Knight says they'll have to take each fort a torpedo is positioned at so that they may take them out before they blow up on board. The timer's set for 15 minutes. After taking out half of them, more torpedoes suddenly come in, and embed themselves into the forts.

Meta Knight says that this must be an extra volley they sent in to make sure the Halberd's down, and suggests that this'll be the last one. After enough fighting, the Halberd's are soon cast into the space behind the Halberd, as well as the few mechanical remnants of the invaders, and the torpedoes explode, their only victims being the invaders from Aych Knight. With that, Dedede's suddenly feeling really offended and demands they trash this Aych jerk. Kirby and friends each seem happy about the turnaround, and Meta Knight approaches the console, readying the advance.

And so the Halberd lurches forwards, them soon discovering the Nova Zoo, which seems to be in a state of combat, with not only a malicious looking Halberd on one side, but LiSA's vessel docked into it.

There's a brief flashback to the two ships approaching Nova Zoo. They notice each other, and each contact. They demand knowledge on each other, and each learn the other is interested in the Nova Zoo. Apparently they're both seeking out the information contained within the structure. Recognizing an opportunity, and noticing LiSA's lessened forces, Aych suggests a compromise. LiSA tend to the forces on the lower levels while Aych infiltrates the higher levels. Machines and helix alike are gonna gather their documents and information while they divide and concur. After they finish their invasion, they reconvene and exchange the info they gathered.

They both agree to these terms, and join forces for the fight.

Chapter 6: Nova Nursery[]

The game shows Phan giving orders to the guard, intent on driving away the invaders. Not only is she dealing with Aych's troops, but LiSA's helix soldiers as well. However, it seems he has to deal with more pressing matters when the door to the Nursery is shot open. He looks at the security footage, and sees Aych's troops breaking into the Nursery, alongside Aych Knight itself. With that, Phan comes down and attempts to oppose the machine. However, it uses its jet style to fly past Phan, and up to the Incubation Chamber positioned in the Nursery for protection.

It states that it doesn't come seeking the normal rabble, it has others working on those. No, Aych came here for something more powerful. He forms a blade and uses it to split the Incubator, making it crack open and reveal the ultimate lifeform: Orbitt. Upon awakening, Orbitt fires a laser into Aych Knight's face, sending it flying back to the other end of the room, slamming into the opposite wall. Orbitt floats down, and approaches the Aych invaders.

The next map has players play as Orbitt and Phan as they stave off the forces and beat down Aych Knight. With enough work, they're able to destroy it. However, at Aych's destruction, a cutscene plays that shows more versions of Aych Knight filtering into the Nursery, each bearing a different weapon. Players will have to destroy 7 Aych Knight's to end the chapter. After destroying all of the Aych Knights, another cutscene plays showing the orb of an Aych Knight falling onto the ground, eye pointed at the duo.

It remarks that Orbitt's exhausted its movepool on its duplicates, and claims that this is was a very informative experiment...

Chapter 7: Ugli Updraft[]

The heroes make it into the Nova Zoo, and make their approach. They're near the upper floors, but the way forwards seems to've been locked behind some of the invaders. They see a few Aych Knight enter, the door shutting behind them as LiSA stands guard. And it'll take claiming 5 different forts to be able to open it up. However, Aych units and Helix units are blocking the way, including LiSA, now wielding her Calamity form. The heroes must traverse Ugli Updraft and make their way to each fort, each captain being a Helix member. One wields a pair of knives, one wields a spear, one holds a hovering teapot, one has twin shields, and one has a spear with two prongs.

With those forts claimed, the final fort that'll allow players entry into the rest of the zoo opens up, LiSA standing guard. Through a hard fought battle, they manage to defeat them. And with that, the map ends and the group's able to go into the Nova Nursery.

Once in their, the party sees Phan and Orbitt standing over the mechanical remnants of several Aych Knights. Meta Knight seems confused, surprised they were trounced like this. He walks over to one and sees it's online, the other heroes looking over the fallen machines. Phan admonishes the machines, calling them fools for challenging the ultimate life form. Did they really think that they could defeat someone like Orbitt?

At that, one of the Aych Knights reveals defeat wasn't the goal. The heroes seem taken aback at that, and Meta Knight asks what he means. Aych Knight explains that it is a learning machine, and that it learns through experience. Through the many Knights it sent at Orbitt, it was able to record its powers, feel the force of their attacks, and get an idea of its style. Aych Knight declares that now it knows the skills of the ultimate lifeform, all while its subordinates were obtaining information on the creatures strewn throughout the zoo. Aych explains that its mind is now a library as expansive as the Nova Zoo, and that it can now take another body to use this knowledge to its leisure, perhaps obtain the knowledge of any that'd passed by Nova Zoo's grip.

