Kapp'n is a frequently recurring character in the Animal Crossing series. A hybrid of a "kappa" and a turtle, he is, as his name might suggest, a sailor. His typical function in the games is to transport Villagers from their own town to other players' towns to visit. He does not just use boats to accomplish this: some Animal Crossing games have him driving a bus or taxi.
He also appears in the Smash Bros. games, first on Tortimer Island as a background character, then in Ultimate as an Assist Trophy. In the latter, he drives around in his bus, and if he should catch an opponent, they'll be driven off to a side kill zone.

Kapp'n is a playable character in Jake's Super Smash Bros., where he's a partial clone of Villager.