Aych also says that, though it's fine with sharing with Helix, information this powerful can be spread thin, so it has no use for leaving this information to be discovered by someone else, least of all anyone with Meta Knight. Phan glances over and can see the Helix troops running out of the Nova Zoo towards the Halberd docking bay. Aych Knight bids them adieu, and then its voice logs off, instead replace by threatening beeps. Meta Knight realizes that these things are about to explode, and tells them to run! Before they leave, Phan presses a button titled "Eject All", and tries to download documents from his console. However, before he can get them all, Kitt Skatch pulls him away and out into Ugli Updraft.

Players are then thrust into the Ugli Updraft map, this time from the reverse direction and Phan, Kitt Skatch, and Orbitt in their party, and are tasked with running to the fort at the other end within 10:00. The remaining machines will try to impede progress, but skilled players should be able to make it to the last fort. Upon claiming it, a cutscene plays showing the party making it to their Halberd and getting out, several explosions ringing out from the Nova Zoo.

Meta Knight looks out the window to the Halberd, and sees Aych's Halberd beginning to leave, those Helix troops on its dock. He asks Phan just how dangerous Orbitt is, and Phan insists he's the ultimate lifeform. Meta Knight's positive that letting something like that out in a body as cruel as Aych is a bad sign. If Aych makes it to a factory or gathers enough machine parts, then it'll be even worse. He takes control of the ship and declares that they destroy that machine right now. However, Dedede tries to grab the controls and tells him to forget it, fighting something like that is a lost cause.

But Kirby looks up at Dedede determined, silently saying that they can do this. Dedede looks back and sees more of Kirby's friends backing him, saying they have to do this. He looks down at Bandana Dee, who seems scared but still stands with Kirby, his friends backing him too. Meta Knight references the Robobot incident, saying that Aych could cause that ten fold if they leave it alone. At that, and at seeing how outnumbered he is, he shakes his head and gives Meta Knight the ok. He steps away from the console, all of the heroes stand heroically, the crew from Nova Zoo standing behind them all. Meta Knight engages the thrusters, and the Halberd sails towards Aych's ship.

Chapter 8: Space[]

The Halberd zooms in towards Aych's, before maneuvering past the wings and towards the side of it. Meta Knight says they need to make sure it can't propel forwards, before putting the thrusters on full blast. The Halberd propels itself forwards, smashing head-first into neck of Aych's. It's knocked off course and chunks of the ship fly off, as do a few scraps of the mask on the front of the Halberd. The two split away from each other for a moment, Meta Knight attempting to turn the ship around to face Aych's. However, Aych Knight comes out on deck, marching forwards and facing the Halberd.

Then, it summons up a bomb akin to one of Orbitt's, and hurls it at the side of the Halberd. The ship is rocked by the blow, everyone on board struggling to stand up, a few tumbling away. Soon, Meta Knight corrects the ship, only to feel another bomb blast rock the ship. He says that he can't face Aych if he keeps beating on the Halberd. He orders the heroes to go out and confront them. He slams down a button and spawns a few warp stars, which the heroes rush to, flying off of the Halberd and onto Aych's ship.

The super powered machine is accompanied by LiSA, now in her Celestial form. Aych looks down at the heroes, regarding them as mere specks in the grand cosmos compared to it. For it is more than a body, it is a mind teaming with knowledge on the life of the universe. Phan tries to talk down LiSA, saying that she can't support a machine that so fragrantly destroyed his zoo and all research in it. However, LiSA says that everything the zoo could've offered is now in Aych, a far more convenient information center.

Meanwhile, the heroes turn towards Aych, wordlessly telling it they're going to stop it. Aych, however, appears to charge up a laser, aiming itself at the group of heroes. However, before it could fire, a hail of lasers, stopping it. Aych looks up and sees Orbitt flying off of the Halberd and descending towards Aych's. It slams down, rattling the ship beneath everyone's feet. Orbitt and Aych glare at each other for a moment. Aych tells LiSA to take care of the trash while it deals with its closest equal.

Orbitt and Aych ascend off of the ship, before ramming forwards and slamming against each other. The two zip around, spawning all sorts of weapons to assail each other with, and occasionally tackling. While they fight, the map begins with the heroes about to face off against Aych and Helix forces alike. The game tells players that the performance of Orbitt vs. Aych Knight is determined by the performance of both armies. They're each tasked with taking control of particular forts to make sure their respective warrior comes out on top.

There are five forts on each ship, one at the far end of each deck that a warp star is connected to, allowing either side to warp from one ship to the other. There's one fort for each wing, one for the thrusters, and one for the command tower. If a fort is claimed by an opposing team, it cannot be reclaimed.

  • If the enemy claims the Halberd's left wing, Aych and Orbitt will start by each sending hails of lasers at each other, their shots intercepting the other's. However, soon Aych begins hitting Orbitt, slowly weakening him and allowing him to be hit by the hail of lasers. Then, Aych zips up above Orbitt, rose its sword, and hit Orbitt with enough force to send him flying into the respective wing, smashing it into pieces.
  • If the enemy claims the Halberd's right wing, Aych and Orbitt will charge towards each other in a tackle. They clash, each struggling to move the other. However, Aych begins breaking Orbitt's resistance, before outright driving him backwards. Aych is flying forwards and driving Orbitt towards the respective wing, smashing Orbitt through it.
  • If the enemy claims the engines, Aych chases down Orbitt, emitting cutter-like projectiles that slice up the thrusters, before emitting several that curl around Orbitt and seem to stop his evasion. While he seems stuck, Aych lunges towards him, slamming into him at the same time the projectiles do, before smashing him into the thrusters and destroying them.
  • If the enemy claims the Halberd's control tower, Aych holds his sword defensively, awaiting for Orbitt to come and strike. Once he blocks the strike, it emits a powerful hail of black lightning, harming Orbitt and stunning him, before it flies over head and encases itself in fire. It then dives into Orbitt and slams him into the control tower, unleashing a mighty explosion of fire.

  • If the heroes claim Aych's left wing, Aych and Orbitt will assail the other with a hail of lasers, Aych putting in more and more effort. However, before the lasers can overtake Orbitt, he suddenly warps away, spawning another laser and zapping Aych's backside. Aych turns towards him, only to be hit with another zap. Orbitt repeats the process, pounding and pounding Aych who begins to try and block them. But there are too many. Soon Orbitt is overhead, charging up one powerful laser and striking Aych with it, sending him barreling down into the respective wings, Aych and the laser smashing through it.
  • If the heroes claim Aych's right wing, Aych and Orbitt will tackle into each other, locked into a struggle attempting to overpower the other. Aych seems to be pushing Orbitt, but then Orbitt opens wide. Before Aych can stop him, Orbitt sucks it up, aims at the respective wing, and then spits, slamming Aych into the wing and smashing it.
  • If the heroes claim Aych's thrusters, Aych chases Orbitt to the thrusters of its ship. It sends cutter-like projectiles at him, trying to aim away from the thrusters, though Orbitt keeps dodging them. However, he sucks up the next volley and spits them at the thrusters, carving them up. In a fit of rage, Aych charges Orbitt, who narrowly evades the stab, ending up behind it, and sending its own flurry of cutters at it, slicing Aych up while also finishing off those thrusters.
  • If the heroes claim Aych's command tower, Aych holds his sword defensively, expecting Orbitt to tackle it. However, Orbitt instead pounds the defensive knight with lasers, him blocking them but being knocked backwards with each blow. Fed up with being on the defensive, Aych charges Orbitt, only for him to unleash a hail of fire, damaging Aych and obscuring its vision. The cloud dissipates and Orbitt seems to've vanished. Aych looks up just in time to be tackled itself, Orbitt driving Aych downwards and smashing it into the command tower.

After four forts are claimed (as in, four of the above scenes play out), Orbitt lands on the front of the Halberd while Aych lands on the front of his ship. The two then seem to begin charging a powerful laser, both ships orienting themselves to face the other. Then, the two of them fired a powerful beam at each other, the beams colliding against each other and stopping the other. The two beams struggle to push forwards. The length of either laser is dependent on each of their health, the one with more health overtaking more of the struggle. The remainder of the fight is either side infiltrating the other ship and trying to beat up the respective opponent.

LiSA will be focusing on attacking Orbitt until he can no longer fight against Aych's beam, and the heroes' goal is to beat up Aych until it can't fight against Oribtt's beam. Whoever loses loses their own ship. After enough fighting, the heroes weaken Aych enough before using warp stars to fly off of the ship as Orbitt's massive beam encroaches on Aych. Aych remarks that it is too great a mind to lose like this as the beam starts to swallow up its own. The beam gets closer and closer, soon eclipsing Aych. The camera then shows Aych's ship being consumed by the beam, as well as the rest of Aych's subordinates.

The heroes are on the Halberd and look on with a sigh, feeling safe that they've now beaten that monster. However, their moment of peace is interrupted when Dedede asks what they do about those Nova Zoo people. They're still bad guys and they still have the ultimate lifeform in their grasp. However, when he brings that up, those guys seem to've disappeared. Meta Knight looks at his console, and sees those guys heading for one of the escape vessels, Orbitt asleep in their grip. The heroes try to go down, but they load up, and quickly head out. Kirby looks at Meta Knight and wordlessly asks where he thinks they're going. Meta Knight figures they'll be after those animals that were ejected from the zoo. He says that he can investigate where they went, and then begin efforts to protect them. This is implied to work into the side-map that also comes with the download.

Either way, Meta Knight turns the Halberd around and begins flying back to Popstar, happy with this victory and deciding to take the moment to relax. On the way back, Kirby and friends stay by Meta Knight, happy to see him again.

Wave 2: Huge Break[]

The next wave is a story about the forces of Light vs. the forces of Darkness. It begins with a shot deep in space on an ordinary planet, it seeming very normal. However, in an instant, the stars around it seem to blink out. The camera cuts towards one of these stars, showing a man in a cloak with a bulb-like head and a crystal atop his head sucking the light from a star and turning it dark. It then shows a star-like, goat-like creature approaching another star and blotting it out with darkness. It then goes onto the planet's surface to show many forces in battle, from someone like Mightlight fighting against Tomelle, people like Pluffun facing Marianne, and the Star Horde vs. the Draculok Legion. Soon, the Draculok is forced off of the planet, the starry figure flying off with them while the Star Horde celebrates.

The camera then shows a digital map, the planet they were focusing on being colored yellow to signify that it belongs to the forces of light. The camera then shows a serpent-like creature pointing towards a planet close to it, which happens to be shaped like Popstar. The camera then shows a dark version of that same map, a set of disembodied hands pounding it in a huff. The camera shows the owner of this to be a creature with a twister-like body, a dark cloak, and a set of sharp teeth, a giant gem on her forehead. She points towards the Popstar-shaped planet, and, with a point, orders her forces towards it. The camera then shows a shot of the forces of light and the forces of dark encroaching on Popstar from space...

Chapter 1: Popstar[]

Life seems peaceful on Popstar, though Kirby appears to be running off with a piece of cake, Dedede and Bandana Dee chasing after him upset. Meta Knight, meanwhile, is looking on with little regard to what they're doing. Soon, Kirby's out at a picnic blanket, and he sits down on it, gently placing the cake on it. He waves the chasing duo to him, waving for them to sit down. They're about to, when the sky suddenly goes dark. Curious, they look up and see the stars begin to blink out and into darkness. At the same time, they begin to see armies of light and darkness pour down onto their planet, Star Horde on one side and Draculock Legion on the other. The four of them take up arms, and then turn towards the opposing sides.

In battle, the units are tasked with squaring against the Star Horde and the Draculock Legion, keeping them from overtaking their own forts and capturing the opposing forts themselves. The Star Horde appears to be led by the powerful Armarie, while the Draculock Legion appears to be led by Leo. The player's encouraged to stay away from either commander in their battle against the forces. Eventually, they're able to overtake the forces and stave them off, forcing either side to stay away from Popstar. After that, Dedede orders his Dees to get to research on those two.

Later that night, there's a meeting, Meta Knight standing by Dedede as he looks over a few sheets of paper. Dedede says that those armies seem to be part of two big jerks, both seeking out the complete rule of the universe. One side's using the power of darkness, one side's using the power of light. Apparently the two of them are on a fast track to claiming their goal, and their planet is in the middle of their conquest. Meta Knight says that those two armies are gonna try to take this place again, which is why they need to get into gear.

Meta Knight says that if they target one army, then they'll leave the other to potentially claim Popstar while they're out. So, he says they'll have to divide and conquer, half of them going after one army, and half of them going after the other. Meta Knight suggests that Kirby, Bandana Dee, and their respective forces go after the Star Horde. Meanwhile, Dedede, himself, and their respective forces will go after the Draculock Legion. The forces agree, and each head towards a respective warp star. Kirby waves goodbye to Meta Knight before he leaves, Bandana Dee hugs Dedede's leg while he leaves, and soon all forces are at their respective warp stars.

And so, the two sides warp away, and the story splits (or, you could say, it breaks in two).

Chapter 2 Light: Spinach Sardis[]

Kirby, Bandana Dee, and the rest of their allies begin their adventure over in Spinach Sardis, ruins that're currently in control of Exateno. However, it seems that Vam Vom Teppurse is trying to take this planet away if she can't have Popstar. Upon touching down, the heroes are greeted with the forces of light battling the forces of dark, Avizz guarding the world with the beings of light while the Draculock General Mages are invading with the beings of dark.

The group will be encouraged to allow the forces of light to help them shove the forces of dark away, for the General Mages overtaking the light base will result in a game over. Fun fact, despite the three being part of one character, it should be noted that the way this map represents them, there are essentially three Mages that primarily uses one of the three each. After driving those away, Avizz reveals he recognized the sudden reinforcements as the people that drove back their forces on Popstar, so he commands his soldiers to focus all efforts on them.

After a tough battle, Avizz is forced off the planet, and the planet is now made neutral. Though before leaving, Kirby notices Taranza. Though not the Taranza he knows, a very strange looking Taranza. Curious, he and the gang follow the bug, bringing them off the planet and to the next area of interest.

Chapter 2 Dark: Planet Aerobow[]

Meta Knight, King Dedede, and their allies begin their adventure by traveling to Planet Aerobow, which appears to be a place of interest for the forces of light. Upon touching down, players witness the forces of light, led by Armarie, as they charge Capricorn, leading the forces of dark. Before the map starts proper, Armarie briefly notes that there's a bit of light left in the Zodiac Member, and orders her men to pin that creature down.

In this map, players are tasked with keeping the forces of light at bay, while also trying to aid the forces of darkness to push them back. If Armarie's forces manage to overtake the dark base, it'll be game over. Once they're forced to retreat, Capricorn orders his soldiers to take care of those travelers from Popstar, saying that they may be able to make headway towards Popstar while Armarie's retreating and if they take care of these generals. So, players are now tasked with shoving through the dark forces and eventually capturing the dark base.

After the tough fight, the dark base is claimed, Planet Aerobow is free from the grip of Vam Vom Teppurse's troops, and it's left neutral. King Dedede and Meta Knight are about to progress, however they suddenly see Susie. Though, not their Susie. It's a strange looking Susie who's heading off planet. Curious, they follow after her.

Chapter 3 Light: Rocket Road[]

Following the strange Taranza leads players to Rocket Road, a planet situated before Exateno's main planet. Approaching leads to cannons on the planet attempting to blast the party out of the sky, requiring them to make quick evasions as they descend down to the planet's surface. Down there, players touch down and learn that this planet serves as a defensive force against Vim Vom Teppurse. Armarie is here accompanied by Avizz, Sectonia in one of their bases. Though, not the Sectonia the heroes know. No, this is some kind of Story Break Sectonia! And that Taranza is some kind of Story Break Taranza!

S.B. Taranza angrily asks what the group is thinking following him like this, and shoves away from them. It's quickly made apparent that passage deeper into the enemy base is too tough for them. Bandana Dee proposes that maybe that alternate-looking Taranza could help them break through, and suggests they try to contact him. So, the next objective is to work their way through the forts to locate S.B. Taranza, who appears to be leading a group of soldiers independent from Exateno's forces.

The heroes offer the chance to help him beat through the foes, but S.B. Taranza refuses to listen to them. Exateno is trying to get the EX Energy out of Sectonia, so he needs to find her. With that, Bandana Dee suggests that, as afraid of Sectonia as he is, that escorting her to Taranza might be their best bet of getting his assistance. So, Kirby's tasked with capturing specified forts in order to find Sectonia. After freeing her and bringing her to Taranza, the bug decides that these guys might be somewhat worthwhile, so he decides to offer his forces.

With aid from the rogue forces, players are able to break through Armarie's forces and into the main base, where they're able to overtake her, forcing her to flee from the planet. It is made independent, players unlock EX Energy for Sectonia and Taranza, and now, with Exateno's last line of defense down, the heroes have a straight shot to his planet.

Chapter 3 Dark: Zodiac Satellite[]

Meta Knight and King Dedede and their group follow Susie, leading them to a Satellite orbiting around Vim Vom Teppurse's home base. She touches down, and so do the heroes, evading several attacks from the Satellite itself. It's under attack by light troops, including Mightlight. However, dark forces, led by Leo, are countering the forces. That's when the heroes uncover Story Break Susie, who seems to be lingering around the field to gather stuff the soldiers drop.

King Dedede says that these guys must be some kind of last line of defense, and declares that if they take it out, then they'll be able to make a beeline towards the war leader. Meta Knight agrees, and says that they need to cleave through the Zodiac forces. Unfortunately, Leo seems to have a few barriers in his ship, preventing the forces from breaking it, not only protecting himself but also giving the light forces the chance to beat down on the Popstar warriors. Eventually, they're forced to track down S.B. Susie.

The genius appears to know a way to hack into the barriers and allow them access. So now the goal is to claim the terminal forts and let S.B. Susie work her magic at each, which leads to the heroes having to defend her while she hacks away. This process repeats 2 more times until they finally make their way to Leo's chamber. There, they're forced to fight him themselves. If Mightlight claims the fort, it's game over.

Eventually, they're able to defeat Leo, and claim ownership of the Satellite. And now, with an opening to Vim Vom Teppurse, they feel the end of the war is at hand.

Chapter 4 Light: X-Star[]

With the path to Exateno opened, Kirby, Bandana Dee, and their allies invade X-Star, home to Exateno, leader of the forces of light. The Draculok forces are nowhere to be seen, it's only Exateno's generals. They serve as blockades to the final battle, controlling all of the special fortresses, and each responsible for producing a barrier of light around him. However, it seems as though confronting Exateno won't be that simple.

First, the party has to beat down a large army of light forces that immediately attempt to capture the home base. After driving them off, the fortresses the generals control shine, before firing beams of light into the sky. And then, powerful beams of light begin raining down, beating down on the forces of good with powerful explosions. Waddle Doo warns that this storm isn't ending unless they take out those generals! So, the party's tasked with beating on these guys as fast as possible, especially when, after a few generals are defeated, they begin focusing their assault on the home base.

After managing to claim those fortresses, the barrier protecting Exateno is gone, and the group's now tasked with battling him. After making the trek to the enemy's main base, they're tasked with battling the exceptionally powerful Exateno. After a tough fight, they're able to drive him off! However, he declares that this isn't over, that they are all insects in the grand scheme of the universe. So, he flies off! With X-Star claimed, the group's left to try and find out where Exateno fled.

Chapter 4 Dark: Legion Liege[]

With the path to Vam Vom Teppurse opened, King Dedede, Meta Knight, and their allies invade the Legion Liege, home to Vim Vom Teppurse, leader of the Draculok forces. Her generals are in control of the big fortresses, and are all creating a protective barrier around Vim Vom Teppurse. However, it seems that simply beating them and reaching her won't be easy.

After taking out the initial invading force, the generals cast forth dark magic. And at that, the main field is suddenly filled with a dark fog, obscuring the vision of everyone inside that isn't a Draculok warrior. Daroach declares that their forces are going to struggle fighting in all of this, and that it'll linger as long as those generals are in control. He says that the main forces are going to have to be careful, and brave the darkness.

After defeating them, the passage to Vam Vom Teppurse is opened up. It's time to defeat Her Fangedness. The party storms the enemy base, and battles the dark lord. After a tough battle, Vam Vom Teppurse declares that these small fry are hardly her concern. She has a snake to destroy after all! So with that, the Draculok forces flee Legion Liege, leaving the party to find out where she's fled.

Chapter 5: Yin-Yang Yggadrasil[]

Both groups investigate the studies of their respective armies, seeing various reports from the generals. There, they can see recent reports of something they call the Key to the War. This seems to be a site on a different planet, so they then fly towards it.

There, they come across Yin-Yang Yggadrasil, and would meet each other all over again! Bandana Dee snuggles up to Kind Dedede while Kirby happily greets Meta Knight. Dedede asks why those guys would've come here, to which Meta Knight explains that this tree maintains the balance of darkness and light. He says that if someone controls this tree, then they'll be able to shift the power of light and darkness in their favor. So Dedede suggests that if those guys win the battle here, then everything they've done will've been worthless.

Meta Knight concurs, and says that this may be their best chance is a victory over here. If they can intercept Exateno and Vam Vom Teppurse here, then they'll be able to stop the war instantaneously! Before the fight starts, Waddle Doo warns that the two forces will be at each other's throats all the while. Daroach, meanwhile, suggests that the longer those two go at it, the more time they have to catch up to the leaders. So, he suggests that they evenly distribute damage among each side. If one side gets an edge, then it could mean that they claim Yggadrasil!

So with that, the party's encouraged to split up one last time to make the charge towards the tree. The map will end in a game over if either army takes control of the tree. If one side has more bases than the other, said side will have higher morale, making them perform better, so the fight is a constant fight of balancing. Draculock and Light forces are closing off entry forwards by controlling fortresses, requiring the player to capture the fortresses in order to continue.

After claiming two of the locked down fortresses, generals of the respective forces will take notice. The light forces conjure up light magic, which they fire into the sky, before commanding it to rain down on the player's forces. The Draculock forces will conjure a tornado of darkness which it sends through the player's main forces, trying to suck them up and toss them around. Players are given a side mission to take out those generals in order to stop these twin assaults. After the generals are down and the last fortresses are claimed, the player forces progress forwards, and are able to make camp at the main tree.

With it claimed, players are given the new losing condition of losing control of the fortress. With it in control, Meta Knight says that they now have complete control over the power of light and darkness. Now that they have control, all's that left is to end this war.

The groups converge at the base of the tree, them seeing Exateno and Vam Von Teppurse about to collide. The two clash fists, Exateno sending bolts of light down from behind while Teppurse summons up a cloud of darkness that blots out those bolts. The two are struggling with each other, while the heroes each stand beneath them. And so, the final battle requires the players to battle both of the warriors at once. It's a tough fight. Once either health gets below half health, either bolts of light rain on the battlefield, a cloud of darkness clouds up the fort, or both if both are below half health.

After the two are beaten, the two are left kneeling, spent from their fight. The tree, meanwhile, shines both light and dark upon the field. The group look confused, staring at the tree. A feminine voice begins speaking, saying that both creatures have evaded their sight for too long. Then, a figure appears in front of the tree, a figure Vam Von Teppurse recognizes as Enchanta. She says that they came from different worlds, though she doesn't know what brought forth this strange change.

She thanks them for driving the two in front of her, and now she says that she'll correct this. So, she summons up a book. She holds it in front of herself, and flips to one page. At that, the Draculock leader is suddenly snatched up and sucked into the book. She flips to another page, and points it at Exateno, who is then snatched up and sealed away too. She pockets the book, and again thanks them. The group seems confused, and suddenly feel the location start to move. They then run and get to their Warp Star, before flying off. They look back and see the island itself beginning to get sucked away to some other realm.

The group are hanging out on their Warp Star and seem confused, though thankful. Meta Knight says that they'll need to investigate what brought those two in here. But Dedede says that there's no real need. The war's over and now they can go home and relax. So, with everyone satisfied sans Meta Knight, the Warp Star heads to Popstar.

Wave 3: Realm of Necrodeus[]

The story begins with a shot inside a realm as cold as the dirt. Darkness pervades it as devilish-looking stones make up the landscape, them seeming to float in the space. The skies seem to be filled with various spirits floating about. On a particular section of floating rock, there is an imp-like creature floating towards a titanic creature, it bearing ivory hands and a nasty looking skull, though it appears cloaked in darkness. He also holds a massive staff, his bony fingers rapping along the armchair to a throne he sits upon. The imp figure bows before the titanic creature.

The usual cast is behaving like normal. Kirby's having his fill of food, Bandana Dee's standing guard, Dedede is lazing on his throne, and Meta Knight seems to be investigating the general galaxy via a monitor on his ship. They all seem to be doing their own thing, when the skies start to go dark. Dedede gets up confused, and begins to step out, looking out at the skies. As does Meta Knight. Meanwhile, Kirby stops eating and Bandana Dee looks up nervously.

However, a magic circle forms in the middle of Dreamland, and from it rises a series of rocks that resemble bones. It busts through the circle, a few rocks resembling skulls representing the doorways. Once it's raised, the skulls open up and spirits begin to pour out. They chase down several residents, them fleeing in terror. The usual characters then take up their weapons, and begin to set out.

The match begins, and Meta Knight declares that first they'll need to chase the invaders away from the residents. So, the mission begins with setting out and defending a few ally units from these strange creatures. Part way through the defending, Dedede notices that the creatures are also trying to take their forts. He says they'll have to defend those too, though interestingly this doesn't become an objective.

Eventually, Meta Knight notes that these numbers aren't going down anytime soon. He says that they'll need to take the invaders' fortress too. So, the group's tasked with claiming the invaders' fortress. The gates are wide open, and they're able to enter, where they're introduced to the wicked imp from the land beyond, Levid. At the start of the fight, she hovers above the battlefield and simply watches as they battle the spirits.

Meta Knight says that if she's not participating, they'll have a greater chance of claiming this fortress. However, no matter how hard they fight, the fort's bar won't go down. Eventually, a cutscene plays showing Bandana Dee and Dedede battling the invaders, them seeming to vanish after taking painful hits. The cutscene then cuts to inside the invaders' fort, Meta Knight and Kirby battling the invaders. As they do, the fallen invaders seem to spawn back into fort, which Meta Knight notices.

He then realizes that this thing is acting as some kind of portal into the land beyond. That whenever they take out one of these invaders, they'll just go back to the land beyond, and show up back here. Levid snickers, reveling in their revelation that there's no victory here. She then floats down and approaches Kirby, who's starting to get tired. The imp then tauntingly dares them to oppose them without this punk. She extends her hand towards him, and spectral hands reach up from the floor and grab Kirby. And then, they pull him through the floor and into the other world, Meta Knight screaming out for Kirby as he's slurped down.

Levid snickers wickedly and says that it's time to stop playing. She orders her minions to head out and prepare The Drafting. With that, the spirits pour out more and more. Gameplay resumes, and a new fort marked "Halberd" appears. Meta Knight says that they have to retreat. This isn't going to end well! So the group begins fleeing with the objective being the Halberd. Once all units reach it, a cutscene plays showing the heroes of Popstar pouring onto the Halberd, before it lifts off. The invaders, meanwhile, seem to arrange themselves into a circle around Dreamland. And then, with them acting as the outline, a similar arcane energy shining forth.

And then, all of Dreamland seems to be pulled into the circle. Then, just as quickly as the invaders appeared, they vanish, leaving behind a barren wasteland, and disturbed heroes, minus one Kirby.

Chapter 2:[]

The player's shown an image of the realm Levid was originally stationed. A bunch of buildings from Dreamland are floating in the air. Kirby's body, meanwhile, is floating before the imp, her holding a devilish-looking book, the pages glowing with an arcane energy. The figure with the evil looking staff is also watching on, him looking on in anticipation. After enough waving, Kirby's spirit is seen raising from the body, before it's cast out into the flurry of souls in the air.

Levid says that the Vessel's now ready. The figure nods in approval, before waving his staff. Kirby's body is caught up in arcane energy, before it's raised up into the air. It's lifted over the abyss below the rocky structures. And then, the arcane magic fades away, and down Kirby's body went, falling into the abyss.

Gameplay[]

Gameplay is fairly similar to other warriors games, with players traveling around a map, squaring off against hundreds of enemies, decimating them with combos that sweep the area. Players alternate between light attacks and heavy attacks to perform powerful combos. As they do so, they'll have other units on their side to aid them, and opposing units to fight through.

Before a fight starts, players can view the map of the field, highlight certain troops (known as captains), and then swap them out for another teammate in their roster. Players will be able to swap between certain units on the field, or can use the pause screen to direct someone to someone/something. Captains can attack enemy forces, or defend ally forces.

Furthermore, throughout the match, players will achieve Ability Stars, which are achieved by either breaking certain breakable objects or taking out certain foes. When they achieve these stars, through the pause menu, they can apply these to a Fort in order to change what type of troop the Fort produces.

The Field[]

Maps in the field have a variety of things to them.

  • Forts - Each side has their own set of Forts. Forts are large squares on the maps that spawn units. These tend to function as useful checkpoints, usually used to repel attacking forces or send other units to a target. One team can take another team's fort by entering, wearing down a lifebar associated with the fort by defeating multiple foes, and then finishing off the captain that spawns once that lifebar hits zero. If you wish to defend a fort, you should have someone defend it.
  • Home Fort - Each side has one particular fort that requires defending. Typically, these determine whether or not someone fails a map. If their captain is defeated, then their respective team loses.
  • Warp Star - Typically, hidden around the map is at least one Warp Star, usually hidden in a Fort. When uncovered, players are able to go to the Fort, interact with the star, and then take it over to another Fort, regardless of if they own it or not. The owner of the source of the Warp Star alone can warp from Fort to Fort with it, meaning if the other Fort is owned by an enemy, the enemy can't take the star.
  • Heart Needles - Some Forts contain needles, tipped with Hearts. When players collect these, they can go into the start menu, select an enemy fort, and then have the enemies in that fort fight for their side. Note: This only effects the batch currently spawned by the Fort. If they're defeated and replaced, the new enemies will not be friendly.

Collectibles[]

  • Puzzle Pieces - When players are about to select certain maps, players may see an icon of the Squeak Squad members, sans Daroach. This indicates that there is a puzzle piece hidden in the map. To acquire this puzzle piece, players will have to enter the map, and fulfil certain conditions. Some examples include taking out X amount of enemies, claiming X amount of forts in X amount of time, and sometimes more specific requirements have to be met.
  • Weapons - Certain maps may hide a weapon for one of the characters. This weapon may be a better rank of a weapon they already have, or it may be a new weapon entirely. A few of these may be obtained through story progression, while others may be obtained by getting as high a rank on the map as possible (getting as many KOs, completing the map in as little time as possible, and being hit as little as possible).
